Very good selection of great beers. High tech draft board which is nice. Service was excellent with two very nice and knowledgeable guys behind the bar. Very noisy even though they didn’t allow minors (kudos for that!) but the accustics (sp?) In the room is just poor
Small, tech draft board place that the bartender says focuses on ipas. There were was a decent amount of very local stuff from breweries I’ve never heard so that was cool. They offer full and half pours another bonus. However, nothing on tap was stellar mostly average stuff. I’d like to visit again to see if I was there on an off night, but I was hoping to be wowed and I wasn’t.
Maybe the greatest beer bar in the country, no seriously. We hightailed it here to grab a pint off (what would be) the bottom of a Pliny keg. Amazing. Incredible menu and method of display. The only limitation here was my body’s ability to process alcohol. Seriously, I was salivating at the possibility of trying at least 15 options
Visited on a late Tuesday evening in March 2016, about a hour before closing time. The place was quite small, modern and slightly "sterile". The selection was good, and I liked the electronic tap list.
The service was good although impersonal. Very nice location in downtown Portland, around 6 minutes walk from my hotel. (Marc Spencer)
Honestly, I was expecting more from a world renown establishment. Ambiance was fine. The place is decent inside. Service was alright. Beertenders were a little uninspired in my opinion, and myself being a waiter for 8 years that is a strong statement. Selection was just okay. I simply expected a lot more. Prices were not bad.
Last stop of the night on a Tuesday evening. Small, corner location in downtown Portland. Block seemed a little seedy, though the interior of Bailey’s was very nice. Comfortable feel, with bar stools, bar tables and a couple of areas to stand and have a beer. We arrived after The Upper Lip (upstairs room for Baileys) had closed, which was a bummer because I would have loved to check that out as well. They use the Digital Pour system, which is really the best way to keep taplists current. When I visited, the list saw superb - mostly Pacific NW focused, though a few strong selections from CA as well. Service was great, and the vibe of the place was laid back. I can imagine this place gets crowded, especially on weekends.
82 = ★★★½ (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.
