Good mix of cask and keg with an always interesting selection. On this visit there was a weird beard tto on. The place was heaving with a great atmosphere and great beers. It’s traditional looking with mismatched furniture. I used to come in here on the way down to the fat cat and Kelham island tavern mainly just for a game of pool. Was always dead so no surprise it closed down for a bit a few years back. It’s certainly massively improved since it reopened and in fact it’s the best pub in Sheffield now for me.

Old school multi-roomed pub with main serving space in the snug. Darts board, dishevelled, mismatching furniture, but service with a smile and excellent cask and keg from up and down the land at keen prices. Regular tap takeovers/ MTB events.

Really enjoyed this place .. Not busy in my visit .. Had an local pale ale for 2,40 which is more than a good price .. Good selection both by Handpump/ keg .. Even the mikkeler Berliner Weiss on tap which is unusual for this kind of pubs ..multi roomed And nice beer garden at the rear ..Good place indeed !

This pub, just south of the A61 and Kelham Island proper, is a special one. 8-10 cask ales are partnered by 5 craft keg and an intelligent bottle list, all at a very reasonable price. Multi-roomed, friendly, quiet and conversation-led, this establishment is run by people who understand and appreciate craft beer. Local and father afield Northern Brewers understandably dominate, but there is still plenty of room for their Southern (and worldwide) brethren. Superb. The highlight of my Kelham Island crawl.

Visited on a Friday evening on 18th December 2015. Nice tatty old pub a couple of mins from Kelham Island. Place was not packed with Decemberists so managed to get served easily and get settled in. Good range of beer, well kept, cheerily served and well priced. It’s not modern and stark but more worn in. Liked it.

Traditional boozer, bit outside of city center. Neighborhood looked a bit grim. We came in a bit late so there were just couple of locals inside. Had a nice chat with the bartender, was surprised with the number of 800 beers which are rotated on tap here during one year. Good selection, some local brews available. Prices were very reasonable. Worth the detour from city center, would visit again.

Lovely old victorian building with a light and airy feel inside. Decor was a pleasing antidote to brewdogification: quaint, english and homely. Not a massive selection of beers available, with an emphasis on cask but there was no filler. Offerings from Siren on cask with both evil twin and brew by numbers on draught along with more traditional local fare this place has you covered. Would happily have spent an afternoon here in the lovely high walled garden to the rear were we not on a strictly marshalled itinerary of the area. Top notch.

A really nice old pub retaining an earthy charm of yesteryear. There are several misshapen rooms with a few interesting artefacts dotted around (for example a lovely old Bornholmer-style clock and some sort of cabinet with old pump handles). The beer list was excellent, with lots of choice. Well worth seeking out. (Visited 16 February 2015).

I have mixed feelings about this place. It’s always got something on I want to drink. It will always be well priced, and in good nick. The staff are friendly, and know their beer. But, quite frankly, the place is well due a good clean. The missus point blank refuses to step through the door. Thirds aren’t normally available, even for the big stuff. Social media is well utilised to show beers on the bar. A lot is done right. Could be way better, though.

Visited february 2015 with beery friends. Oldstyle, large multi roomed pub, within walking distance from the station, not to difficult to find. Really liked the room with the big " Bornholmer ". Cosy amosphere and helpfull staff. Good selection of beers both on cask and kegs, served in good condition. Few bottles as well. For sure worth a visit.
