Big, a bit German beer hall style place which has only Finnish beers on tap. No connection to other beer bar chains in Helsinki, so it is a good place to find some Finnish micros which are not available elsewhere. Even with microbrews, this place has more like "common people" ambiance than for being a place for beer geek or hipster. Location is quite central, so the worth of checking for Finnish micros.
Big place, 2 floors, modern interior, absolutely packed at my visit. Most of the beers on tap where Finnish micros, big selection on bottles as well. A bit too crowded for my likings, still a place to visit.
Went here a couple of times last summer, it was around the corner from my hotel. Good selection. However the pub lacks ambience, just really plain. I’ve spent years defending my motherland when Finns are accused of being really cold and quiet, but the staff are exactly that. I asked for a reccomendation and was pointed to the most expensive beer - coincidence? Not the nicest pub but central.
Led on a pub crawl by FatPhil, this is the only one I’m rating as it was my favorite. 10-12 beers on tap, including a tasty sahti, plus another 50 or so Finnish beers in the bottle. Had some tasty moose meat and caribou jerky snacks. Very fun.
Looks like a huge place in the very center of the town. Just across the Ölhus Kobenhaven. Absolutely packed on saturday evening. We managed to find an edge of the table and slowly claimed the area. Staff was helpful and quick with service. Worth a visit.
First Finnish bar of our brief trip in Helsinki. Fairly spacious place with interesting tables, benches and general decor. Draught is mainly Finnish (apart from Sori, but then that’s two Finnish guys in Estonia). Varied selection covering all bases (I had a nice Baltic porter, pale ale & IPA) as well as around TEN (!) Finnish ciders / perries. Staff were helpful & knew all the beers well. Close to the main shopping areas. In all, well worth a stop off.
Visited on Sat around noon, place was mostly empty. It has a sitting area outside and two floors inside. Selection is nice, have Sahti and all tap beers are local. Location is good, around city center which makes it a good place to stop during shopping. Worth a visit.
A huge bar in the centre of town. Somewhat open plan and needs to be full before it would seem cosy. Decent selection of local beers and good service. Wifi works fine. A little pricey if I’m honest but not overly expensive. Had to move when a couple of drunks with their own particular odour came in. The doorman should have done his job there I feel. I’d return but it’s nowhere near the top in my list of favourite Helsinki bars.
Centrally located high-ceilinged interior. About a dozen drafts with a number of bottles on the menu. A lot of Americanized Suomi beer available. I was happy enough to find a bottle-conditioned pilsner of excellent quality. Prices are some of the highest in the world for beer, but that’s known before you ever travel to Helsinki.
