“My wife and I stopped here on a Sunday night 7/23/23 This place was the closest beer place to the Air BNB my wife booked. In an industrial area near some active trains although once inside we didn't hear them. 20 or so taps with maybe a half a dozen brewed on location, the others I assume are brewed in their facility in GA. The beer brewed here are marked on the beer board if that is important to you. lots of options and kudos for having big stouts for me in the middle of summer! Beer was good to really good imho. Large open industrial feeling room with lots of tables, some seating outside as well. Counter service for ordering drinks and food, they give you a number stick for your food order and bring it to your table when ready. Small menu with chips and dips burritos tots wings nachos salad and lots of taco variants to choose. I stepped out of my comfort zone and had a fantastic cauliflower taco as well as a chicken and a chorizo. My wife loved her mahi mahi taco as well. Pricing was decent vibe was chill. If I end up in Birmingham again I wouldn't hesitate to stop in again but there are also a lot of other places I didn't try.....“

“Tucked away in an industrial section of Birmingham, this is a hidden gem. Open, high ceiling location with significant beer and wine selections. Beer is sorted by style, with local beer conveniently broken out. Also, many coolers. Also includes a bar with a big number of options on draft.. Very polite and engaged staff who are helpful, but not hovering.“

“Large airy place, old industrial decor. 12 own beers on tap. 4 packs to go in the fridge (no mixed ones though). Friendly service. Good Wi-Fi.“

“Visited early on a Sunday. Tried a number of local beers, available in reasonably priced 4 oz pours. Also, shopped for canned beers, of which there were many from the local area (including Miss and Louisiana). The first person to assist me draft selection was very knowledgable. The other servers were not quite as beer savvy but got the job done. All in all, it was an exceptionally worthwhile visit.Highly recommended!“

“We came here on 23.7.2022. Our last brewery in Birmingham. Another huge place with plenty of outside seating. Overall looked a bit unorganized. Beers, we had a sour and a Mosaic single hop, were average.“

“We came here on 23.7.2022. Very close to Good People Brewing. Another positive surprise in this great city. We had the World Cup winning IPA. Outstanding Not normal for Alabama they serve food. Quesadilla was quite good. Would definitely come again.“

“We came here on 23.7.2022. Birmingham is a very positive surprise. Would have never expected so many good breweries here. Another HUGE place. A lot of outside seating. Large brewery very visible and nice tap room. The beers we had were all quite good.“

“We came here on 23.7.2022. Huge place with 3 tapping areas. One is outside close to a huge music stage. Brewery is not visible. Seems they brew most of their beers at Good People Brewing. Very limited beer selection when we visited. The Saison and tropical IPA were both very good. Only big downside: they serve beers only in plastic cups. Have never seen so many drunken people in a US brewery. Unfortunately they had a Phish concert live stream when we visited“

“We came here on 23.7.2022. Huge brewpub located in an old industrial building. Good visibility of the brewhouse. A very unique atmosphere. One separate hall for special events and a place for gaming machines. The Imperial Red Ale was excellent. Great place !!!“

“It's closer than I expected before coming here, but this is the best brewery I went to in Birmingham. Creative beers (emphasis on sours), all done well and all looking like what they were shooting for. Space is huge and ware-house-y, with lots of outdoor space. If you only have time to go one place in Birmingham, I would go to Hop City. But you'll already be very close, so might as well stop by here, too.“

“I found their selection a little weighted towards IPAs and sours when I visited. Nice heated covered outdoor space, appreciated on a cold night. Beer was generally very well done, but they did have a barrel aged stout which was just the right amount of thickness to be probably the best Alabaman beer I will have. So I'll bump their rating accordingly. Others weren't anything I'd go out of my way for.“

“~50 drafts and a few good ones in there. Also obviously very plugged into the local beer scene; Birmingham is close to being ready to break out, although for now, the best stuff here still comes from elsewhere. That kind of caps this place's upside. Phenomenal selection given the location, but Alabama doesn't get a ton of great stuff from out of state, which caps the upside a bit. Would still make this my first stop if coming back to B'Ham though.“

“As noted, taster flights are on a board shaped like the state of Alabama. The beer itself is on the very good side of fine. Nothing really jumps out for good or bad, but what they do is generally well done. Would be a perfectly fine addition to any city's beer scene. In Birmingham, that makes it a standout, but not by much.“

“A candidate for best brewery in Alabama. What they do they do a terrific job on. Still new so nothing ridiculous but, e.g., best lager and best sour I had in Birmingham, and ones which would hold their own in top-end beer markets. There is something happening here, but what it is isn't exactly clear. But let's try to make it happen, eh?“

