86 How have I not rated this place, been her multiple times. House is nice and the tap room next door has a ton more room. Definitely stop by both ... tap room has more selection, house is more quaint. Food is good when I eat there ... fish and chips. Ambiance for the house ... |
60 In a beautiful town, in a pretty premises, this is a pretty tiny place split up into even smaller sections - on the left is the self-service bar with only a few seats and is very cramped; on the right is the table service dining are. 5 draft taps plus 3 casks - no flights offered anymore, just 10, 16 and 20 oz tasters. C'mon guys - for a brewery to not offer smaller pours is really irritating. At least the bartender will offer sips. I was disappointed that they didn't have any saisons at all, so I didn't get to try any of their top rated beers. Their IPAs were solid, but nothing special. All in all, pretty unenthused about the place. |
90 Best place in the greater Philly area that I didn't know about till recently. Stopped here on my way back to north NJ after starting at Tired Hands Fermentaria. So glad I did. Hit it on a warm afternoon and people were sitting outside on the porch and tables on the lawn. Inside its a beautiful old house with nooks and cranny's...and a really small but cool bar (I snagged one of maybe 5 seats). There were 8 drafts. The beers are no less than good/very good...with some amazing standouts like the IPA's "It Crashed to Silence" and "Catered Dreams". Also worth mentioning was an unusual IPA that had honey and white grape juice added, and a strange ale with mango, papaya, and green tea. Forest & Main is a really cool place and will be on my list for future visits when passing thru these parts. |
66 The house that the brewpub is housed in is attractive though the front yard and porch need some TLC. Service for Sunday lunch was slow. Interior ambience is fine though the space is cramped. Beers were excellent within the limited range of styles available. Nice but not hangout material - pricey. |
60 Absolutely lovely building. Attentive staff. Food was tasty. Prices and bit high and the menu was fairly small. The beers were all loaded with the types of hops that I can’t stand and I ended up not liking any of them. Interesting place. I wish I liked the beer more |
52 Quaint amazing building in a small town, feels like a mixture of a museum and your grandparents house. The beers were pretty average, all tasting basically the game regardless of ipa or saison with tons of oak and brett. Overly bitter, and not easy to drink. I really struggled through 4 tasters. I’d come back to hang out, but not for the beers. |
90 Located in a quaint town, I found parking to be pretty easy on a Sunday afternoon. Converted house, with some small rooms and a large outdoor area. Some music was playing on the patio, with the great weather a hell of a great vibe was created. Bartender Christine was personable, helpful and knowledgeable about the beers. Flights of 4 for $6.50, quite reasonable, and the beer quality was overall excellent. 2 bottles available to go. Overall 2 flights and 2 bottles ran $43 which I consider to be a solid value for the quality of what I got. Did not eat but the brunch menu looked tasty. Kind of a unique, special place and definitely worth a stop. |
84 Arrived at opening. As per picture, this place is an old house, on the corner of, you guessed it, Forest and Main. I did not explore, but it looks like rooms are devoted to dining, kitchen, etc. Not sure if they brew onsite as well. The "bar room" is to the left as you enter, and is pretty tiny. I think the bar had four seats. I was the only one there at opening on Wednesday, although a couple more locals straggled in. Service was friendly and helpful. They had about 8 beers going, with a mix of English styles (real cask pours at proper temperature) and Belgian inspired saisons. Definitely using some new world hops to spice things up a bit, however. Flights of four were reasonably priced, and the beers were pretty solid. They do have bottles to go at times, Dochter Saison was available when I was there. Nice place and a good overall beer experience. |
78 such an awesome little brew pub in an actual Victorian house. was cool to see all the rooms. |
92 Cozy little place. Known for their world class saisons. Food looked a bit pricey, but I didn’t partake. Bottle release was painless - a marvel these days. Wish they had flights available although I was told that was just because it was a beer release day. Normally they do 4 oz flights. |
