“Only went to the beer shop next to the pub. It had a good selection of all Scottish beer. A few breweries I’ve not tried before. Including isle of Aaron and Islay also their own beer. Prices seemed reasonable.“

“Scottish pub just off the main road. Wouldn’t have stopped here if it wasn’t for the bottled beer shop next door. Definitely in need of a little TLC, interior’s a bit tatty with tired old carpets etc.. We sat outside in the beer garden and I tried a few halves. Condition was pretty bad, although their own house ale was ok. Glasses were scratched and dirty. We ordered fried haggis balls which were ok. Worth stopping at the shop next door, but I’d skip the pub.“

“2014-06-29. They have a lovely garden. I’m not quite sure what to make of the indoor decor of the restaurant half. Tartan carpet, and a lovely fireplace stove in the one side and a large solarium area. Food was excellent, mushroom soup, deep fried haggis balls, steak and ale pie, superlatively good sticky toffee pudding. Friendly service seems a touch distracted but otherwise good. Just two of their own beers on tap today, some guest taps that don’t excite and a modest selection of bottles. We walked here from our B&B in Callander and there are some friendly sheep and Highland Cattle along the way. :) The food was ultimately better than the beer but a good stop nonetheless. The bottle shop next door was closed before we arrived unfortunately. Glad we went, and worth a stop but but I might skip it if you aren’t planning to eat. “

“Great pub with its own microbrewed beer on tap, good food with a nice coal fire in the corner and friendly, polite staff. Top marks I wish I lived nearer to Callander every time I visit.“

“Sat in the garden on a lovely day while cycling between Strathayre and Callendar. Great food, decent beers and the birds were singing.“

“Brewpub in the heart of the Trossachs just outside the town of Callendar. Brews 4 of its own beers and has a good collection of bottles from other Scottish Microbreweries. Shares its location with the Scottish Real Ale Shop which is run by the wife of the owner. Friendly service, good selection of well cared for ales and quality but a bit pricy pub food. Place has a passion for real ale and although it is a bit isolated it is an essential visit for the real ale tourist to Scotland.“
