66 /100 Tap Room (Bar) 中村区名駅3-5-14 The Ratebeer map is showing the wrong location and I can't find an edit button. It is about 10 minutes NE of Nagoya station, on street level, easy to find. We stumbled across this place while looking for Y Market. An interesting, varied lineup of some of the better J-craft brewers. Food looked good. 420ml/¥950 or ¥1100 depending. |
74 /100 64 KIMAE-CHO, NISHI-KU Y. Market built a big new brewery in this industrial part of Nagoya, and they have a small tap room open there on weekends only. About 8 or their beers on tap for good prices--¥600-800 yen for what looked like about 400 ml. They also had about 10 different beers in cans to go, many of which differed from the tap beers. A small place, with few tables for standing. Not sure if they put tbles out in the big parking lot in good weather, but they certainly should. With a food truck, it would be a great place to spend the afternoon. |
64 /100 4-17-6 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU We tried to find it but Google put it at the wrong location. Once I did get there it was almost 10:30, which meant last call (on a Saturday night) and no chance for a second beer.
The beer I had was good, a hazy NEIPA, and the others at our table enjoyed theirs as well. Prices are quite high in my book, almost 1400 for what I believe was a US pint. |
82 /100 7 Days Brew (Bar) 4-4-21 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU Wow, this place rocked. Moved on to 7 Days Craft after Y market . Sooo happy this was on the way back to accommodation - low key, retro r&b at appropriate levels, solid taplist with tasting set, food looks good and wine by the glass looks just as solid. Like one min from nagoya station. Good mix of imports and domestics, tasting sets available but small beer size is a reasonable 270ml. Prices were ok, where as y market went through the roof. Food is extensive, multi-level. Staff spoke good English. Everything was chill and just at the right level. Loved it. When your ears hurt and can take the nose at Y market just walk five min down the road to here |
78 /100 7 Days Brew (Bar) 4-4-21 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU Very cool three story in a convenient location. It has been the last stop on several crawls, so the memory isn't as sharp. Food was good when I ate. Beers were as expected. Patrons were worth a good chat. I recommend popping in, especially cause it's so easy to do so. |
84 /100 Brick Lane (Bar) 1-7-27 NISHIKI, NAKA-KU This place has changed a bit since my first visit. Prices have gone up but so has the quality, both in beer and food. I believe they do some private imports and had a couple of gems on draft for my most recent visit. Food was Great, better than I remembered. Service was friendly and bonus points for dealing with a super cranky beer I ordered. Overall o enjoyed my visit and will definitely stop by for a great burger and a rare pint. |
72 /100 4-17-6 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU Been here a few times and although I highly recommend their beers, the service and value don't encourage trips from out-of-towners. It's very convenient if you're are stopping in the city or live there. Food is very good. |
86 /100 HopBuds (Beer Store) 17-26 FUJIMI-CHO, NAKA-KU Great spot to pick up a couple and put down a couple. Very clean and well displayed, prices were fair, and although the Japanese selection was minimal we were able to pick up several things that didn't get to Osaka. Owner is very approachable and knowledgeable. They do ship for a small fee but word is they will open an online shop in the near future. |
82 /100 4-17-6 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU I came in to Y. Market Brewing one evening by myself and sat at the bar. Although the staff didn't speak English, they tried to make me feel welcome and were very attentive! I had a nice chat with another patron, tried some delicious beers and they even gave me one of their glasses for free when I asked about purchasing one. They've got a great thing going here! |
100 /100 HopBuds (Beer Store) 17-26 FUJIMI-CHO, NAKA-KU This is one of the best bottle shops I've been to in the world (I've been to a lot). Jamie is very knowledgable and passionate about craft beer and it shows in his selection. I love that I can pick a bottle and drink it right in the shop surrounded by other beer nerds. 10/10 |
66 /100 7 Days Brew (Bar) 4-4-21 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU Nice, modern, western-looking bar on three floors. Rather cramped, but this is Japan. Good western-style bar food. Excellent service. Kind of loud at times. Selection was draft only: about 6 Japanese and 4 American beers, all craft. All the beers we had were in good condition. It’s only a 5-minute walk from Nagoya station, and really near Y Market. I recommend stopping by. |
78 /100 4-17-6 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU Very loud place with family restaurant quality of food. Service was fantastic and now they do Small size of beers (220ml), which makes it great for sampling. Prices are so-so. Seem to have 8-10 beers on tap (their own of course). Popular place. Not too far of a walk from Nagoya station. Basically if you want to try a top Japanese brewery from the source this is the place to go.
