I really enjoyed my visit here. The front room is small and quaint. A TV or two was on showing some kind of movie on cable. The place is cozy, almost divy, but not quite grimy enough to be considered so.The beer list featured a lot of local and regional stuff that I hadn’t seen elsewhere. A good variety of styles was represented. In the back room a stand up comic was performing, so I’m guessing they have other events back there sometimes. Really cool stop.

Very friendly place with lots of great beers, both in bottles and cans. Very unpretentious and much more spacious than the Map Room. Gets some things I’ve never seen before in Chicago. Very friendly bartenders and staff. They begrudgingly put sports on TV when something important is on, but you’re more likely to see the Discovery Channel or Nat Geo on the flatscreens.

Kind of a sketch place. Decent beer selection with a wall of countries and the beer from them. Free popcorn. Cash only was not fun but varying prices. Bottle of Abyss $20.

I’d qualify this as a hipster bar - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s got an old-timey "built with my own two hands" type feel to it. They have a tiny music venue attached which can be hit or miss. Great selection of taps and bottles - more so on bottles as they bring in beers from all over the world - which rotates regularly. Routinely busy, but you’ll never wait long for a drink - their bartenders work well as a team to cover the patrons. Tough to say on the value, They have some good deals and specials, but at the same time have no problem charging a hefty fee for a 10oz or smaller pour. They do have food, mostly standard bar fare, but I didn’t sample it. They also have a popcorn machine that patrons can use to pop there own snack at no charge - which is great from a snacking point of view ... although after my nose became flooded with popcorn aromas, all my beers started to smell buttery - so that’s a push, and I felt it unfair to judge them on food. You come here for the beer selection and maybe some live music.

This place is really dingy looking with a small sized room attached with a stage for music acts. They have a huge international selection in bottles displayed in a cool wooden cooler. Their draft list has a lot of special things on it. It’s super neighbor-hoody, friendly, and charming, but it’s not a place I would take a girl on a first date.

Visited August 14, 2013.

I walked by this place on the way to Revolution and decided that I should stop in on my way back. This definitely has an old feel to it (both the decor and the help). Pretty good beer list over all but I went with a Lagunitas beer. I ended up sitting next to a guy named Bob who gave me the history of the place and the problems that they’ve had with opening the patio. Fun place but I’m not sure it will be on my list of regular stops in Chicago, though the pints were pretty cheap.

My favorite neighborhood bar! I’ve been coming here since I first started going to bars (which is a long time), and I’ve always felt welcomed. They have close to 300 beers from around the world in stock every day, about 18 of which are on tap! They also have a friendly staff, daily specials, free popcorn and a room for live bands. They are open until 2am, 3 on Saturdays. They do have food, but I come here to drink and to chill. I suggest you try it. You’ll like it!

This is a great neighborhood bar with a great overall ambience and feel. They specialize in beers from around the world bottled. They have an excellent draft selection with two dozen beers on tap With plenty of craft beers. The food is regular bar food but there’s always popcorn ready for you. They also have a side room for live music. This service is great gives you a regular Chicago feel!

This place has gone through a lot of changes since I’ve lived in the area. On my last visit, they had a huge draft list and the popcorn was flowing freely. I’d pop in here again given the opportunity.
