Nickson’s Eatery

The beer list was a big surprise when I met a friend here for dinner. Not a long list, but had a nice representation of many styles and about 15 craft brews. The food is outstanding, but a bit pricey for my tastes. Then again, it’s in a very upscale location (downtown La Grange, IL), so that explains part of the price issue. Food makes this place worth a visit and the beer list will enhance that experience. Beer is not the primary reason to visit. Palmer Place about a block and a half north is better for that.

Straight restaurant, small bar area. The food here is very unique, creative, and very well executed. They have a Elk burger which is just plain cool. Really unique sandwiches, great sides (fried green, tots, etc). Sadly, been here only twice, never a soul there, not sure how they stay open, maybe it’s busy for dinner? Have about 15 bottle selections, some good ones, heavy on the Goose Island and Great Lakes. No taps from what I could tell. Really nice hardwood floors, classic styling, comfortable seating. Hope the traffic improves - the food makes it worth a stop.
