82 /100 Gulating Ølutsalg Bergen - Vestkanten (Beer Store) LODDEFJORDVEIEN 2 Bottle shop with a huge selection of craft beers.
82 /100 Henrik Øl og Vinstove (Bar) ENGEN 10 Bar with a really good selection of craft beers.
80 /100 Vinyl Bar (Bar) KONG OSCARS GATE 8 Bar with a good selection of Norwegian craft beers.
70 /100 Kolonialen Bar (Bar) SYDNESHAUGEN 11 Kolonialen is a combined small grocery store, cafe and pub. Not a place for hardcore tickers but really nice to see five beers on tap from Kinn. I enjoyed a fresh Kinn Vestkyst. Patio in front, store and bar when you enter and a bar and more seating downstairs in the cellar. I liked the rustiqe atmosphere downstairs, with dimmed lighting and stone walls. A nice neighborhood pub! (Visited September 13th 2024)
| 58 /100 Ad fontes (Bar) SYDNESPLASSEN 7 This is a pub for students, run by students but is open for all to visit. The entrance is a bit hidden at the back of a concrete building. Spacious inside with varied seating. Simple interior and typical student bar atmosphere. Beers from Lervig on tap and decent bottled selection from Lervig too. I was looking for "Lervig Ebrius", a beer made for this bar. Sadly, no cans available at my visit. Friendly service and draught beer at a dececent price, even for non students. | 38 /100 Sjøboden (Bar) BRYGGEN 29 Stopped by on a rare, sunny day. Inside wasn't available, had to sit outside. Norwegians love the sun! Not an epic beer list, but a few good options ... check the bottle list! Don't know why this one is on Ratebeer and several other nearby bars/pubs aren't ... there are several with some different offerings, so shop around. |
62 /100 TORGET 2 Visited in Sept 2024. There was a brewhouse in the place, but it clearly wasn't being used, and their were no house beers available. They had about 6 taps of other Norwegian craft houses (beer and cider), but I wouldn't call this an active brewpub. Nice spot in the center of tourist muckery with a nice view of the harbor. Pleasant staff. Decent but limited beer menu. Food was good. Like everything in Norway -- expensive!
58 /100 NEUMANNSGATE 2A Visited 30.05.24 for a 7 Fjell Pilsner and a burger. Five beers from 7 Fjell and one from Voss Bryggeri on tap. Also a few on cans. Next door to Bergen kino. Friendly service. The burger I had was very decent, although a bit too much on the very well done side. A good place to drop in for a burger and beer, but not for spending the evening. The front door was fully open on my visit, and it was quite chilly inside.
76 /100 Huset Pub (Bar) VESTRE TORGGATE 20A This bar i in a side street almost invisible. Nice selection of craft beer counted 17 taps and some bottles. Nice evinroment with live music. The place was crowdy when we visited on a saturday evening. This place is definitely worth a visit again. Visited 11.11.2023 with Bryne.
80 /100 Sjøboden (Bar) BRYGGEN 29 Located on Bryggen, used to be not intresting at all beerwise, but now they have changed. They had a good selection of beer on 14 taps, mostly interesting craft (and few Hansa). Ok bottle selection too. Good service and nice environment. Visited 11.11.2023 with Bryne.
82 /100 Sjøboden (Bar) BRYGGEN 29 I guess I have not visited Sjøboden for a beer since 1996 (!) Just macro pils back in those days. Nowadays a very good selection draught beers from Nøgne Ø. Possible the best NØ selection in Bergen. House beer: Nøgne Ø Sjøboden Jubileum, this pub celebrates 40 year anniversary in 2023. Also NØ High Five, Grønn Jul, Hvit Jul, Rød Jul, Easy Living, Bavarian X-mas, My Big Fat Greek X-mas and Julequad. Great Christmas selection from NØ! Even a new cider from Kvestad on tap. Superfriendly and talkative service too. The building is a part of the world famous «Bryggen i Bergen» The first wooden building was from 13th century, after a fire in 1702 a similar wooden building was built. This is the building today. Live music every day, but not at our early visit. Recommended place! (Visited November 11th 2023 with Nilsas and my oldest daughter)
86 /100 TORGET 2 Up stairs on the third floor, a busy restaurant/ bar im Bergens tourist central, the harbour & fishmarket. That said it wasnt too busy and service from the hard working bar staff was excellent.
82 /100 Vinyl Bar (Bar) KONG OSCARS GATE 8 Good selection of beers and wasn't too busy. Good service and range of beers
86 /100 Apollon Platebar (Bar) NYGÅRDSGATEN 2A Great combo of Record shop and bar which im surprised more places haven't tried. Typical Scandinavian service but an excellent range of beers to go witj the vinyl
80 /100 Vinyl Bar (Bar) KONG OSCARS GATE 8 26.05.2023. Cool place! The play vinyl records by the bar. Good selection of beers. Nice athmosphere, nice people behind the bar and its a great place to be at. 👌🏻
| 74 /100 FJELLSDALEN 5 Got a nice and cool trip around the brewery
Friendly and helpful staff
Absolutely a nice place to visit
Quite ok beer selection in the store also |
| 80 /100 Apollon Platebar (Bar) NYGÅRDSGATEN 2A Combination of bar and record store, which results in a nice alternative music vibe. Great beer selection with a huge draft list. Prices are high, but it's relatively cheaper than most other places, especially for the quality you get. And bonus points for the Lemmy picture in the bathroom.
