The chili is great here, but what really makes Hard Times special for me, and for any beer lover, is the fact that Hard Times Cafe is a multi-tap or beer bar. You will find an average of 25-30 taps pouring a varity of beer styles, $2-$5 a pint, depending on what style you chose. From regional domestics like Yuengling and Shiner, to micro brews, to seasonal specialities, to rare imports, there is always something new and exciting for a beer lover to find on tap. Your milage will vary at certain locations. You might be a little wary of the Herdon location. Sadly, Herdon has a huge illegal alien population, and many illegal alien El Salvadorians and Guatemalans frequent this place to shoot pool and get drunk. Some have caused problems, so much so that police have had to be called, and it has caused a lot of long time regulars(myself included) to go else where. So, pick and chose when you want to visit the Herdon loaction. The Balston, and Woodbridge locations are excellent.

Been here many times. Average food. The beer selection isn’t what it was. For a long time, they needed to clean their tap lines. Beer selection is ok when compared to your everyday bar but definitely not going out of your way to seek out. Young, loud atmosphere. Food and service are mediocre.

Beer selection was mediocre and the one beer I tried had clearly been mistreated. Food is not nearly as good as it used to be. Service was borderline atrocious. Will not be going back if I can help it.