“Space is terrific - basically a giant warehouse. Beer is very good, but not quite up to the standards of the space. That said, I kind of think this or Birmingham District is the best place in B'Ham. So, very good, just not quite what I hoped.“

“Man, I just can't get away form mcberko .... So I came here on a tap takeover for their RIS. Their RIS was very good, but to be honest, if it were released in Seattle I might grab one bottle of one variant. Here, ~12 variants, some creative ones, all a bit artificial (but very tasty). For Alabama standards, this place is great. For a place with a great beer scene, this place is fine. Birmingham is trending towards fine; I hope these folks can keep up. They will have the advantage of their space, which is just fantastic. Lots of outdoor space on astroturf, huge brewpub.“

“About 20-30 mins driving north of downtown Detroit, but close-ish to many other worthwhile spots. Large interior, with tons of bar and table seating. Almost 20 house taps, with flights available or individual 5 oz pours available — very reasonably priced at $1.50-3.50 per 5 oz pour. Extremely friendly service. Beer quality was very good. I didn’t order food, but they had some vegan options (including the Impossible Burger). Worth a stop when in Greater Detroit.“

“I came here on 12.11.2019. Large brewery with a nice pub and merchandising shop. Roughly 20 beers on tap. Too many very strong beers (12%) unfortunately. Liked all beers I tasted and service and music were great. Definitely A brewery you should visit when you are in the area.“

“Visited after dinner on a Tuesday. Located on the edge of the shopping district of Birmingham. Parking is in the lot behind the brewery as well as on the street. The design of the brewery is very indoor / outdoor with large garage door windows open to a big outside space with picnic tables, and a big bar area. The beer selection is 18 house beers, available as full pours, taster flights or growler. Food looked good, though I had already eaten. Friendly but kind of slow service. Brewery visible past bar. Nice setup, tasty beers. (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors) I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“Visited late on a Monday morning. Place was, predictably, dead. Atmosphere was real laid back, casual. About a dozen beers on tap. Both of the ones I tried were quite decent. Overall, a decent stop and an easy one since there’s so much in this area. Service was friendly.“

“Visit over lunch early on a Sunday afternoon. We took our place at the bar and were quickly served by the friendly staff. About a dozen taps were running. 4 oz flights are available for $8. Beer was good but nothing unexceptional. Ambience was pleasant. They don’t serve food but allow you to bring in whatever you want. The sushi taco restaurant next door was excellent.“

“Amazing place right in the heart of Birmingham. Perhaps two dozen taps and shelves and shelves of beer. Most of the focus is on regional beer, particularly Alabama, Georgia and Florida. However there’s stuff from all over the U.S. and a decent international collection, particularly from Belgium. It’s interesting to find a Belgian beers on a shelf in Birmingham that are impossible to find in most regions of Germany. Apart from that fact, no great rarities that I saw, but the depth is impressive. A must visit if passing through Birmingham.“

“Interior is rather open, but seems cozy near the main bar. They have a ping-pong table if you're interested in a game. Their selection is expensive and varied - they don't have 17 variations on an IPA, but a few sours, a few dark beers, a few pale ales. Servers are alert and friendly, but still efficient. There's not a bad beer in the bunch. Choo-choo in for a pint or two, or a flight - and grab a six- or four-pack to take home.“

“This is a fun place with a relaxed, casual atmosphere. Large tasting room has eclectic furniture and art so you can choose how as well as where to sit. “A fairly new microbrewery that is worth visiting and supporting. They have at least eight beers on tap, all good. Interior is cozy but not cramped, servers make you feel welcome, TVs are not intrusive - though they may get turned up for a major sports event. Lack of signage can make the place hard to spot, but it is worth finding.“

“In a pretty nice neighbourhood (for Birmingham), this is a fun tasting room. A dozen or so taps, with flights of 4 available for $12, rather high. Beer quality was pretty medicore, with nothing much standing out. Nonchalant, non-caring service. Okay stop.“

“Just outside the city centre, this is a good looking place, with a warehouse-like tasting room. A dozen or so taps, with 1/4 pints (4 oz pours) available for $3-4, so a flight of 5 ends up being a whopping $16. Hoppy beers were improperly constructed, and the other two we tried were passable - overall, pretty weak beer quality. Service was nonchalant, but pleasant. There was a taco truck parked out front if you need food.“

“Visited later in the evening on a Friday. Easy to find near UAB and downtown, right across the street from the Baseball Stadium. There are 4 parking spots out front plus street parking all around the area (though I imagine this would be tough during a baseball game. The brewery is huge and open, with patio seating out front, a large deck of the side, and a ton of space to sit and hang out indoors. I really liked the look of the place. Beer selection is 6 or so core beers plus 5 seasonals. There are also a bunch of 750 bottles and cans available to go. The night I visited, they had a Taco Truck that was fantastic. Overall, enjoyed my visit.