Service is of course stoic, as the Norwegians are, but they are friendly. |
74 /100 Vinmonopolet Bergen - Bergen Storsenter (Beer Store) VINCENS LUNGES GATE 5 Good vinmonopolet, with a vast selection of quality beer from all around the world, including some really interesting Norwegian beers. High prices of course, but that's how it is in Norway. Recommended.
68 /100 Huset Pub (Bar) VESTRE TORGGATE 20A We went here to watch the football match between Norway and Sweden (3-2) on a Sunday Eve. Crowed and a very good vibe since the Norwegian team won the match. A fairly typical brown, spots pub with lots of TV screens spread around a bar on the right side when entering the main room. Surprisingly good range of beers on taps and cans/bottle. During the match I had draught beers from Full Cirle (UK), Gipsy Hill and Nøgne Ø's delicious bitter called Old Salt Tavern. Their taps also had beers from Amundsen, Brew Dog and, of course, best selling lagers from Hansa. Hard working staff, still very friendly. Central location in the upper part of Engen area, just before the stairs leading up to the University locations. (Visited with Kjell 12.06.2022).
32 /100 Altitude Aleworks (Bar) FLESLAND A least this bar has one tap and two bottles from 7 Fjell. Otherwise it is ordinary beers from Ringnes/Carlsberg. Why not expand with more bottles from the local brewery 7 fjell? (Visited June 12th 2022)
56 /100 TempoTempo (Restaurant) DOMKIRKEGATEN 6A Restaurant and bar in retro style. Beers? Well, it's the only place I have seen as many as nine taps from 7 Fjell. Impressing! For most beer geeks not a place to seek out new beers but to enjoy food and classic beers from local heroes 7 Fjell. (Visited June 11th 2022)
66 /100 Huset Pub (Bar) VESTRE TORGGATE 20A Huset Pub is a sports bar with decent beer selection. Varied and comfy seating inside and a nice patio in the backyard. Craft beers from Amundsen, BrewDog, Gipsy Hill and Full Circle. Very friendly service. (Visited June 11th 2022 with my wife)
58 /100 Cafe Bergen (Restaurant) STRANDKAIEN 6 A combined cafe and deli store. Good selection cured meat, cheese and fresh fish. We visited for an early lunch and found out that beer and cider selection was quite decent. Two taps from 7 Fjell and more in bottles. Also five bottles from the cidery Hardangergutane. Local food, beer and cider! (Visited June 10th 2022 with my wife)
92 /100 Gulating Ølutsalg Bergen - Vestkanten (Beer Store) LODDEFJORDVEIEN 2 A Gulating store with a large selection of beer. Friendly staff. Worth visit again when in Bergen.
78 /100 Vinyl Bar (Bar) KONG OSCARS GATE 8 Friendly staff. OK music. Decent selction. Worth visit again.
76 /100 TORGET 2 Lovely view to the harbour. Friendly staff. But they dont understand the norwegian names to the beers. Lovely food. will visit again.
80 /100 Vinmonopolet Bergen - Bergen Storsenter (Beer Store) VINCENS LUNGES GATE 5 The best Vinmonopolet I have been to. A large selection of beers, no comparison, and friendly, Norwegian assistance. I bought interesting Amundsen and Pohjala imperial stouts and a De Molen barley wine. Worth the effort to locate.
78 /100 Apollon Platebar (Bar) NYGÅRDSGATEN 2A I visited Apollon Platebar on a extended stay In Bergen. First ever place I’ve been to like this, half beer bar and half vinyl record shop. Not sure what the employees are more attentive to. I had a line of four tasters, three average at best and one very good pastry stout. Not an inexpensive place to try new beers. But a good encounter, all in all.
78 /100 Røyk BBQ (Bar) VASKERELVEN 6 This place is like a Kinder Surprise, three in one! Røyk BBQ is the restaurant were we enjoyed great food. (Røyk=smoke) Adjacent is the bar called Ginial, 16 taps but also good selection Gin. Outside there is an own entrance to the upstairs bar Kråken (The Crow) This is kind of a sportsbar, opens late and closes late. Same beer selection all three places. I have chosen not to split these in three different places. Same owners, same beer selection and in the same building. Efficient service. Also a verified Untappd venue. A place not to miss when in Bergen. Just some steps away from Henrik Øl og Vinstove, which is around the corner. (Visited October 16th 2021 with my three daughters - an expensive visit for me!)
