76 /100 VELYKA ZHYTOMYRSKA 8/14
“One block to the north from Majdan, where Velyka Zhytomyrska and Volodymyrska streets cross. "Black Pig" on googlemap, but Black Piglet Chorne Porosya it is. Basement restaurant. Cozy inside. Half the taps their own beers. Many pork and ukrainian dishes. I had cheese plate, mashed potatoes and barbecued pork meat, and their three beers. Good state. Card pay possible. Price level somewhat more than average. No open wifi, but not totally closed ceiling, mobile signals came through. Waitor spoke some english. Nice place indeed.“

Punkraft (Bar)
IHORIVSKA 14A
“With Punkraft written in red on black, it was easier to find. Basement pub, modern semi minimalistic style. Various chairs. Some small metal tables. 24 taps, mostly ukrainian craft. Three Mikkellers and two Lervigs. I had a local kyivan ipa. This is a very good beerspot.“

Gonzo Bar (Bar)
KOSTIANTYNIVSKA ST, 19
“Approxmt 2kms north of Majdan. Only a modest door, so you need being accurate on googlemap to find it. From the door stairs down to the beer bar with Gonzo beers and one lonely Vidro. Twenty taps, or was it one more. Also one beerfrigegator. Young tattooed bryunetka at work. She understood "haer aercde oel o fo". I spoke norwegian. She guessed right. Had a frew nice beers.“

“Nicely location in a backyard. Both mass market and ukrainian craft on tap. Ukrainian dishes. Staff are young, so they speak some english. Found interesting kyivan beers.“

“In the rustique Podil region, surrounded by hundred years old buildings with rickety balconies may soon fall... just 3km walk north from Majdan. Inside it looks good, pale yellow brick walls, heavenly upholstered couches, wooden tables, lots of home cozy items around. Their own beers and home made dishes.“

“Street runs steep here, so it might ve a challenge at winter. Now summer, renovation, half the building. Cantine like style inside. Svitle is good.“

“On the block next to Ukraine Hotel. They brew their own ales. If the dark is on tap, it is the best choice.“

“Location close to but not too close, to Khreschatyk. Monday evening, only ten guests, very friendly and angliskyi speaking man welcomed me in. Twenty taps, both craft and factory, both ukrainian, one german, one czech, one catalan. Nice electronic board. I took a sausage plate and a Underwood Kyiv Lager, which was cold and freschsh. Very good beerspot.“

Beer Club Naturlih (Restaurant)
B.KHMELNITSKY 3, STREET
“Nice location hundred metres from Khreschatyk. Still car traffic outside. German beers and other imports dominate the taps. QRcode for beer menu, but i used http://www.naturlih.com.ua/menuen instead. Found a new german, Stiftung Helles. Not a craft beer spot if you're looking for that nor ukrainian beer. Mostly I agree with Alex Leit.“

“Few steps from Majdan. Tiny place. Just slightly larger than a bucket (vidro). Eight tables. Minimalistic. No wc. CCCP-tank worked effectively. Recommendable coming early. Did not try food. Dozen taps. Gonzo on all. Had Gonzo then. Soviet range of choices hehehe. Later the krasunya came at work, but then i had to go.“

“Cellar beer pub with kitchen, next to the famois square Majdan. Heavy metal music at 12 noon a monday, nice for me. Somewhat limited range of beers. I agree to Alex Leit on that. But the few are in good state. Plus for early open and nice food“

“Visited in August 2019. A bit off the beaten track, but given that it's arguably the best craft spot in Kiev and an Uber drive from the city center costs about 4 euros, it would be an unforgiveable negligence to miss it. It looks like an old sawmill carefully redesigned into a beautifully lit hipsteresque craft beer hotspot, with a spacious, pleasant patio, very nice waiting service, very good food and, well, VarVar beers. Beerwise you won't find anything here that isn't available in Kiev's multitaps (particularly in Punkraft) but the atmosphere is unforgettable. Easily the best brewery I've been to, and I've been to quite a few.“

Punkraft (Bar)
IHORIVSKA 14A
“Judging from the name I was expecting it to be heavy on BrewDog stuff but alas, fortunately it was VarVar which dominated the impressive array of 39 taps (though there were also some BD beers). Great, ingenuously lit, long bar, stone walls, arcade machines, a fancy storage room for kegs behind a glass door, very nice service - everything about this place makes me want to come back. Clearly one of the best spots in Kiev.“

“Visited in August 2019. Multi storey place, very centrally located. Stone walls separated with black steel mesh. Sort of a bit ancient and a bit industrial. Very nice service, terrific food - the borsh with salo was the best I've ever had. Nice atmosphere as well. Tasting tray available and their IPA is one of the best beers that you'll find in Kiev. Absolutely recommended!“

“Visited in August 2019. This was one of only two pubs in Kiev that didn't make a visual impression on me. However, if you look for the laid back, youthful student atmosphere of some pubs in Belgrade or Prague, then this one is for you. Pretty basic, smallish, with high tables, nice service and twelve rotating taps with local offerings. It's centrally located, so you won't miss it anyway.“

“Visited in August 2019. Looks like it wants to make the impression of a faux village tavern, though I wonder which village tavern could boast such nice, leather coated furniture. Anyway, only one of the three beers on offer was actually drinkable, so it was a brief adventure for the ticker.“

