Another classic old pub - very plain and down to earth, with banquettes all round the walls and those narrow formica tables with a little shelf underneath. Even the toilets were formica-panelled. As jjsint noted, there are “no ladies provided” - you have to bring your own and indeed I was the only female there. We sat in the lounge bar where the walls were covered with photographs and obituaries of various people such as Fidel Castro, George Michael and Rick Parfitt (these were just a few names I recognised - many I didn’t). There was a decent choice of beer and the barman was very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. (Visited 1 February 2017).

If you like your boozers on the traditional side then this is the place for you. While the retro ’No Ladies Supplied In This Bar’ sign on the wall is tongue-in-cheek it may as well not be: this place is wall to wall blokey blokes. (Not that it feels either exclusive or intimidating. It’s neither.) I opted for the lively public bar and it didn’t disappoint. The U shaped bar serves the thirsty and friendly customers. Now here is the problem. Only three real ale pumps (down to two on my visit). And there is no craft keg although residents of England might find some McEwan’s ticking joy. Still it’s one not to miss. Wonderfully unspoilt and comfortable simultaneously.

Seriously? Only one review for this pub? One of the best traditional boozers in Glasgow, a short walk over the river from Glasgow Central. Unspoilt.

A very old fashioned traditional scottish bar in a slighty dodgy area across the river from Central Station. Close to Bridge Street Underground Station and is on the Glasgow Underground Pub Crawl. 3 handpumps, selling quality beers from Fyne ales - one of the top Scottish breweries. Helpful service and good prices. Allow me to take my bike into the bar. This bar is a walk down memory lane for me and lets you know what the pub scene was like in Scotland 30 years ago. One of my favourite bars.
