54 /100 OLD BRIDGE ROAD
“This is a traditional old 18th century village inn that used to sit on the main road through the village which has since been diverted. Built from the local ironstone which gives a warm glow in the evenings. The interior is knocked through but not aggressively so still leaving plenty of nooks and crannies. The pub is food orientated like its sister pub, The Red Lion down the road, but drinkers are catered for. Also like the sister pub the beer range is purely Marston’s unfortunately with 4 Hand Pumps and plentiful kegged Euro Fizz lagers of the dull variety. Popular with lunch time diners taking advantage of the midweek special offers.“

Red Lion (Bar)
HIGH STREET
“A welcome return for this roadside pub that was run down and eventually shut by Fullers after buying it as a thriving Free House. The pub has been closed for a few years, we remember it in its heyday but that is not what I am rating now. The pub has had a lot of work, opening it up completely, now with a modern bar along the back as you enter the pub from the A361. Tastefully modernised inside, it is food orientated but with room for the drinker. The unfortunate aspect is that along with its sister pub in the same village the owners have decided to strike a deal with Marstons ensuring that only their beers are available, including ’guests’, the Top Hat is a re-badged Marstons EPA, the range of kegs are all Marstons. There is a large car park with very pleasant outdoor seating areas plus a childs play area. All in all its good to see this popular pub back with enthusiastic staff, the issue for us is the Marstons tie.“

“Traditional 2 roomed Village pub on what was the main turnpike through the village until the road got moved. 40 years in the same family, the Hook Norton beers are at their best in here, they also pride themselves in their ciders. Friendly and welcoming, well worth a visit.“
