“Basement brewery and tap room, which is entered through a small door between properties in the middle of the commercial New Road Side - it's not the most obvious or easiest to find but it's very close to Hop Shack. There's two rooms to drink in, with the service area and brewery equipment flanking the first as well as their takeaway selections on some shelves, and another beyond this which is full of card and board games as well as some retro console entertainment systems. You'll find a fairly full range of their cask and keg in here, and probably whatever their latest special brews are.“

Hop Shack (Bar)
135 NEW ROAD SIDE
“On the south side of New Road just a couple of doors along from the Horsforth Brewery, this is a small shop unit pub with a central to the side wall bar, which has half a dozen keg taps, mostly from local craft brewers, backed up by a couple of fridges full of craft cans - and some places to sit too. You can people watch through its large front window while you sup.“

“Chain restaurant on the main New Road with a pleasant terrace area at its side. I'd seen a photo of a cask pump on the bar before arriving, but this was not there anymore, just a plethora of keg beers, which did have a couple of local keg available from the fairly local Salt Brewery - two of their regulars. It's nice enough inside, although it's not a drinkers venue, they just happen to have a few decent options if you find yourself eating here.“

“In the commercial area on the eastern side of Hall Park with a village-like feel. Named after the street it's on, it's a slightly more modern affair than the name might suggest but the mix of cask and keg ales are worthy for a look-in, with several Horsforth Brewery options available when I visited. Other local microbrews were available.“

Pooky & Grumps (Beer Store)
92 NEW ROAD SIDE, HORSFORTH
“On the North side of New Side road a few doors east of Banyan, took a little while to find as they'd changed the name to Spooky for the Halloween period. This is a cafe and deli with a good number of bottle and canned brews, with some very good international choices available, although nothing you probably haven't come across before. The best of the selection though is the canned brews from Horsforth and Brass Castle breweries, which probably change over time when new ales become available.“

“The second best pub in Horsforth, after The Abbey. Part of a mini-chain of pubs in Yorkshire all of which offer great beer in a fairly traditional setting. Very well kept beer, excellent selection of locals with a few from further afield. Good range of bottles all served in the correct glass. Food can be a bit hit and miss. Best off just getting a packet of excellent pork scratchings!“
