Freed Man (Bar)
329 DOVER ROAD,
“In a shop unit in the final commercial area before the road through Walmer heads to Dover. This decent sized space, almost a square room has four real ales dispensed from cask in a rear area of the bar and real ciders from a box in the cold room. It has a cosy dimly lit darker wooden decor and design with nautical elements all around the micropub.“

Strand Wine Comany (Beer Store)
6 THE STRAND
“Visited on the afternoon of Saturday June 2nd 2018. Located just off the sea front and a mile or so from Deal Strand Wines is a typically offie with an above average beer selection. 60 or so cans and bottles from local brewers including a dozen or so from Time and Tide and a few that we didn't see in Smugglers Records allied to Tiny Rebel, Beavertown, Yeastie Boys and others. Friendly service offered. Not a go too destination but a solid enough offie if you're in the area.“

Freed Man (Bar)
329 DOVER ROAD,

We left the The Berry and continued our pub crawl tour on Saturday 12th March 2016, the next port of call taking us to a newish Micro Bar called The Freed (Man) in Walmer. Much like the previous two walks this was about 15-20 minutes and took us up a slight rise heading in the general direction of Dover, I know that because we came in on this road and left via this road. Btw the we on this crawl, being me, Loz and Ian (Harrisoni)

The pub is located on the main Dover Road, appearance wise it isn’t particularly attractive, I seem to recall it being grey with large windows offering lots of natural light to flood into this place. Not sure what this way in a previous life, I am guessing it was likely a shop of some deScription in a previous life. Inside it is a little different to the Just Reproach as this place has a bar at the rear and therefore if one applied the strict Micro Bar criteria this wouldn’t quite be a pedigree. It had a comfy feel with tables and seating shoehorned, however there was a lot of sea related bit’s and bats adorning the inside of this place.

The beer choice was pretty good with four beers on offer, mostly local as I recall. The beer was dispensed by use of a Victorian cash register apparently acting as the beer pump engine. It was quite busy on our arrival and we hadn’t to wait 5-10 minutes before a seat become available.

I liked this place, it seemed to cater for a good cross section, dogs were allowed, it was friendly and like the other two places it was bustling, however of the three beer drinking establishments it was pipped by the other two overall I felt, still it would definately be on my itinerary for a future crawl in this area.
