60 Stopped in with my family for supper. Limited beer selection, but had flights of 4. Food was great. Service was slow, but staff was friendly. To be fair, it was busy and they seemed understaffed. They had a large patio, but we chose to eat inside because it was 30+ degrees outside. Turned out it was hotter inside because they don’t have air conditioning. Expensive, but about the same as every other place in Canmore. Not really a beer place, but worth a stop if you’re hungry. |
54 Slightly ahead of the GP for selection but other than that, both pale in comparison to Iron Goat when it comes to drinking beer (this is a beer based forum) for those of you looking for macros, this would be your place to visit in Canmore but for craft types, there are a couple of offerings at the Wood but often they are unavailable, which is unfortunate. Wing night is worth a visit but overall, there are better places to drink in Canmore. |
68 Kinda odd this place has no ratings and Grizzly Paw has 24 ratings. I visited early January 2015. From what I remember, the service was not bad, it is a cozy place in the winter. Food was above average and reasonably priced for Canmore. Although it says it has 24 taps, a lot of those taps are either macros or something fairly mainstream, there was maybe 5-10 beers which were actually interesting. I BELIEVE they did sampler trays. I remember overall having a good time here and thinking I should come back in the summer to enjoy the huge patio. I would definitely recommend this place over Grizzly Paw, though in fairness I probably haven’t been to GP in like 5-7 years, though we did try to book a table at GP the night we went to the Wood, but my friend said the person was so rude that was taking the reservation, he choose to go to the Wood.
The Wood isn’t a beer geek bar, but if you are in the area, then definitely worth a stop. |