82 = ***½ (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors)

“Clearly one of the top 3 breweries in Birmingham The place has great atmosphere. The inside bar is dark wood with high ceilings (old industrial type building) with the brewing equipment mostly visible. There is a large outside patio area...more like a yard...big enough for a decent size stage too. They have some bands of regional to national note (Government Mule was advertised as coming soon). They also own a separate sours location out the back and across the parking lot in a different set of buildings (closed when we visited or we would definitely have checked it out). As for the beers...I had a flight of 6 of their 12...and enjoyed the Battlefield IPA, Vanillaphant Porter, Warning Shot DIPA, Spring Street Saison, and Train Hopper Pale Ale. I’d like to come back here when they are having an event...especially in the warm weather when the outside is being used. This looks like a fun place...and we enjoyed our visit and especially the beer. Definitely a must visit if passing through Birmingham.“

“visited May 3rd 2016. Very spacious with a nice outdoor area, but we hung out at the bar, of course, and ordered tasting flights. Beer is decent - plenty of seasonal and experimental brews and staff was really friendly. This was our last stop in Birmingham and I left the city all teary-eyed. A beautiful scene with great vibes. Definitely a place to watch.“

“Visited 3.5.16 in the afternoon. That’s pretty much the standard in Birmingham - large space, bricks, friendliness, a bunch of taps of various styles and varied quality. It’s a good thing, right? We really enjoyed spending time there. There’s a pretty big beergarden outside, as far as I recall, but we sat inside, right by the taps. Flights available. Don’t think they serve food over there, but if there isn’t a food truck in sight, go to Melt next door.“

“Visited 2.5.16 at night. Beautiful and vast place with small elements that differentiate the design from other taprooms - loved the hop cone lamps and the wooden sculpture of the map of AL. Plenty of beer on tap - we sampled 9. Beer ranges from mediocre to exceptional. Service good and informative - directed us to other places in town. We loved the place and were sad to leave. One of our favourite places in a newly favourite city.“

“Had time to visit 2 breweries while passing thru Birmingham this past 4th of July...after stopping first at the great "Good People Brewery"...this was my second choice based on the reviews and suggestions of staff and patrons at Good People. Overall I enjoyed the visit here...the taproom is large and open and there are outdoor spaces in the form of a back patio and front alley (although too hot out to enjoy either of those when I visited). The décor was fine...nothing really special (nice open view of the brewery if the garage door to the back patio is open)...staff was accommodating. As for the beer...average...to a couple above average...but nothing to write home about...or make a special stop for...again...I was here because I really came to visit Good People (don’t miss that one). Nothing really negative about Trim Tab...and I’m sure I’d visit from time to time if I lived locally...but if you are passing thru Birmingham...this is not a must stop.“

“Good People is the must brewery to visit while in Birmingham. The place is big and well constructed...recently expanded I understand too. The best thing (or at least close 2nd to the beer) is that the people there really are "good"...actually great! Michelle and Erin took care of me this past 4th of July. I arrived right at opening and was pretty much able to enjoy my first hour there just conversing with the two wonderful ladies about the beer...about the brewery...and best of all...about a whole lot of other topics. I tried all 9 beers and the standouts for me were the IPA, Pale, Brown (and that’s saying a lot as that’s a style I usually don’t prefer), Coffee Oatmeal Stout and the not to be missed "Snakehandler" Double IPA. All in all...a great brewery and a great visit on a beautiful, hot, lazy, 4th of July afternoon. Thanks Michelle and Erin!“

“Probably one of the better...if not best brewery in the greater Detroit area. They had 16 beers and 2 ciders when we visited last Sunday. The taproom is very nice...kind of industrial chic I guess you’d say. There was also an outdoor patio as well as a covered patio. I could see this would be a fun place to hang out when crowded. It was slow though on this past Sunday afternoon when we visited. Note that with the large number of beers...there was a large variety of styles...nonetheless...there was a very strong hoppy representation. Norm’s Raggedy Ass IPA was a good one...along with Oops-A-Hefe (lots of hops)...and Norm’s Simcoe-nicety IPA. This place is a must visit while in the Detroit area...having said that I should probably clarify that Griffin Claw might only by an above average location in a more craftbeer centric area (like Grand Rapids)...but here...it’s a must visit.“
