Seleziona in bottiglia mostruosa, vintage e chicche introvabili. Locale caloroso e accogliente, proprietari gentilissimi e appassionati. Bello bello“

“Diamond in the rough! Campania is about as barren as you can get for beer in Italy with the exception of maybe Puglia and Calabria. But hold the phone. This place has one of the best vintage lists I have ever seen. They also have many draft only beers from a brewery called Chiostro. The owner Gianluca has a very discerning pallet and only has the best. Food is excellent, try all the different bruschetta! Prices are very good. The only thing is that it is a bit off the beaten path but well worth the trip. One of my top three in all of Italy.“

“8 to 10 pumps, and 1 handpump. An unbelievable choice of Belgian and English ales, plus the local Claustrum range from Il Chiostro, some Italian and other specialities. Ranges of aged beers, as Thomas Hardy’s, Ola Dubh, Courage IRS, and others, baffling English specialists. A driven and enthusiastic young staff, run by Yuri and Gianluca, whose knowledge and application are incomparable. A kitchen that turns out local, hearty, healty and plentiful food, a marvel to compare to the beers. A choice of +/- 250 malt whiskies from Scotland, Ireland, Japan, bourbon from the USA, etc., also containing (very) special bottlings. Tutored tastings, foodpairing, invitation of third parties to apply their knowledge. And all this in the most unlikely, but very likeable places. Who couldn’t love this eight, bad dwarf? If you are in the neighbourhood, missing this is a sin. It is even worth a very long detour from your planned trip. If not a trip in its own. Maybe one point of criticism: I found the kitchen frying odours sometimes a tad too pervading in the pub for clear smelling beeraromas.“

“Surely the best pub below Rome with hearty meals at a modest price. Once there try the "SSS" stout beer brewed by De Molen just for this pub!“

“THE place in southern Italy as far as beer culture and selection are concerned. Gianluca and Yuri are awesome hosts and will offer detailed explanations for all of their offerings. A huge display of vintage bottles and walls covered with beer paraphanelia are proof that these guys are serious purveyors and will set the mood for an unforgettable evening of tasting. Keep up the good work!“

“One of the best place to drink beer in the southern Italy, but if you consider all the country, this place is quite overrated.“

“That place impressed me. It’s hard to believe that you can find in the south of Italy a such great pub. The rank of De Dolle and Struise vintages is incredible! You can also find other rarities like courage imperial stout. The staff is kind and competent. They like to talk about beer to the passionate customers and show every bottle they have in the cellar (and trust me the have MANY MANY bottles). beer is ALWAYS poured in the proper glass, not exception. The only wrong thing with the pub is the bottle prices, very very expensive (a westy blond 17€? only few beers are actually under 7€, awerage 10/11€ ), the beers on tap are definitely cheaper, and good selected anyway A smaller italian version of the kulminator? could be... Not easy to find but highly recomended! EDIT:29-12-10 I have to say that they lowered the prices lately. A good point“

“Surely the best place to drink beer in the South of Italy (below Rome) and one of the best in the entire nation, Ottavo Nano provides a massive range of european beers, especially belgian, with a special care for vintage: you may find at least four different years for a single label (for instance: Tsjeeses, Stille Nacht, Thomas Hardy’s, Pannepot, Rochefort, Oerbier, ecc.). Service is first-rate: every time I’ve been there, waiter miss not a glass. Gianluca, the man in charge of beers, is very friendly and enthusiastic about showing the entire pub vintage collection, closed and ordered in a display cabinet where respectable rarities appears. Maybe, prices for some bottles are quite unapproachable, but apparently he won’t sell them yet... ;)“