“Visited in August 2019. I've been told they are no longer open 24h but close for a few hours at around 6 in the morning, which should do the trick. Anyway, this one is a really pleasant rock joint in Kiev with great atmosphere, very good and affordable food (the borsch with vodka is a protip). And of course 20 taps of rotating craft beer. We typically visited this place to eat in the afternoon and then after partying in the city center around 2 AM. One of the best, most authentic places I've been to.“

34 /100 ROHNIDYNSKA ST. 1/13
“Visited in August 2019. Styled as a biker bar, complete with a few rocker patrons when I was there. To each their own, the design is well made but not enticing in my case. We sat outside on the patio (leather couches). The beer is dirt cheap and the ticker may choose one of the many outlets of Porter Pub around the city. No tasting trays but half a liter of any of their beers is dirt cheap, about 1,20EUR. With that being sad, the beers aren't worth even that.“

88 /100 BASEINA ST. 2
“Visited in August 2019. An absolute gem that you don't want to miss. Conveniently located just opposite the entrance to the Bessarabian food market, we stumbled across it by chance, seeing a sign with the words "Fckng Craft Beer and Kitchen". From the outside at ground level it looks like a small, claustrophobic den. That's because the heart beats downstairs. It is spacious, well designed and a great place to spend your day and evening. As most craft venues in Kiev, this one has food (I had a really good pho soup). The 23 taps are rotating and you can see the offer updated on the fly on LED screens. No tasting trays but the serving sizes are 200ml and 400ml. The selection is as good as can be, regarding that it's limited to local craft beers. Fabulous place.“

“Visited in 2019. An absolutely lovely place, as it is within the great Bessarabian Food Market and looks basically like a wooden shack that you would expect to sell watermelons but it serves craft beer from 10 taps. And the watermelons are stacked outside, you can see them through the window. Sadly Tsypa beers are not exactly the creme de la creme, but the place itself is as authentic as can be.“

54 /100 BASSEJNAYA 2A
“Arena itself is a posh place full of expensive shops and upscale strip joints, so no wonder that the brewpub looks really expensive. Now, we didn't have any food but from what I remember of a quick glance at their menu it was not excessively expensive, with prices matching those in semi upscale restaurants in big eastern European cities (e.g. fillet mignon 12EUR/200g). The beer prices were even cheap, I'd say, with 2EUR per 500ml and 1,50EUR for a 4x100ml tasting tray, poured into crystal (!) goblets. Unfortunately the beer quality was matching its price, so unless you're out to fancy dining or are an avid ticker (or would like to get some beer before entering Penthouse night club around the corner), this one is not really worth a detour.“

“Visited in August 2019. The fact that it has a reception at the entrance makes it look rather upscale, though by no means forbidding - the girl was lovely. Dimly lit, stylish and simply pleasant to sit in, as most of Kiev's craft beer spots. 20 taps, flights available, the selection was focused on Varvar while I visited. Great place.“

“Visited in Summer 2019. Spacious, rather upscale establishment despite some biker paraphernalia here and there and an industrial overall impression. Looks fit for a concert where rich people will attend. With that being said it looks truly great inside. Must have cost a fortune but it's definitely not soulless. We ate breakfast here and it was fabulous. Out of the beers only the dry stout did the trick. Tasting trays available. Very nice place overall, a shame the beer didn't match with the rest.“

“⁃ A place where all of the country's small craft breweries will be represented. ⁃ A place where you can drink / share beer on the spot, you can take it with you or order delivery (as fast as possible). ⁃ A place where all the beer will be waiting for you in the refrigerator. ⁃ A place where you can always appreciate the creativity of home brewers. ⁃ A place where there will always be something new and interesting from the import. ⁃ A place whose assortment you can influence, but I will be responsible for it)) ⁃ A place where you can pre-order, get a loan for beer, get a recommendation, buy a pig in a poke, and be satisfied with the result))“

“New visit 2021-07-27 the bar pub restaurant east of Khreshatyk Hotel: I ordered рулька and seasonal pale ale. Waitress spoke anglyiskyi. Nice fresh beer. дуже свіже пиво....... . . Old visit 2020-07-27 the shop in Tsum: I visited torgovyj centr Цум, on Khreshatyk 38's sixth level. Found a pair of Pyvna Duma beers and fifteen other ukrainian microbrews. Helpful young man at work monday morning. Selection was not overwhelmingly impressive though. When Sil'po has more Varvar... .. .. go figure.“

“Cellar bar, 2 rooms, bar to the right as you enter, vaulted white ceiling, comfy sofas placed in small niches, music played at my visit was too jazzy for me, but the beer selection almost made up for it, big blackboard showing the tap menu, also verified venue at UT, so pretty easy to find new beers amongst the 20 taps, good and fast service, one of the top places in Kiev for shure“

“Inside Bessarabtsi market you will find this great bar/bottle shop. Very tiny with 5-6 high stools to sit and drink. 10 beers on tap and at least 15 bottles in the fridge for takeaway. Beerlist on a big blackboard over the bar. Almost all from Tsypa, but I managed to find other brewers as well, and grabbed some bottles as well. Good service, no english spoken, but we managed .
