“One of the more boring BrewDog locations insofar as taplists, at least on my visit. Lots of taps, but almost all their own and none of the more ambitious beers. Same deal as weather: 1/3 pints available and free tastes. Bottle/can list was lesser than most big cities’ locations. If you’re in HUD, may as well pop in but don’t expect much.“

“Traditional spot with mostly cask ales and the outpost for Ossett Brewing. I wasn’t too enthralled with anything on, but they do have a more than average number of ciders on (6?). Smallest pour is 1/2 pints, but staff will do tasters. Nothing all that special here but may as well include it when doing the circuit in HUD.“

“This must’ve been a lot more impressive years ago. How this is the #1 rated place in the UK escapes me. It’s a solid spot for sure though. They have close to 40 taps, with lots of casks, kegs, and ciders. Skews heavily towards traditional British ales, with a few more modern craft styles. 1/3 pints available. Large place with ancient but comfy furniture — very traditional, homey place, with lots of separate sections. If you’re in HUD, definitely worth a hit.“

“Cool spot, a 3-minute walk from the train station. Old brick building with plenty of seating over two floors. 20 taps, 1/3 pints available; mostly modern styles with a few traditional beers scattered throughout. Small, well-curated bottle selection, 20% off for take-away. Very friendly service. Definitely worth a stop if in HUD.“

“Larger than it looked from the outside with a car park behind. Felt very much like a local pub, with gas and darts. Plenty of Ossett group beers including 5 or so Rat beers. Certainly worth a visit if you’re in the area.“

“This is one of the Red BBQ franchise BrewDogs. Fairly large open warehouse style with the normal Brewdog look and feel. Only 1 guest beer on, but they said they normally have more. The food is the Red BBQ staples so decent. Exactly what you’d expect from a BrewDog.“

“This is now more a bar with a couple of beer fridges than a bottle shop. 18 taps with a great range of uk beers, a few local beers included. There are two room one with the bar and fridges, the other with some tables. Dog friendly. No growler fills.“

“Awesome spot. 8-10 casks served in proper condition. Welcome and warm service. Cheap. We tried 6 of their casks all in prime condition. Right next to "Kings Head" which is also a cracker. Lovely.“

“Recommended by Bill, a random guy I met at the Calderdale CAMRA festival, so we met here for their own mini-festival, celebrating the lizes of two late regulars. Central bar with tables in two rooms, seating is more comfy in the front room than on the side. Nice range of cask ales, a total of 19 for the festival, including their normal offerings. Pies looked tasty but I had already eaten. Solid place.“

“Directly over the ring road from the University, opened late 2021. Split level with plenty of seating, mostly benches. Some outside seating also iirc. There are a couple of shuffleboard tables. 28 taps plus food from Reds BBQ. There's never enough guest beers at Brewdog bars these days to make them worth visiting every time“

“Stopped in on my way back to Manchester. Big place, not many present and service was a bit of a struggle. My pints of a stout from Keighley were more than decent. Station bars are a bit hit and miss, this just about gets my vote.“

“Corner pub to the north of the town centre. Cozy atmosphere. Has served Taylor's Landlord for at least 30 years. It used to be a Taylor's pub, now a freehouse I believe. I had a pint of Landlord in there last weekend, £3.30 a pint“

“Visited with friends on the 5th October 2019 after IMBC session. Near to the city centre around 10-15 minutes by foot from train station. This place is one of the beer temple on the earth. Very clean and clear place. Nice decoration and very confortable seat. Selection is just amazing. Very nice range of cask beer with nice breweries and type of beer selection and very attractive price! Tap selection is also very nice, and abordable. I didn't check directly the beer selection but from the website it looks also amazing. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient! Best adjectives to describe them! A must to visit!“

“Voila! Rat & Ratchet is THE PLACE If you only have a limited time in Huddersfield. Drop the other ones and use your time here Just about 15 min walk from the train station And old traditional English pub that have kept its charm. And have been transformed into a fine solid beer place. No problem to get a sample. I only wish they could sell small samples instead. They only offer half pints. And 10 half pints is to much for one person. But ok if you are more people “

“Traditional pub not far from the Grove, very good choice of ales, the Rat beers being particularly impressive. My pint of King Rat went down well and prices are pretty reasonable for the ales on offer. Another fine pub in Huddersfield, a town that punches well above its weight in this regard.“

“You do get the impression that this is very much a pub for locals. Not unfriendly, but I did get some curious looks from some of the clientele. Five hand pumps on display, the ale I sampled was drinkable, although condition could have been better. I'm glad that a pub like this thrives in this day and age, as previous reviewer states prices are on a par with Wetherspoons.“

“Near to the lower part of the ring road close to where you'd head off towards the stadium, this is a corner music oriented pub with a decent enough focus on real ale, although having been here a couple of times I do find the selections to be more well-known staple offerings than anything experimental, which is fine if this is what you're looking for. The rotund bar is right upon you after you enter.“

“More bar then pub, with a couple of entrances either side of the building. It's split level inside with the service area at the top part. Keg ales dominate in here, although the selection is not that extensive, and having been in a few times over the years it doesn't rotate too often either.“

“Big two room boozer next door to the train station. Around 8 to 10 cask beers on offer plus a couple of real ciders. A little rough & ready but the beers were well kept. Worth a look if changing trains“

“Very eclectic pub with various themed rooms. Large modern cask selection with a half dozen additional kegs. But the real find is the bottle list hidden behind the bar. A great selection of UK, Northern Europe and US bottles. Must visit.“

“Nice open layout behind the brewery with lots of space, barrels, and wood. 10 taps and 3 casks when I was there - all Magic Rock. Pretty good selection of cans as well. Super friendly staff. Definely worth a visit just for the Magic Rock stuff.“