UPDATE April 2019z So oddly came back here two years later and well. Only 330 and 490ml serving sizes. Staff was just ok, food was much better than before and volume, yeah that definitely hasn’t changed. Prices have really gone up with 800-980 for 330mls. But cans are way cheaper. Odd. Also note beer is served way too cold. So good to order a couple and let them warm up. |
74 /100 4-17-6 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU We called by here twice when visiting Nagoya - once on a crowded Saturday night and again on a quiet Monday. Both times the service was excellent, the ambiance good - albeit different each time - and the beer and food we sampled was excellent. It’s just a shirt distance from Nagoya Station so an easy place to get to from anywhere in town. Well worth a visit. |
64 /100 7 Days Brew (Bar) 4-4-21 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU Just stopped by here briefly for a pint but it seemed nice enough from my limited time there. About a dozen taps which were mostly US crafts but also a couple of local ones. No cover charge downstairs and some complimentary nuts was a nice gesture. |
72 /100 Barley Wheat (Bar) NAKA-KU, SAKAE, 3 CHOME−25−19 I liked this place a lot. That being said, there were pros and cons. Pros were that the food was excellent, ambiance was good, service great and there was great selection of Japanese craft brews. The negatives were the cover charge (which was noted in the review by KansaiBeerLvrs but not advised by the staff in advance) and (if you don’t speak Japanese) the lack of beer info in English - which naturally is a minor issue which can be worked through with the very helpful staff. Overall we enjoyed it immensely on our Friday night visit. (NOTE: the Ratebeer map is not correct. Check Google Maps for the correct location) |
94 /100 HopBuds (Beer Store) 17-26 FUJIMI-CHO, NAKA-KU One of best bottle shop in asia. Have very good selection and reasonable price. You can find rare and special beer here too. |
68 /100 Himmel Craft Beer & Meat (Restaurant) 5-9-5 IMAIKE, CHIKUSA-KU Rather small place, really more a restaurant with craft beer than a craft beer bar. 10 taps on the wall, with 6 Japanese craft beers on when I went. Maybe 20-25 people can fit in. Menu focuses on meat: steaks, grilled chicken, prosciutto, etc. They also have nice-looking pastas and a lot of small side dishes. I was there for an event, and did not eat, but it smelled very nice and looked appetizing. Seems like he gets taps that others don’t usually have, like stuff from Far Yeast and also Hida-Takayama, which is usually very good. Beer prices were reasonably good for Nagoya. Would like to go back for a meal. Worth a stop. |
80 /100 HopBuds (Beer Store) 17-26 FUJIMI-CHO, NAKA-KU Good place for drinking bottles in. Pretty big selection but the ones I wanted to try were mostly in large format and rather (strong and) pricey, so I suggest going with 2-3 other people so you can split stuff. Just a few J craft, the rest being American only, which I don’t necessarily applaud but I understand the feeling. Lots of interesting stuff and a few special rarities on hand as well. Modern Times seems to be the favorite here, at least at the moment. Quite inconvenient location if you are visiting from outside Nagoya, but if you lived nearby you’d come several times a week. |
70 /100 7 Days Brew (Bar) 4-4-21 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU Nice enough place. Young guy I had met before was serving and very enthusiastic. Owner was not very friendly. 11 beers I think, mix of mostly American imports and J craft. Prices are rather high, but no charge. Good place to stop in. |
48 /100 Craft Beer Koyoen Kitte (Bar) NAKAMURA WARD, MEIEKI, 1−1−1 KITTE名古屋 Can’t really get too excited about this. It’s an ok restaurant with good lunch deals and lots of meat. Atmosphere is like a chain restaurant with a bunch of kids working there. They have maybe 4 Koyoen beers, 3-4 Craft Label Beers, and Sapporo Kuro Label. It’s worth a stop if you want to tick any of that, otherwise the beers are crafty and the prices too close to craft. (~¥500 for a taster!) |
70 /100 Barley Wheat (Bar) NAKA-KU, SAKAE, 3 CHOME−25−19 A new place that opened in 2016 about a 5 minute walk from the Nagoya Art Museum. Upscale vibe with lots of earth tones, wood, brick, tile and bronze/steal. There’s also a proper pizza oven on site.
The beers go for 500¥ (240ml), 750¥ (360ml) & 1000¥ (480ml) but as I got served some fancy king prawn so I’m guessing there’s a table charge. Also tasting flight for 900¥ - 140ml x 3. The selection is 2 taps from Suntory then 13 j-craft (Y market, Minoh, Sankt Gallen, Baird, Nest, etc.). A good place with the main negative being the relatively loud hip hop on the sound system when the place is empty. I didn’t know Eminem had a new album... |
58 /100 Craft Beer Koyoen Kitte (Bar) NAKAMURA WARD, MEIEKI, 1−1−1 KITTE名古屋 Sapporo’s Koyoen Brewery now has a place just north of Nagoya station. 500 yen tasters or 1480 for three and their served in cute little boot glasses. If you fall in love with those glasses, they seem to be available for 800 yen. Prices don’t include tax and food outside lunch time (1130am-3pm) is on the pricey side but good. I had a pork steak which was tasty. Service was friendly but average. An ok place to pop in but Y Market and 7 Days Brew are less than 10min away and serve beer that’s light years better, I just popped in for the new brewery tick. |
82 /100 HopBuds (Beer Store) 17-26 FUJIMI-CHO, NAKA-KU Hop buds, about a 5-10min walk from the nearest station it’s located on the first floor of a typical apartment block.