60 /100 Kafe Løvetann (Bar) KLOSTERET 16 A bit outside the lively bar area downtown, more like a local pub and cafe. For sure a small bar but spacious outdoor seating facing a small square. Beers from 7 Fjell on tap and in bottles. Well attended, I had problem finding a place to sit down for a while=one beer. Do not expect finding a new beer, just enjoy a beer and the atmosphere. (Visited October 16th 2021)
70 /100 Folk & Røvere (Bar) SPAREBANKSGATEN 4 A very centrally located corner bar that is open all days 11.00-02.30. Outdoor seating under awnings on two sides in front. Well attended early this Saturday, mostly adult clientele, not sure how it is later in the evening. Laid back atmosphere, jazz music, varied seating and a long bar counter where I chose to sit down for a beer. Decent tap selection but nothing crazy and hipsterish. Beer menu available. Verified Untappd venue. I went for a classic beer, Ægir IPA. I remember it as a good one but not this time. Too malty and some notes of butterscotch. But hell yeah, I enjoyed my stay at this bar. (Visited October 16th 2021)
50 /100 Coop Obs! Lagunen (Grocery Store) LAGUNEVEIEN 1, 5239 RADAL Decent beer selection, much better than the neighbouring grocery store Meny. I would like to see more craft beers from small breweries in a large store like OBS, but there were a couple from Kvernafossen and Sognefjord. Otherwise, the usual suspects among craft beers. The shelf with ciders was way better. A bottle or two ciders with ABV 4.7% from Åkre, Hardanger Cideri, Ulvik, Hardanger Saft- og Siderfabrikk and Haugsfrukt. Not bad. (Visited October 15th 2021)
54 /100 Vinmonopolet Bergen - Lagunen (Beer Store) LAGUNEVEIEN 1 A rather average beer selection at this Vinmonopolet bottle shop located in the huge shopping center, Lagunen Storsenter. I had to use a brochure showing the floor plan to navigate to Vinmonopolet. I found the two bottles I was looking for. (Visited October 15th 2021)
86 /100 Henrik Øl og Vinstove (Bar) ENGEN 10 Visited 12.09.21. Nive place on the first floor. Delightfully free from background music. Nice atmosphere. 37 beers on tap at my visit. Friendly service.
86 /100 Apollon Platebar (Bar) NYGÅRDSGATEN 2A Nice selection on tap . OK on bottles and can. Friendly staff. Worth a visit every time you visit Bergen
76 /100 Vinmonopolet Bergen - Valkendorfsgate (Beer Store) VALKENDORFSGATEN 6 This is probably the best bottle shop in Bergen. Located central downtown. About 300+ bottles of good various selectin. Service is excelent. Visited 01.07.2020.
66 /100 Kafe Løvetann (Bar) KLOSTERET 16 Nice little cafe' on Klosteret in Bergen. Easy to find. Nice in and outdoor sitting places, counted 4 taps with 7 fjell/Kinn beers and aobut 25 bottles of nice various ok selection. Great service. Not to be compared with Henriks, but still worth a visit and nice atmosphere. Visited 01.07.2020.
78 /100 Vinmonopolet Bergen - Bergen Storsenter (Beer Store) VINCENS LUNGES GATE 5 Beste pol for øl i Bergen, du trenger ikke gå lenger enn hit.
80 /100 Vinyl Bar (Bar) KONG OSCARS GATE 8 Stor bar. Ikke bare øl, men også brennevin. Musikkøkter. Moderne retro design.
94 /100 Apollon Platebar (Bar) NYGÅRDSGATEN 2A Utmerket. Musikk, vinyler og øl. Perfekt kombinasjon. God stemning. Fin bar. God smak.
76 /100 Henrik Øl og Vinstove (Bar) ENGEN 10 54 taps. Classic and modern. Presence of Norwegian crafts. On the first floor.
74 /100 Kafe Løvetann (Bar) KLOSTERET 16 Great little place in one of the most scenic areas of Bergen. 4 taps only but with first class beers from Kinn and 7 Fjell. Great coffees and a tempting menu if you need sone solids. Very friendly staff. Will certainly be back next time I'm in Bergen.
42 /100 Altitude Aleworks (Bar) FLESLAND Fairly decent for an airport bar. Rather friendly service and relaxed atmosphere on the middle of the day on a Tuesday. Didn't see any places better for beer here at the airport. Selection isn't much to write home about, but at least they have Bergen! on tap....
80 /100 Vinmonopolet Bergen - Bergen Storsenter (Beer Store) VINCENS LUNGES GATE 5 Wow! Surprisingly large amount of the beers are in nice fridges in the walls. Didn't know that the special Vinmonopolet was moved to here, so this was a nice surprise. Great selection of both Norwegian and imported, should be possible to find something interesting here for basically everyone. Certainly a must visit for any beer lover visiting Bergen. The only similar store I've seen is the specialty Vinmonopolet in Trondheim.
34 /100 Meny Bergen Storsenter (Grocery Store) STRØMGATEN 8 Only macro in the fridges (mostly cans of Hansa). A small, but fair enough selection of micros in the shelf next to the fridges. Some smaller local breweries like Ekangersmuget was represented, but not really impressive in any way. The Vinmonopolet store next door has excellent selection and most of it is even chilled. Not much reason to go here, really, go next door....
