54 /100 Sarit Tap Room (Bar) SARIT CENTRE In the corner of the open air food court in the Sarit Centre. Today in between a Valentine's Day band and bunch of tech-geeks on a break from the conference next door, it was a little noisy... A handful of taps, and a fridge full of the same beer. Most of them also available in the Carrefour downstairs. Ok quality, nothing special and the venue itself is not special either. |
70 /100 The Crafty Chameleon (Bar) 159 JAMES GICHURU A short drive from Nairobi city centre, this is a relaxed patio/garden style restaurant and brewery. Parking can be tricky and you might consider making a reservation. Relaxed atmosphere, great for families too. Six different beers of their own on my visit, tasters available. Very affordable, varying quality. Food is really good. Recommended. |
8 /100 YAYA SHOPPING CENTRE This place was a big disappointment. It is a two store place inside the shopping mall. It is more place to get something to eat. They had 6 taps. All the taps was EMPTY. They had 3 bottles 1 from Kenya, and 2 from South Africa. Those 3 beers was all they had. The bartender was talking about all own beer, but was pretty quiet after I made him aware that 2 of 3 beers in his small selection was from SA and not local. This is a waste of time to visit and should not even be ratable in Ratebeer as a beer destination. Visited 05.12.2023. |
66 /100 The Talisman (Restaurant) 320 NGONG ROAD Nice Cozy restaurant with great food. They had about 12 bottles on the menu, many of them from microbreweries. The Service was excellent, beer was great with the food. This place is a must to visit for nice food and beer in Nairobi. Visited 28.11.2023. |
64 /100 671 NGONG ROAD Cozy nice brewpub. Found 12 taps and a handfull of bottles. The brewing is no longer taking place in the brewpub but in the brewery furhter down the street. The brewery that was in the brewpub is placed behind glass wals by the bar. Nice beers and nice service. This is worth a drop in. Visited 28.11.2023. |
66 /100 671 NGONG ROAD nice enough bar if a bit sterile, about the best place we found for beers in Nairobi, typically we missed a beer festival there by a couple of weeks. Good food, friendly staff |
64 /100 MPAKA RD Visited on 7/18/19. Very large rooftop bar and lounge with 270 degrees view of the city, on top of a business building. A small upper terrace inside. Five Big Five beer available on tap. Great food menu; wifi and flights also available. I understand it’s quite lively with live music at night, too |
64 /100 Kiza Restaurant and Lounge (Restaurant) GALANA PLAZA 8TH-9TH FL, GALANA ROAD, KILIMANI Great restaurant for African cuisine, and large lounge for live music and drinks. They serve Big Five beers on tap, and a few macros as bottles. Two Big Five beers are served as Kiza Blonde and Kiza Dark, but they are just rebranded. |
64 /100 CITY HALL WAY Poolside bar at Intercontinental Hotel at Nairobi. 4-5 local craft beer on tap, plus a few bottles. Large food menu available. Nothing too exciting, but it's nice to taste some Kenyan microbrews at the place you're staying. |
64 /100 YAYA SHOPPING CENTRE Two story place inside multi-story shopping mall, which has changed its name to Sierra Wine Bar/Grill. They have their 4 staple beers and 3 seasonals on the menu, but none of the seasonals were available when I visited. High end food menu, very tasty burgers. There seemed to be more wine bottles than beer. |
70 /100 The Talisman (Restaurant) 320 NGONG ROAD Sprawling large former farm house at Karen, Nairobi with probably the best food in the city, if not Kenya. It's about 20 km from the city center, but totally worth the trip for the food. They have around 12 bottles of beer in their menu, but half of them are Kenyan microbrews. Absolutely a must if you enjoy good food. |
50 /100 Osteria Gigiri (Restaurant) LIMURU ROAD, VILLAGE MARKET, 1ST FLOOR They had no microbrews, only 3 Tusker variations when I visited, but the food was great. I'd recommend the osso buco to anyone. The atmosphere was nice. You can eat there and go 2 floors down to Village Cellar to buy some Bateleur and Sierra bottles, too. |
56 /100 Village Cellar @ Village Market (Beer Store) VILLAGE MARKET, GIGIRI Small wine-beer and liquor store in the Village Market. They had 6-7 Bateleur bottles, one Sierra bottle a few Namibia and Tanzania beers, and most Kenya macros when I visited. Reasonable prices, too. |
72 /100 YAYA SHOPPING CENTRE Their beer is quite good. I sat downstairs, where the atmosphere is a bit less stale, and found the burger I had to be delicious. |
76 /100 671 NGONG ROAD Atmosphere isn’t very good (the interior is somewhat cheesy and the outside is a bit creepy), but at least you can smoke on the patio and watch one of the four or five televisions that are always playing football. The beers that they brew are really rather good, and the food is great (especially the wings). |
80 /100 YAYA SHOPPING CENTRE I lived next door to the Yaya for 6 months while in KE for work. Sierra brews its own beers and often has a decent array of styles in stock. The decor is modern and comfortable and the food is very good if not a little on the pricey side. They have dry aged steaks, creative apps - some using beer int he recipe, and incredible desserts - maybe the best in Nairobi. Stop by on the lower level on the roof deck for beers and cigars on Friday afternoon. You will never want to leave East Africa. |
44 /100 Chandarana Supermarket YaYa Center (Grocery Store) YAYA SHOPPING CENTRE This is just a grocery store just off Ngong Road in Nairobi. It would be easy to get to by car or Matatu if needed. The selection was all of the major Kenyan and South African macros, plus some of the Sierra stuff. Good prices. Food is grocery store fare. Pretty standard. Now that Nakumatt is making it’s way into the Nairobi martket you could probably go to any Nakumatt and get the same selection. |
60 /100 Osteria Gigiri (Restaurant) LIMURU ROAD, VILLAGE MARKET, 1ST FLOOR Cozy Italian restaurant inside Village Market. Food is well above average, atmosphere is very nice. They carry the majority of the Sierra microbrews, plus a handful of others. Small bar inside if for some bizarre reason you don’t want to try the food. |
84 /100 671 NGONG ROAD Known to the locals as the Brewpub. Another jewel in Kenya. This brewpub could be in any western country and would be a huge hit.. Service is top class. It is modern and has the highest quality food, bathrooms and beers that you can find in Kenya. Outstanding!!! |
46 /100 Chandarana Supermarket YaYa Center (Grocery Store) YAYA SHOPPING CENTRE Well not really a great place but finding all of Kenya’s beers in one place is not easy. They are all here and some for other East and South African counties. A couple of International Macros as well. |
70 /100 YAYA SHOPPING CENTRE Wow what a pleasure for East Africa. A very nice brewpub in Kenya as a matter of fact and only one of two at this point. It is in the mall and split between two levels. The lower level is a bar and a resturant and patio on the third. Beers are all on tap and very nice. Food is international and tasty. Service is spot on. |
