“Right next to House of Funk, so worth checking out. It's a unique concept brewery, in that they do only braggots, i.e., mixes of meads with beers. They only had 4 beers on tap, all in the 5-6% range and, honestly, pretty well-done. I liked 3 out of 4 of them. Friendly service -- the Italian guy running the place was friendly and fairly knowledgeable. $2.50 per 4 oz, which is a good deal. Unique experience here. I hope they go places with this concept.“

“They finally have a taproom, and it's a nice, intimate one located amidst the high density of breweries along Esplanade. Just a few tables inside, with some more on their patio. They had 10 taps, with 8 of their own ciders, 1 "apple tonic", and 1 guest beer. 4 oz or 8 oz pours of all beers, with 4 oz pours running $4-4.50 plus tax, rather expensive given the ciders. The cider quality is, I guess, above average for BC, but still relatively uninteresting. When I visited, 3 of the ciders were rosés, which were decent. Very friendly service and a nice place to chill. Worth a hit when hitting N Van breweries to break up the barley and hops.“

“Mexican themed place in the brewery street near the sea bus in North Van. Service was friendly and flights were available. Beer was pretty underwhelming but the food was really great - had an awesome salmon ceviche tostada. Save this spot on your North Van brewpub crawl for when you're hungry.“

“Small place down a long staircase into a back alley that opens to a pretty big patio. Interesting mix of styles and beer was decent. Service friendly enough. Flights available. Pretty close to the sea bus terminal. Patio is pretty nice looking despite being in an alley.“

“Friendly service and a kind of trendy vibe here. This place was fairly buzzing compared to House of Funk and Beere when I was in. Lots of yuppy types, but that may have just been the time. Beer was mostly OK, with a couple of interesting ones. Flights available. Nice small patio outside.“

“Small brewery just down the street from House of Funk. Unfortunately I tried the latter first, and it far outshined these guys. Then again, I'm not a huge hazy fan and Beere seems to hit that trendy niche pretty hard. For me they didn't pull off the style very well either. But their other beers were mostly decent. Friendly service, and still probably among the better of the North Van brew pub crawl. Seems like the further from the seabus you get, the better the beer quality of brewpubs gets. Not a huge selection of styles.“

“This place seriously rocks. Probably the best brewery in the whole Vancouver area, well at least that I've been to in North Van or downtown/east side. Very cool decor with funky tables and furniture and great service. The beer is positively wonderful. These guys really do a good job on sours in a way that you usually only find in Quebec. Some solid entries here, and with a few more ratings these guys should be cracking the province's top 50 with a few of their entries. Also loved the music in here, lots of the promised funk and some good rap. Highly recommend this place -- it sits at the end of the North Van brew pub crawl, but it's not that hard to get to as it still just sits about a 10 minute walk from the sea boat terminal.“

“Best place of this trip. Funky place with lovely funky beers, sours and other exciting offerings, samples are 3$ each, like Montréal and Ottawa prices. Nice coffee shop. Very good service. A must....“

“Convenient to the Spirit Trail bike road, this is a rather mainstream brewery with uninspiring beers, nothing problematic, but stuck in the 90s. Menu of sandwiches and burgers. Good service. Only for ticks.“

“Found this on my way to House of Funk and I lm glad I stopped by. Big brewery with wooden theme, large patio, good selection of style. Flight was 4 x4 for 10$. Pretty well made if not too original. Probably improved since last few years. Food menu is pizza, sandwiches and snacks.“

“Very nice interior with good tile work, nice booths. I sat inside however their patio, a necessity these days, looked very uninviting on a busy street out in the blazing sun. Food was nice with good tacos, slightly spicy. Beer was rather mediocre, nothing a major standout. Prices about average in the area. I wouldn't go here first, there are so many options around here, but might make sense as a part of a beer crawl when in the area.“

“A modest liquor store in central eastern North Vancouver. A little deceiving though, because this place easily has one of the best cider selections in the metro area. Also a very solid selection of single craft beer cans, plenty of oddities and obscurities from the city environs and beyond. Service was quick, prices were reasonable. Definitely worth a stop when in the area.“

“With some other liquor stores shutting down, this has now become one of the best places to grab single cans in Vancouver. Great selection, gets some rarer stuff from time to time.“

“Recently opened, right on Esplanade, a few minutes walking distance from The Quay, and from many other breweries. Very nicely designed, homey interior. Mexican-themed brewery, serving tacos and other Mexican bites. So far, just four beers on tap with a limited liquor license, so flights are all they serve (works for me). I got a flight of four ($9.20 after tax), and was underwhelmed by all of them -- totally uninspired beers, lacking depth and creativity, but at least not infected. Very friendly and helpful service. Hopefully they improve as they get going, but given the connection to Maple Meadows I'm not counting on it. Will check back in a few months or a year and see how they're doing.“

