| 52 /100 UL. OPOLSKA 22 Sigh. So many memories with this one. Some 20 years ago we used to go there to enjoy the taste of non mass produced beer, as it was I think one of two restaurant breweries in Poland back then and the shops were crammed full with different beers - so long as those were pale lagers and strong lagers. First restaurant, then they transformed it into a nig disco with 3 dance floors, metal detectors at the entrance and shady people both among the patrons and the security. They closed shop a couple years ago, then supposedly reopened, then sold it to someone. Allegedly it is bound to be re-opening soon and I hope the beers will have been improved upon, as even back in 2012, when my frame of reference was very limited, I found them distasteful and the one I tried a year ago in theit small pub in Katowice center was still below average. |
| 84 /100 Browariat (Bar) FRANCUSKA 11 Bar with an excellent selection of craft beers. |
| 82 /100 Bierland - Piwna Kraina (Beer Store) GEN. JÓZEFA LONGINA SOWIŃSKIEGO 5A Beer store with a really good selection of craft beers. |
Dobry wybor piw, kwasow i innych trunkow. |
| 66 /100 Biała Małpa (Bar) 3 MAJA 38 Monkey themed bar, in a strange semi-enclosed, semi-open area. The enclosed parts smelt of old greasy fried food, or drains, so we sat outside. Had an impressive array of beers - theoretically 4 hand pulls, and 20 other taps, and lots in the fridge too. Alas, only one of the HPs was on, and it was on-but-off, IYKWIM. Ooof. The other taps were pretty OK though. 5 x 120ml tasting tray was possible - thank you very much! Prices decent. Decent English spoken. Something perturbed me about the loos, I can't remember exactly what. Maybe I was having a piss in a broom closet that didn't lock properly, or something. If you're local, you can jump on the draught beers fresh, so I'm sure this is a gem for them. Alas, just one data point from a flying visit didn't give the place the best chance to show its strengths. For narrower error bars, you're advised to visit here each time you come to town! |
| 60 /100 MARIACKA 15 Fancy-looking place, seems like it's a hotel restaurant or something, but they were happy to let a scumbag like me in, so all's good. Huge place, there's a dining area towards the back, a more sit-up place at the front, and a huge terrace outside. 5 house beers, and a sampler tray offered. Nothing particularly good, alas, but they did have some slightly dodgy stuff on at the time ("multivitamin wheat"). Not sure what to think about this place. Staff were friendly, at least. |
| 46 /100 CyberTap (Bar) FRANCUSKA 12 Marduk didn't want to come here, but I insisted, as I saw about 6 ticks, although several of those were available-everywhere macros. Card system is a rip-off - they don't give any change back, so don't overload it at the start. Also had whiskies and wines available, which did mean they had small glasses, if you know where to look for them. Most of the taps foamed like hell, but we were wise to that, and got the smallest possible pours - for the tick! Other customers seemed a bit crazy, some conversations shouldn't be had at that volume level. Heck, we got some beer ticks and a place tick. Done. Probably never again. |
| 68 /100 Browariat (Bar) FRANCUSKA 11 Front bar is tiny, but there's always the option of heading out to the side either into a little dungeon or up to a fairly pleasant looking and very spacious terrace that alas suffered from spurious aromas from the environs. Staff was very friendly and chatty. Beer selection was pretty varied - 8 taps and loads of bottles and cans - mostly Polish stuff, but bizarrely they had a big selection of Lehe stuff too after a recent promotion. Alas no ticker-friendly pours, but they're still not universal. Happy to give the barman a little gift from home as the place impressed us so much. A must-visit place in Katowice. |
| 64 /100 Upojeni (Bar) SW. JANA 10 Situated as if it's a hotel bar just off an enclosed courtyard, which is probably the prettiest part of the location, but the bar itself is fine as long as you like dark. 14 taps, but alas the smallest pour is 300ml. There's a large fridge of cans and bottles, mostly Polish, but we did see some Sori bottles too. The taps were very crafty, so had as many downs as ups. Food was fairly eclectic: Marduk seemed to have no complaints about his pizza, and our kimchi pastrami sandwich was excellent; alas, our baba ganoush was a little sub-par. Prices weren't cheap. Staff were pleasant. Decent place, one to go on the priority list. |
| 90 /100 Absurdalna (Bar) DWORCOWA 3 Entrance is on the corner. Inside it goes back and back until you reach the bar. Order your food and drink at the bar. A good selection of beers inc. a 16% barley wine on our visit. Decor was retro stile and colourful. Service was excellent. |
| 62 /100 CyberTap (Bar) FRANCUSKA 12 Just opposite from the Browariat. It's pay as you pour type of place. Meaning you pay some money to card and you can choose how much you pour to your glass. No return, so make sure not to put too much at once.
We took small pours and managed to get quite few ticks. To most of the beers there was way too much foam. But that's how they do money I guess. |
| 62 /100 Biała Małpa (Bar) 3 MAJA 38 They got 3 real ale casks, but only 1 was operation. We had one and it was off. Place itself reeked of foul aromas. Outside was better.
Otherwise good selection of beers, bit lazy bartender.
They do flights and English was spoken. |
| 70 /100 MARIACKA 15 On the main street in "old town". Looks huge, clean and tourist friendly. They do only 5 beers and serve flights. Beers were ok, nothing special, but also not bad. |
| 82 /100 Browariat (Bar) FRANCUSKA 11 Under the railway tunnel and you are there. This place has many rooms and also a beer garden. Good selection of taps and cans. English spoken. No flights, but 0.33ml portions served.
