“A characterful pub in the town centre with an interesting selection of ales, some of which are brought direct from the cellar.“

“Town-centre pub, part of the normally banal Greene King portfolio but far from the chain’s norm. There’s a sense of community about the place and the beer selection, eclectic on occasion, ensures that the clientele is relaxed and interesting. Beer condition normally spot-on. Bar staff are normally polite and knowledgable. 10 minutes walk from Godalming’s Rail Station and 5 minutes from Record Corner (for the benefit of music geeks)...“

“Located in the heart of Godalming, around a 5 minute walk from the BR station, the Star dates from the early 19th century and holds plenty of character in this respect. A real locals feel to the clientele base but I’ve never felt unwelcome on my visits here. 8 hand pumps adorn the bar usually split between real ale and cider. They run regular festivals to take account of both of these products. The usual macro keg stuff lives side by side. Good trad boozer with an ever changing range of guest beers which are listed on their website (although these can be a little out of date!).“
