76 Visited in February 2020. A rather small and cozy place right in the middle of CBD. Not that many beers on tap but more bottles/cans. Not crowded at all early on a Saturday evening.

64 I was there late on a quiet nice and it was almost empty. I think they wanted to shut. So it wasn’t hugely welcoming, but I strongly suspect that was just the specific circumstance. The place has cool quirky decor and is interesting. There is wall filled with shelves of beer bottles the museum of beer. Only four taps, but good and interesting selection. |
82 Quirky bar with interesting furniture, it reminded me a little of a library. Only 4 beers on tap, but there is a huge selection of bottles to suit all budgets. Very friendly, helpful staff who went out of their way to ensure we got what we wanted. I’ll be back |
78 Re-opened in September 2017 after a 7 month shutdown due to water damage. A superb, quirky bar with amazing and unusual furniture and a beautiful new floor following the water leak! Four taps and superb bottle selection. Working wifi and friendly knowledge service. It's good to have the Penny Blue back! |
68 Very Melbourne, tucked down an alley. Nice furniture, relaxed atmosphere. Only a few beers on tap but many bottles, especially on the walls! Not too busy when I was there so a pleasant way to spend 30 minutes. |
80 Nice ambiance both inside and out side. Good selection of Bottle but not to much on Taps. |
76 Small and cozy bar, 4/5 taps and a very good mixture of beer in the fridge. Service is great and prices aren’t that bad for a bar in the middle of CBD. |
80 Down a short laneway off Little Bourke Street is this cosy, relaxed and casual bar. There are only a few taps but the friendly host advised me that there were over 140 bottles/cans in the fridge. The décor is retro and funky and includes a ’museum’ display of many and varied empty beer bottles from around the world. Seating is mostly indoors but there is some heated outdoors fronting the laneway. |
70 Top little spot hidden down a back alley (it’s Melbourne so it wouldn’t be worth going unless it’s in a back alley) Decent selection of some hard to finds and knowledgeable staff. The eats are pretty good and ambiance cool with its Gothic furniture and dusty bookshelves. |
76 Visited at least twice, first time on July 25, second on July 29, 2013. Some indoors as well as outdoors seating, outdoros with heating. Not many taps, but plenty of bottles, many of which I still had not rated. Very nice, fast, knowledgeable service. Fairly hard to find the place if you don’t know where to look, into an alley way more or less, I just followed my mate who knew it. One of those places that makes you feel at home. First night talked to the guy working, he was happy to write down names of places he’d recommend for me to hunt craft beer in the city. I’d say more a bar than a restaurant based on my two visits. |
