58 /100 LONGDEN COMMON
“Visited on 27th Sep 2017. No longer a Brewpub. New owners and the brewery has moved to pastures new (as yet unknown to me). Nice pub though, bit foodie but three hand-pulls alongside the usual keg options. The cask selections on my visit were from Three Tuns, Black Sheep and Exmoor: all in good condition. Nice country pub vibe, upper class clientele mostly on my visit, staff friendly enough. Had a quick sandwich and chips, decent enough, proper food looked better.“

“Country pub just south of Shrewsbury on the road to Stiperstones. Started brewing again after a number of years, originally as Longden Brewery and more recently as The Shropshire Brewer. There’s about 5 ales in their arsenal (under the Shropshire Brewer name), and although fairly uninspiring, are still worth a stop to try. Usually there’s a choice of 3 on handpull. The decor’s a typical olde English pub feel with lots of old books to peruse and even a nice wood fire burning in the winter. Food is perhaps a bit over-priced for what you actually get, but decent enough. Expect lots of families with kids running around on weekend afternoons.“
