“In the very centre of Colne's commercial area, it's one of the older buildings amongst the mix of these and the new that have sprung up over the years. Inside its has had a recent makeover, with quite a durable fixtures and fittings look, somewhat chain-like but in the traditional mould. It's not really a beer place at the moment, catering more for a later night volume crowd given its mostly macro choices on the bar in the area to the right after its central entrance. There's an area to the left of here as well. Shows live sport.“

“The furthest of three micropubs as you walk down the side street just where the town centre proper begins on its western side. This micropub in a shop unit beside and the same size as its other two neighbours perhaps offers the best mixed selection of cask, keg and cans, and perhaps appears to be the most expensive given the wider range on offer. It arguably has the most relaxing of decors too. There's plenty of worthwhile options in here.“

“Next door to Boyce's Barrel in a same size unit, the experience basically only differs in that you can get keg ale here as well as cask. Worth a visit and as there's three micropubs in a row here as part of a very short crawl between them all!“

“The owner says there’s four banned words in this small converted shop unit that is a real ale bar - ’Lager’, ’Keg’, John Smiths’ and ’Caravans’. I can’t explain the latter but this is a no-nonsense pub with an owner dead set on having five rotating ales at anyone time. He’s also trying to get them from national micros as he believes the other pubs in the area serve the local ones well enough already. The bar at the back of the square room is small and sports just the five aforementioned cask pumps. The seating is against the side walls on benches that face thin wooden high-level tables only big enough to place your glass on. If you’re not sat on one of the benches you’ll have to stand up against the table as there’s no seats anywhere in the middle of the room.“

“Formerly a Timothy Taylor pub called The Shepherds Arms,, it has recently been renamed and now focuses on a regular pub crowd with sports events prevalent. I have only visited this place when it was a Timothy Taylor pub but having walked past it earlier I did notice it has retained three real ale pumps all of which had a beer from the Marston’s range - there’s no longer beers from its former owner here. This is pretty much everything you expect of central pub in a reasonably sized town and with various entertainments for its local clientele, but its also large enough inside to find your own space if required. There is a function rooms with its own bar upstairs, and this includes a small balcony area that looks out over the road and church.“

“Named after the bandmaster on the ill-fated Titanic, this is a very cosy, well decorated Wetherspoon with some nice tile work on the central pillars. There’s a small patio towards the back and two rows of ales to choose from at the bar. The seating is all on the ground floor, with a small split-level lower section to the right after you walk in.“
