Small dive bar in Kensington Market. Friendly people, good selection of local craft. Bartender was helpful with recommendations. Had a tasty Bellwood sour ipa.

The last time I was here, my ex was bringing the kids to meet me in the market for Solstice. I stopped in to have a few pints before they were to arrive. They arrived early than expected and the look of their faces staring in the window as I chugged the remainder of my Jelly King is the stuff that is the perfect subject matter for a Hopper painting.

Found in Kensington Market by chance, popped in as I loved the name. It’s a small dive-hole-in-the-wall type place with a somewhat punk aesthetic and good knowledgeable service. A good selection of Ontario craft on tap and imports in bottles. I really loved the ambiance here.

Fantastic little bar with a great relaxed neighborhood vibe and personable staff. Beer selection is quite good but not great, however what it lacks in selection it more than makes up for with environment of the bar. Had my first Nickelbrook Cucumber Gose there and made me excited about brewing.

Very cool little bar in a lively artistic area, punk vibe and music, small standing patio outside. Solid tap selection with fast rotation, they have Peche Mortel year round (!). Bottle selection leaned more toward imports. Prices seemed pretty fair for the area, service was fine, crowd was quite talkative. Might be unappealing for some with its raw punk style but this is probably a great definition of a local dive bar.

A little gem/hole in the wall in kensington. An odd aroma of litter box when we alked in but the beers made up for it. Solid taps, some great rare bottles. Fiendly bartender, good tunes. No food, but i love the dive, youre here to drink not eat vibe. Definitely has a hipster vibe, but i dont mind it. Id go back in a heartbeat.

2015-06-17. Stopped in for a NB tap takeover so there was a good selection of their beers on tap. The bar is not really what I was expecting, it’s smaller, and less punk rock than I had (for some reason) pictured. It’s a bit divey but mostly in a fun way. Tiny patio out front. The girl working the bar tonight is exactly as feisty as you would expect. Not much in the way of food options, apparently people tend to bring food in from neighbouring places. Prices are pretty reasonable. Had fun, I would come back but it’s far enough from my usual haunts that it probably won’t be often. Definitely worth a visit if you are in town visiting Kensington Market.

Cool little bar in Kensington Market. I stopped in for a beer a few times as happened to be staying a few blocks away. Tidy selection of craft beer and a few interesting bottles in the fridge. Yeah it’s pretty grungy here but I liked it. You can bring in your own food which is great as there’s good options to grab food in the market. Good service.

When I visited: Mid-April 2014. What I had: Petrus Aged Pale, Dieu du Ciel! & The Alchemist Moralité, and Thiriez & Jester King La Petite Princesse in bottle, Beau’s & Kissmeyer Nordic Pale Ale on tap, some white wines for the lady. What I liked: Solid beer selection with a few rarities in bottles, owner was very hospitable to us, decent prices, proper glassware. What I disliked: Too-cool-for-school crowd is not my scene, no food or table service from what I remember, limited seating, a dive bar for punk rockers and hipsters. Would I go back? For the hard-to-find gems that they occasionally get (like the Stillwater Classique cans that just came in), yes. Overall Rating: 62