“Just a block or two from Beere and House of Funk, so quite well-situated for a brewery walking / biking tour. Beautiful spot in a quiet residential neighbourhood. Sleek wooden interior and a few spots on the patio for when the weather's nice. About 10 beers on tap including a guest cider, with flights of 4 available for about $10 (after tax). They just opened and are still ironing out their recipes, so the beers still have flaws (a couple had diacetyl issues) -- let's hope they learn and improve. I enjoyed their stout and berry sour the most. Friendly service. Worth a hit.“

“New Bridge Brewing location in Central Lonsdale. Cute little spot at the south end of the hubbub. Room for maybe 30-40 (though half during these COVID-19 times). They had nine beers on tap when I visited. Flights of 4 available for about $8 (after tax), so very reasonably priced. Friendly service. Not a big fan of Bridge's beers in general, but it's a solid spot if you're in Central Lonsdale, as there's not much else.“

“The entrance is in the line between Esplanade and W 1st St, with a sandwich board on 1st Ave telling you walk between a couple buildings to get there. Tiny place, with limited patio seating. Flights of 4 available, with 7-8 on tap when I visited (second day after the COVID-19 lockdown was lifted). Beer was mediocre, with the Vanilla Coffee Porter being the clear standout. Friendly service. Certainly not one of the top breweries in North Van, but it's close to North Point, House of Funk and Beere, and so might be worth checking out.“

“Well, they opened a brewery without bike parking, and then actually put up a sign telling cyclists to fuck off. That's just trash service. This leaves one without anywhere safe and close to park one's bike. At a brewery. In 2019. And the beer wasn't worth that nuisance.“

“Medium-sized place with big garage doors for brightness and fresh air. I rode my bike up here a lot in the warmer months. Ever changing beer list, including several different series beers. Can be difficult to keep track of them, if you're a ticker, but they are usually a lot of fun. A few feet from Beere, so it's a good two-fer, easily walkable from downtown Vancouver via the Seabus.“

“One of the better stores in town for selection, and with prices lower than those of the main stores in the heart of Vancouver. So it has an appeal in that respect. Less so for being what to me is rather out of the way.“

“Small tasting room and brewery not far from the Seabus. Consistently high quality beer makes it one of the area's standouts. Service is usually good enough and despite it's size I almost always find a place to sit.“

“Popped in to check out the new place. Bright and open space, around the corner from Beere. The first lineup of beers has a lot of pale ale/IPA focus, but there were execution issues on pretty much everything...nothing too egregious but definitely a work in progress. Service was fine. Given the proximity to a couple of breweries I visit regularly, I'm sure I'll stop by again in the future.“

“A big and busy tasting room between Streetcar and Beere, bright and airy, a little noisy with the high ceilings but no one seemed to care. Beers are pretty good, service was quick and a few very modest food options available. Some parking out front. You probably wouldn't hit this place first as it's in the middle of what's become a brewery crawl but it's certainly a necessary and welcome stop on such a journey.“

“A brand new spot set up in the alley behind east 1st street. Tasting room tables are modest and it's set up well enough for this kind of brewer's experience. Beers are available in flights only though that may change, and some are all right. Given it's such an easy walk from the quay and on the way to the other brewers in the area it's not a bad stop.“

“For the tiny space they have, the tasting room is nicely decorated. A mere 28 seats. Very small brewhouse, in plain sight as you walk to the washroom. Can enter from the alley between esplanade and 1st too. Upon opening the quality of the beer was very modest.“

“Right on Main St, close to the Second Narrows, this is a logical first or last stop on the Shore. The place itself is spacious, inviting and well-designed. They had almost a dozen beers on tap when I went, but sadly, none were very good and some were downright poor. Custom flights of 4 for $8 (incl. tax). Quick, friendly service. They need some real improvement on the beer quality.“

“Located steps from Beere, this is a very... funky place. Loud nightclub-like music blaring, it was packed on a Saturday afternoon. 12 beers on tap and only 4 oz pours available (due to their liquor license), which works for me. Inventive assortment of beers, largely sour / wild stuff. None of the beers impressed me all that much, but they are creative and ambitious, and I appreciate that. Prices are OK, ranging from $2.25-$4 for a taster. Quick service, even with a lineup. Worth a stop when on the North Shore.“