The interior was lots of wood and leather banquettes (with the new leather smell). They have a good selection of the better choices from AQ Bevolution, Nagano Trading and Ezo Beer plus Shiga Kogen and Baird. Nothing from Europe so their focus is on bold American brews. Think goses, barrel aged, hop bombs, etc - don’t come here for tame pilsners or ales. Taps are served in one size plastic cup with the price varying based on the beer (750¥ or 950¥). They had a BA coffee imperial stout from Almanac which at 950 is a really decent price. A good place with prices the same to drink in or take out for bottles and they include tax. Best prices in Nagoya for imports and a unique Bottle Shop/bar set up for Japan. Jamie the owner’s a great guy who loves to talk beer and helped me pass the time on a slow rainy Thursday. Kind of out of the way but if you’re jonesing for US brews definitely check it out. One to watch. |
70 /100 7 Days Brew (Bar) 4-4-21 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU Now has a truffle takoyaki stand, bar in the semi-basement area, restaurant upstairs and 11 taps: heartland, 2 j-craft and a whopping 8 imports from Nagano Trading. Prices are on the high side beerwise and the food is similarly upmarket but smells good. Check that, prices are tax included, there’s no table charge and the bowl of nuts was complimentary making the domestic craft brews good value (600 yen a small). Alright and as it is right by Nagoya Station worth popping in to either coming or going to Y Market. |

If you are in Nagoya and did not know where to go. HopBuds is the place that you need to visit. Tons of a very good craft beer. Friendly owner and a very cozy ambiance.
Selection of beer here is "SUPER" |
98 /100 HopBuds (Beer Store) 17-26 FUJIMI-CHO, NAKA-KU Fantastic selection of notable beers that you would have a hard time finding in any one location, let alone Japan. Great atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable owners. Amazed that this place exists in my area. Looking forward to many future visits. |
76 /100 4-17-6 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU Modern interieur but very cozy. Full with people at 7 pm on a Wednesday. Still found a place and the staff seemed to be always available. Nothing negative to say here, except the rather tiny selection of 8 different Y Market beers. Would still like to visit more than once! |
94 /100 HopBuds (Beer Store) 17-26 FUJIMI-CHO, NAKA-KU Hopbuds has an excellent selection of the best American Craft Beers, plus a few Japanese beers. Probably the best selection of American bottled craft beer in Nagoya. Lots of nice IPA and Stout beers on offer. Plus 2 beers on tap. Jamie the owner is friendly and happy to offer advice and recommendations. Hopefully he will open a branch close to Nagoya Station soon.
Current location is near Kamimaezu. |
94 /100 HopBuds (Beer Store) 17-26 FUJIMI-CHO, NAKA-KU Hopbuds is a great place for both American and Japanese people to go experience both American and Japanese craft beer. They always have at least two draft beers on tap that you can drink in the store and are priced at a very fair price. They also have a wide variety of bottled beers mostly from the West Coast of America, which is famously known for their craft beer. I would recommend Hopbuds to any American tourist or businessman or any Japanese citizen in search of a real beer compared to your standard Japanese beer. |

72 /100 7 Days Brew (Bar) 4-4-21 MEIEKI, NAKAMURA-KU Bar next to Nagoya Station. Good selection of American brews on tap (9 out of 11) and bottles: Stone, Bear Republic, Green Flash, ...
Expensive prices for beers (Bottles 900¥~1.200¥. Taps range from 890¥/small to 1.500¥/large) and food. |
44 /100 The Daiso Pare Marche Nakamura (Grocery Store) 1F, TSURUGICHO, NAKAMURA-KU, NAGOYA-SHI, AICHI-KEN, 453-0842 Supermarket with a small Japanese craft beer selection. |
98 /100 HopBuds (Beer Store) 17-26 FUJIMI-CHO, NAKA-KU By far the best craft beer bar/shop in Nagoya and the best I’ve visited in Japan.
Awesome and top-notch selection of American brews. They also have a small but high quality selection of Japanese beers.
2 taps and 9 fridges filled with bottles, bombers and cans of top American craft beer brands (Ballast Point, Lagunitas, Rogue, The Bruery, Stone, Coronado, Green Flash, New Belgium, Modern Times, Almanac, ...).
Extremely reasonable prices for Japan (even Europe), starting at 530¥/bottle and 550¥/tap.
Free complimentary snacks, relaxing ambiance and good American music. |
100 /100 HopBuds (Beer Store) 17-26 FUJIMI-CHO, NAKA-KU Best craft beer selection in Japan. Best prices in Nagoya. Hands down. |
