70 /100 16 CHURCH STREET
“Right up against the main road through Ilkley, I visited this pub a couple of years ago, but given it's in a historic building I'd imagine much is the same. It had a worthy mix of its own ales and guests on a central bar in a very cosy and traditional setting with lots of dogs enjoying the atmos of the place too. Serves food.“

Martinez Wines (Beer Store)
35 THE GROVE ILKLEY
“Located towards the western end of The Grove road, this mainly wine store stocks a small selection of ales but also some continental lagers that are difficult to find in the regular outlets and they were reasonably priced.“

“Occupying one corner of the main central car park that seems to push the rest of the town centre to the streets surrounding it, this place is marketed as a ale house and wine bar probably for the fact that although it is in a decent looking brick building it doesn’t have a traditional pub look. It is more bar like with a carpeted extension area above its restaurant which is downstairs. The look works but it’s insignificant as most people come here for the fine selection of drinks including several rotating real ales that include plenty from Yorkshire and a large collection of bottled beers from Belgium and the USA. There’s also a couple of these in kegs. Dogs are allowed in here and there’s a small garden area next to the car park that has some very unsympathetic wardens if your pay-and-display ticket runs out. Food is served here.“

Yard (Bar)
REAR OF 30A, BROOK STREET
“Small bar in a stone brick building behind The Crescent Hotel which occupies a corner on the main road in the town centre. The double level building is small but both floors are utilised and there’s a cosy feel to most corners with a updated traditional feel to the decor. The warm fireplace adds to the ambiance. If the weather is good the enclosed garden area is just a good a place to sit. At the bar several pumps give a decent choice for a place of this size. Food is available too.“

68 /100 THE MOORS SHOPPING CENTRE, SOUTH HAWKSWORTH STREET
“Occupying part of a small new build shopping centre, it has an external entrance for all hours. It’s not too big inside so it’s all quite close in terms of layout and busy enough, probably too much at the weekends with its mix of locals and day trippers to the quaint town centre. The decor is traditional with a dark wood look, but very comfortable. The bar has two rows of ale pumps for its real ale selection.“
