90 I’m surprised at some of the lower ratings here. This is a really great place in Dallas...and a nice compliment beer and food-wise to the Moth. The layout of the place is great...and the outside courtyard is the best...on those days/nights that are not too Texas hot (or cold). I thought the food was really good...almost gastropub level. Then there’s the draft list..."very strong". You have to love the bottle lists printed on vinyl record sleeves. I have not been able to visit when there is live music...but that would just be icing on the cake. I highly recommend a visit here when in town to get your craftbeer fix and some great food. |
92 Twenty four taps and they don’t waste any of them. Well curated selection with a very knowledgable staff. Comfortable atmosphere with an eclectic and enjoyable music selection. And for the single guys, an astonishing number of female customers for a place known for beer. |
74 For the most part, they have a pretty good selection. The nights to go are when they have the release parties or they are having a tap takeover. The food is ok, nothing special. Right in uptown. |
74 Nice casual bar with great patio. Everything is just a bit apathetic and short of being good. Also a bit pricey, more so than better places in the area. Service was poor, considering I was outnumbered by staff. |
78 Small, cozy little spot in a renovated old house - a little tight inside, but a decent-sized outdoor patio, as well - overall nice vibe, but super-popular, so be prepared to get friendly with strangers - decent draft list - other have complained about a lack of Texas beer, but they had a nice variety when I was here - the prices on the beers, however, were quite high (8 bucks was not uncommon) - the food was more reasonable in price, came in large portions, and was quite tasty - my chicken-fried steak was one of the best I’ve ever had - service was slow and didn’t really know much about the beer - overall, though, a nice place for a delicious dinner and good (albeit overpriced) beer. |
62 Bar with a good, albeit predictable craft beer lineup. Few local beers. Food is a step up from bar food. Bro-factor four. |
64 Came for brunch, plenty of spots available at open. Took a seat at the bar, nice view of the whole place. Service was ok, a bit slow and not super friendly or engaging about the beer. The draft list was ok, but only about 5 Texas beers, the rest were commonly available standards. They did have 512 Five which I didn’t see anywhere else. The food was decent. I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken was great, hot and perfectly seasoned. The waffle could have been from a hotel, nothing to write home about. Ok spot, but can’t say anyone needs to come here. |
80 Stopped on a Thursday night, during Thursday night football, had no trouble grabbing a spot at the bar, but had surprising issue finding parking, ended up parking 3 blocks away, due to unfamiliarity with the area. Seated at the bar, I grabbed a short pint (10oz) which is a nice offering, lots of texas local brews and some other nice stuff on tap, nothing earth shattering though. Some drugged out white girl next to me, talking about being on xanax then trying to slug 1/2 st. germaine 1/2 white wine sprtizer.. food was okay, nothing great your basic bar sandwich. the 10oz pours are really whats nice here, nice patio and upscale crowd. on my 3 block walk back to my car i spotted 2 lamborghini’s leaving the steakhouse just up the street. |
82 Visited twice in February 2012.
First time was at the bar for samples and food, which were both good. The place is a little more upscale than your usual bar. They offer samplers which is nice and they’re happy to answer questions about the beer and make suggestions. I made the mistake the first time of not getting the grilled cheese sandwich so I fixed that the second time. They had also rotated some taps by that time so there was some different stuff, even if none of it was new to me. The patio out front is pretty nice too. Unfortunately there were some irritatingly loud people at the next table. |
92 Anything negative is quashed by their selection, rotations, support of locals, and most importantly, the staffs knowledge of beer. There are so many places in Dallas with good selections and staffs that haven't been taught a thing....or care to know anything about the product their selling. |
