basicaly the very (and only) reason I wanted to visit Lille ( or all of france, for that matter). I was mailing with Franck up front, and it turned out to be his birthday that very weekend. We came in the bar and it was very buisy. To our surprise, there was a big downstairs area, which was way less hectic. About 28 beers on tap, and a very decent amount of beers; They uncluded very much French beers ( that were mostly unknown to me, since I don’t see a lot of beers from France, and never tend to hear about them) . A lot of Belgian ones (the lambic selection here is amazing, and too cheap to be true, one might think ). next to that, a few established names in the craftbeerscene. The owner helped us out and we got a shockingly great French stout on bourbon barrels, as well as a Bon chien on Vin Jaune barrels ( both tap, but amazingly priced ) . The snacks were very nice sausages, and again were very cheap ( 5€) The owner took us to the private upstairs area and we had a very nice talk. He even showed us around in the cellar. I realize not everyone could expect him to Always have time ( and energy ! ) to do all this, but for us, personally, this ment to be a truly amazing beer experience. We stayed and were very surprised to find some of our favorite beers in Vintage, for prices i’ll be afraid to mention here... To cheap to be true, yet it is. Amazing place !
The best place in Lille to drink a good beer in Lille. You can find always a good selection of beers. With 12 taps you have the choice! The bar is cozy and it’s a pleasure to drink a beer on this bar.
Recently they added 2 cask, and the first beer on tap is a bitter beer made for La Capsule in collaboration with Daniel Thiriez from Brasserie Thiriez.
La Capsule tries also to make events as meet brewers events or a special brewery day. That’s a really nice concept! Thanks guys!
Visited the 22nd November 2016 - Note: the place reopened the 11th November 2016 with a new look - Open bar with taps on the back wall. Upgrade from 14 to 28 taps. Very impressive choice with a "premium" brewery each month to let people discover beer. The selection is more focused on french beer and french breweries than before and it’s a good idea. About the place, clearer and more modern than before. 2 new rooms opened (one second room at cellar and one on the top). Ambiance friendly and casual, a little bit noisy when it’s starting to be full... And it’s full really quickly! I appreciate the free bottle of water with glasses, good idea and it needs to be common on a beer place! A must to visit if you are in North of France!
Pub No.5 on the 2016 Lille the Drink in or out tour. Visited this later in the day due to its opening hours. We thought it lacked some atmosphere but I suppose this could be due to fact that it had just opened. Has the feel of a Belgian town bar but with the obvious advantage of a huge beer choice. The barman was helpful and keen to discuss the beers. A definite must visit in Lille but we did prefer Beerstro on the day.
