66 /100 Deli Baker’s Lohja (Grocery Store) HOSSANMÄENTIE 1 A deli store at ABC Lohja gas station selling local produce from the Lohja region and from small producers in Finland. Baked goods made in the back, coffee from a local roastery, cheese from small, Finnish producers. Their breads and pastries are pretty good. Prices are a bit steep on most other stuff, but with such a small store no wonder. Regarding beer, they stock smaller breweries 4,7% ABV and below. Some rare ones from breweries like Maistila, Sonnisaari and Sauvo (avoid these like the plague) and sometimes have their own beers for special seasons. Nice to visit as I often travel between Helsinki and Turku. |
62 /100 Deli Baker’s Lohja (Grocery Store) HOSSANMÄENTIE 1 A rather small selection, but very heavily focused on the tiniest breweries in Southwestern Finland, so definitely a place to visit. |
54 /100 Deli Baker’s Lohja (Grocery Store) HOSSANMÄENTIE 1 This is a deli- store, located in a gas-station- market, selling mostly artesan eatables, but with a smallish bottle room/section. Sells bottles of mostly local, otherwise bit hard to find beers and ciders, with abvs of 4.7% or under pending the new 5.5%- law next year. This used to be the only place where you could find rarer stuff from south-western finland, not even available in the helsinki kamppi/ruoholahti k-markets, but nowadays you might find the same things in pien too. Nice place to check out if you’re travelling between helsinki and turku, but as the selection is a bit volatile, you really should visit regularly to catch the rarer things. Happens to be right along my drive to work, so consider it my local bottle shop nowadays. But as said, would definitely stop by if travelling from helsinki to turku, but not sure if it’s worth the drive by itself now that pien is open in helsinki. And you really need to drive here, public transportation really doesn’t work. Finnish craft-beer prices. Service: don’t expect much beer expertise, this is a store mainly for foodstuffs. |
70 /100 Opus K (Bar) KAUPPAKATU 6 Good collection keg beers. Monthly different keg beer. Could change more often and have more changing collection.Finnish micro beers usually available. |
66 /100 Opus K (Bar) KAUPPAKATU 6 Very nice selection of keg beers and some hard-to-find bottles as well. Pleasant atmosphere with books all around you. Rather small patio. Friendly staff. |
66 /100 Opus K (Bar) KAUPPAKATU 6 New owner (2007) may not have the interest in real ale that the former owner did, but that’s made up for by a good selection of keg beers, and an interesting selection of bottles, several of which I’ve never seen before in Finland (Rogue, Isle of Skye). Pleasant atmosphere, and friendly staff. |
60 /100 Opus K (Bar) KAUPPAKATU 6 A quite unique place in Finland: a second-hand bookshop, a quality beerpub - and non-smoking, too! They serve several Finnish micros, plus a healthy selection of bottles. Really a must-see, if visiting Lohja (or anywhere near). The dark atmosphere, with bookshelves (with books you can also buy) surrounding the whole place, is definitely worth checking out. |
