62 /100 Diesel Nacional (Bar) AV.20 DE OCTUBRE 2271 Incredibly cool steampunk style bar. Really something different than everything else I’ve seen. They have some 10 bottles of Bolivian craft beer. Niebla for example. Absolutely worth checking out, when considering how few Bolivian beers there actually are. |
62 /100 Sol y Luna Cafe Restaurant (Restaurant) CALLE MURILLO ESQUINA CALLE COCHABAMBA Probably as good as it gets in Bolivia. Selection ranges over craft beers from the whole country but the international beers (mentioned in the other reviews) seem to have vanished. Food was very good. One evening was with live music. I enjoyed the place very much but it probably was not related with the beer. But as I said, probably as good as it gets here. |
60 /100 Sol y Luna Cafe Restaurant (Restaurant) CALLE MURILLO ESQUINA CALLE COCHABAMBA Nice little cosy cafe/bar with a good selection of local and international beer. Only 3 beers on draught but they seem to be dedicated to craftbeer. |
22 /100 AVENIDA MONTES 533 The bartender was some surly guy who lit up a cigarette and poured himself a beer the minute he showed up. It’s a sleazy hostel bar, and worse than that any indication that they brewed beer here was missing - they only had one tap, Saya, no specification of which one. You can do better in La Paz. |
64 /100 Hipermaxi S.A. (Grocery Store) CALLE ROSENDO GUTIERREZ NO. 469 This supermarket has a large selection of chilled local and international bottles at the back - probably the best selection you’ll find in La Paz. Stock up, head back to your hotel room, and start drinking! |
74 /100 Sol y Luna Cafe Restaurant (Restaurant) CALLE MURILLO ESQUINA CALLE COCHABAMBA This warm and cozy cafe - restaurant is run by a Dutch owner. However, the menu is international with a very nice variety of dishes and desserts. A bit pricey for the local standards, but tasteful and with great quality. Regarding the available beers, someone can find Belgian and Dutch imports along with a good selection of local micros. Very friendly staff. |
74 /100 AVENIDA MONTES 533 Stayed here for 2 nights. Nice place, very modern, well equipped facilities. A free beer and pancake breakfast for every night you stay there basically pays for the 8-9 bucks it cost. Nice bar/hangout area. The bartenders knew absolutely nothing about the beer. I received the most confusing "description", which noted exclusivity based on color in regards to ale/lager. After parsing through this I gathered that the Negra was "dark" and the Ale was "Ale-like". The only beers available were the main 3 of Saya, but the new brewmaster told me that he was soon going to have his own rotating tap. Also, they are going to start bottling soon. |
72 /100 AVENIDA MONTES 533 Visited there two nights in a row and it was a pleasure to at last drink some good beer in South America. There was a fun atmosphere and the bar staff were friendly and helpful. I can´t comment on staying there, but for any beer lover visiting La Paz, this place is a must. |
