This place sure confused the hell out of my Uber driver. Luckily they put a sign out front. Really cool feel as its basically a hole in the wall thatís producing great beer. Mostly the beers you can get everywhere but Four Play on tap is worth the trip. Fun little place.

As others have already commented, this is a basement brewery, accessible only by elevator. That in itself isnít bad, but the area doesnít lend itself well as a space for customers to gather for a few reasons. First, the area isnít laid out very well to accomodate a beer drinking crowd. Seating is minimal and sporadic, and the overall feel to the place was just crowded (and because it is in a basement, somewhat oppressive). Second, there are issues with climate control-- it was uncomfortably warm when I was here, and it wasnít a hot day outside (this definitely added to the "oppressive" feeling). Third, the setup for brewery purchases is not ideal. They are cash only, but you have no way of knowing that until you are actually in the line to pay. Now for the positives: the beers are pretty much universally fantastic, and the prices are CRAZY reasonable, bordering on cheap. It is fun that you can peruse some old records and dial up the turntable to pass some time while waiting in line. But I say with confidence that if it wasnít for the brewery-only seasonals I donít think Iíd ever come back here to sit and drink. High scores for selection (because of the interesting seasonals) and value.
Visited before the Blazers game on a Thursday. Located in the basement, not super easy to find, though I followed the signs on the sidewalk and found it pretty easily. The layout is low frills, with benches and tables spread out throughout the active brewing and barrel rooms. There isnít even really a bar, they serve you straight from the taps in the corner. 9 total beers on draft, 3 of which were special or seasonal. Several sizes of pour available. Turntable was spinning soul and jazz, which really worked or the space. The crowd was really great, had several good beer and basketball conversations. I can certainly understand this space could get overcrowded, and perhaps the beer range is not as vast as other places in town, but this is really my kind of place.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon in November 2015. Brewery in the basement of a block over the river in Portland. A loop tram stops pretty much outside if youíre headed over from Pearl district. Tables and chairs are scattered around the brewery. Good choice of taps from standard and had 3 specials plus a few vintage bottles. Staff were super friendly and kept beer and music flowing. Beer was great too. Itís a great spot and one I recommend

Difficult place to find through a maze of tunnels below a mixed use office building. Inside the basement is a tiny 10 max tap system among the small barrel room adjoining the brewhouse. Staff was friendly and attentive while we were there, but took off for awhile leaving the area unstaffed. A handful of tables. No food. No food truck. Some special bottles available for purchase to go. Tour of the brewhouse available. Quality of beer was very high with a good portion of things being tap-only specialties. Tasters available.
Finally made it here, building on a strange island with 4 lane one way streets on 3 sides of it/ And its in the basement, which adds to the industrial dungeon quality, exposed walls & pipes, some seats and standing areas but folks also flop out in the hallway. Weíre here for the beer, which has a particular bent to most of their brews..
Man they make solid beers, but they make it very hard for you to buy the beers from them. Completely unmarked business building, unmarked how to get to the tasting room (through the elevator), once in the basement, minimal signage. Only open late afternoon/evenings (even on a Friday during CBC week, which I thought was a bit odd). Oh, and they are CASH ONLY. The bar tenders, are efficient, and polite, but are somewhat cold, and donít talk beer much (at least when I was there). That said the prices (CASH) are quite fair and the beers are very solid. Had a pint each of Fantasia and their Pilsener, also tried through the saisons (not having had them at the source), and some barrel blends. All excellent. I will return, for sure, but man, I wish they made it easier for a customer to buy beer at their tasting room (signage, credit cards, friendlier hours)!
Luckily we had several veterans to guide us on the way here. We walked from the Eastside Lodge here, which was a bit further than I really expected, though not necessarily terrible. Once you get to the building, you have to take the elevator downstairs and then take a couple turns. Apparently you will be in trouble if you have to take the stairs down.
This place is tiny. They had a few special taps on as well as their typical lineup of the Saisons and the Pils. Old school cash register. It is cash only...or check. What? Who the hell even carries around a checkbook anymore? At least the beers are cheap. One of our party members bought a pitcher (64 oz pitcher) of Pinot Barrel Aged Four for 18 American Dollars. Thatís nutters.
There isnít really a whole lot of space to sit or hang out here and itís small to begin with. Itís also kind of hot. So, itís neat to visit or pick up some special release bottles/taps, but I wouldnít come here to drink for an extended period of time. Slight score boost though for the quality of the beer and the value of it all.
easy to get lost heading down to this subterrainian brewer, especially if youíve had a few. Love the place and the beer, though. Always multiple unique beers on, as well as special bottle releases, etc...