“This place has it all for the middle aged. The 45 year old woman playing darts with the 50 year old marketing manager, in her tight athletic attire trying to reignite her long lost youth; the two old guys from London waxing poetic about their great deals from 1988 they made in shoreditch and how they certainly could achieve those same great victories today. The two middle aged divorcées meeting each other for the first time off Tinder, hiding the fat in all the wrong places that's accumulated, hoping the other doesn't notice. Tired waitresses who can't remember or care what a beer geek ordered. The Blue Jays losing badly to the Yankees on the multitude of televisions. Dudebros hanging around near the pool table trying to convince one another to place a bet. Naughahyde chairs, average food, a crisis in waiting for every poor soul who just needs a drink while they ask themselves how they arrived to where they are. Keno blares from one of the flat screens. So, you order another house IPA while pretending you're better than the rest of these people. It hits you later, at home, in a cold sweat in the middle of the night - you aren't.“

“A large brewpub that is open and airy. Parking, on a major route, good hours and food make this a nice stop. Service was just ok, food was decent and they do flights. Beer is just OK, but for the area is decent enough to warrant a stop.“

“A hard place not to like. Open, airy, close to another brewery and open so early you can start ticking before noon. Decent staff, although if the brewer isn't around not much beer talk. They have a coffee roaster onsite, so if your party has a coffee habit as well this is a dangerous place. Not many beers on tap, as they sell out quick, but many new variations so always some ticks.“

“This is a cavernous brewpub that's just opened in the eastern end of North Van, actually within a few minutes walk of Bridge just up the road. “Set a few feet from Beere this place has the better view from the North Shore of downtown. Service is pretty good and indeed the touches to the place can be called Funky. “A small tasting room attached to their brewery along an industrial street. Sports on the teevee and flights of four available. Prices were good, most beers were very nice. Seemed a popular neighbourhood spot. Would go back, though it's a bit out of the way if you don't live in the area.“

“Set in an industrial area their tasting room is a chunk of their brewing space with wooden picnic tables, all rather old school. Service was efficient enough but I found the beers to be lacking. “Visited in the afternoon for their one year anniversary party. The place was completely packed and they were handing out free hamburgers! Beers were pretty good, flights were a decent price and service was quick. They have an odd liquor licence thing that restricts them from selling glasses of 12 ounces, hopefully they fix that soon. This is a necessary stop if you're in the area, and the patio is great on a warm day.“

“Small and cozy store in a strip mall; for the location, the selection is more than decent, actually they have a few odd ones that you won't easily see around. It's a bit off the way, which makes it interesting for somebody living nearby, and not as interesting to specifically travel there. But I got a good feeling out of this shop.“

“Visited August 2016. Modern liquor store, plenty of light; the craft beer selection is really minimal; surprisingly I found one beer I never had before, but I can't see myself going back here, anyway they get enough traffic being on the major road; I can think of at least 5 shops on the North Shore that have more interesting craft beer selection.“

“Visited first in March 2014, and last sometimes in 2016; if I didn't visit them since, there must be a reason… They started humble and with easy beers, but they never seemed to be able to leap forward, and progressively the craft beer people in Vancouver lost interest in Black Kettle; I wonder where they even sell beers, because I haven't seen them on tap or on shelf in a long time. Bottom 2 of the 6 breweries on the north shore.“

“Visited first on August 2016. Modern liquor store with plenty of light. I didn't require any help, but the two attendants I met were welcoming and pleasant. The first time I visited the store they just opened; and as promised the craft beer selection has improved a lot, as such this is now a reasonable choice for your beer purchase on the North Shore (although less then The Gull and Spirit of Mt Seymour).“

“First visited in 2016, as I moved closer this place quickly became my go-to place for beer.
Modern and large store in a strip mall, bright. Initially they had a "surprisingly good selection for the North Shore", today they compete for best store in Vancouver. You can get some beers not available elsewhere, you can conveniently shop online to secure the beers and pickup later, and according to a study of Winter '16/'17 they have the best prices in Vancouver. Ratebeer tags on the shelves; Chris cares a lot for his beers, but shout out to Riley too for the extra mile.“

“Small tasting room just outside the hubbub of the Lonsdale Quay area (about a 10 minute walk from the Quay). They've had between 4 and 6 beers on tap each time I've visited so far. All beers available for $2 per 4 oz. taster, which is much appreciated. Beer quality is definitely above average, especially for a young brewery - I've especially enjoyed their hop-forward beers and their coffee stout. Friendly service and willing to chat beer. Probably the best brewery on the North Shore at this point. Must visit when on this side of the water.“
