56 /100 Red Lion (J.W. Lees) (Bar) WILMSLOW ROAD A whitewashed coaching house style building, its historic frontage with pleasant outdoor seating has been built on over the years as the pub goes deep with a very modern design, but sympathetically traditional as many JW Lees food pub often are. This is a large pub serving the local area very well with mainly its own regular beers over cask and keg available. |
66 /100 Victoria (Hydes) (Bar) 438 WILMSLOW ROAD On the main Wilsmlow Road passing through the small commercial centre of Withington, this old brick pub is on a prominent position in this nice enough suburb of south Manchester. This Hydes pub prides itself on its real ale selection that includes a good mix from the brewer, its craft brewery arm (Beer Studio) and guest ales from around the country. There’s plenty of ale pumps on the L shaped bar set back inside the large open plan room that includes three different defined areas to sit in which are all comfortably soft furnished. Live sport is show here with football by far the biggest draw in this respect. |