Selection of beers from around Europe. So if you are looking for country ticks this might place to visit. |
| 72 /100 Upojeni (Bar) SW. JANA 10 Tries to be Nordic pub or restaurant hard to tell. Plenty of taps and they do food. Prices reasonable. English spoken and no flights.
Food was mediocre. |
| 96 /100 Browariat (Bar) FRANCUSKA 11 Just under the railway and down a few steps. This place is a maze of tiny rooms. It did feel a bit like being in a dungeon. Upstairs there is a semi covered terrace. 8 beers on draft, some from a nano brewery. An extensive list of cans/bottles all listed on blackboards around the main bar area. Service was excellent given how busy it was. |
| 72 /100 Upojeni (Bar) SW. JANA 10 Located down a passageway and up a few steps to the left. 14 beers, but the board was difficult to see due to people sitting at the bar. They need to move it higher or elsewhere. There is also an upper floor. Service was really good. So was the food. Not typically Polish. |
| 82 /100 Biała Małpa (Bar) 3 MAJA 38 Enter down a passageway. Lots of seating in the passageway and even a sandy area with deck chairs. The door to the bar is on left. Order at the bar. A good selection of beers and ciders. 1, maybe 2 of the beers were in cask and served through a handump. Decent English spoken. We stayed for a few rounds. |
| 52 /100 Upojeni (Bar) SW. JANA 10 Upojeni, located in a backyard, but with door and own rooms. 12 taps. Not very exciting place. Just okay. |
| 84 /100 Absurdalna (Bar) DWORCOWA 3 Absurdalna has entrance from the corner, to Mariacka ulitsa. "Probierna piwa i sztuki" was stated. Sztuki is art. Interior, a result of someone went to many flee markets. I became so happy. Relaxed. Even strange music was cool. Of course I found new polish beers. Cardpayokay. |
| 74 /100 MARIACKA 15 Browar Mariacki is a Big restaurant with terrasse. Modern interior. English by staff is alright. Menu tempting. But I went for their own beers. I got degustachna doska with all. Very pleasant. Recommendable. |
| 56 /100 Browariat (Bar) FRANCUSKA 11 Stairs steep but not many steps. Many rooms, as catacombe, with wooden barrels as tables, one with single records on the wall, lots of beer effects around, cash okay. No taps found on my search, so it is based on bottles and cans as far as I can conclude. |
| 70 /100 Kredens Pub (Bar) UL. SW. JACKA 9 Kredens Pizza Italiana, a Ristorante, with their own house beer Kre. Interior vintage, many varied tables, family photos in frames on the rather dark walls, an old piano, small bardesk. Cozy place. |
| 76 /100 Odessa Market (Grocery Store) WROCŁAWSKA 54 Pay parking. Lidl is only 200 metres from this Odessa. Here are beers from Baltics, Sakartvelo, Ukraïna, and more. Also a lot of kvass. I found several news to me. Cardpay okay. |
| 90 /100 Bierland - Piwna Kraina (Beer Store) GEN. JÓZEFA LONGINA SOWIŃSKIEGO 5A Wspaniały klimat i obsługa, bardzo dobry wybór piw polskich, od czasu covidu mniej piw zagranicznych. Numer 1 na Śląsku! |
Warty polecenia. |
| 84 /100 Biała Małpa (Bar) 3 MAJA 38 Świetna selekcja piw. Super klimat. |
| 100 /100 Bierland - Piwna Kraina (Beer Store) GEN. JÓZEFA LONGINA SOWIŃSKIEGO 5A Najlepszy sklep w okolicy. Dają dużo i tanio. |
| 72 /100 Duży Ben - Katowice (Grocery Store) GLIWICKA 125 Sklep spożywczy z jedną lodówką i witryną jest tu. |
| 82 /100 STAROMIEJSKA 8 Firmowy pub Browaru Cześć Brat! Genialne jedzenie, w tym wędzony arbuz. 4 piwa na kranach. |
| 84 /100 Browariat (Bar) FRANCUSKA 11 Great place with mostly inported beers ( UK, Czechia, Belgium)
Knowledgeable staff, lots of space. Among the bests in Poland. |
| 74 /100 Dobry Wybór (Beer Store) SOWIńSKIEGO 5A Wybor rozny od globalnych piw czeskich (Sporo Opata i Primatora), niemieckich (zadkie piwa nie craftowe) i nawet Gruzja w 2 odslonach. Reszta to PL craft, niektore zadkie okazy, premierowe, Hazy Disco Pinty najnowsze.
| 92 /100 Bierland - Piwna Kraina (Beer Store) GEN. |
| 82 /100 Odessa Market (Grocery Store) WROCŁAWSKA 54 Sklep z piwami z Rosji, Ukrainy, Litwy, Gruzji, itp. Wybór raczej koncernowy. |
| 100 /100 Bierland - Piwna Kraina (Beer Store) GEN. Polecam! |
| 90 /100 Bierland - Piwna Kraina (Beer Store) GEN. JÓZEFA LONGINA SOWIŃSKIEGO 5A Small bottle shop with possibly the most extensive beer selection in Poland. Very good, knowledgeable service, welcoming atmosphere. |
