Eten is eveneens mogelijk tegen zeer schappelijke prijzen.“

“Although they are advertised as the brewery, they are actually not. Their house beer is brewed by St. Georgen Brau. However it’s sold only here - it’s quite good actually - can be a good point to pay a visit, but once again they are not brewing currently. Was visiting in summer 2013... I am afraid that things might have changed(((“

“Situé tout près de Mager Brauerei avec un cran de luminosité de plus. Cuisine très typique avec une excellente Dunkel pour rincer le tout.“

“Un endroit sobre au parfum traditionnel dans la magnifique et intemporelle Pottenstein. Quatre bières disponible, tous décentes aux minimum. Il est 10h30 et le brasseur nous verse ses concoctions à quelques pieds de nous dans l’indifférence la plus totale...Est-ce que j’y retournerais? Absolument!“

“Had an quite drinkable Urhell and a good meal on the patio of this rather old fashioned brewery. Cheap, good food and friendly service. A must visit when in town.“

“A pub on the premises of the former Wagner brewery with a nearby Biergarten. When I visited both places in September 2013, most tables were empty. I asked the waitresses in both places where the beers came from, and their answers were, "from Weismain" (where Püls Bräu is situated). The second waitress added the beers were brewed "according to our recipes" (which is difficult to believe, given the low quality of those beers). It seems the Bruckmayer pub and Biergarten no longer obtain their beers from St. Georgen Bräu in Buttenheim. Which is a pity because the stuff they are selling now is unremarkable, to say the least. - Service is still friendly and the ambiance is nice but this doesn’t help if the beer is crap. They also offer guided tours of the brewery - which is humbug actually because the former Wagner brewery doesn’t brew any longer.“

“Visited July 2013. Sat out in the back in the pleasant garden which a view up the rocks. You can see the open stainless steel fermentors inside. Tried the Kellerweizen and the Bio-Dunkel and they were good if not outstanding.“

“Visited July 2013. Sat out back in the rather plain patio with no real view. The beer wasn’t up to much at all. Both the Helles and Dunkel were quite bland. Not a great first impression but I’d probably give them another try if only to re-visit the pretty village of Pottenstein.“

“Lovely biergarden. Cozy, cheap and great quality. 3 or 4 beers avaliable from Georgen from draught + the hard to get Hohlentrunk. Self service beer garden. Great!“

“Cozy and charming. Beers are average. You cant buy bottles to go unless you buy a sixer. Go if in Pottenstein.“

“4 or 5 bottled beers. Cozy with a fine beergarden. 1 of Pottensteins 2 breweries. Pretty average overall.“

“The Bruckmayers web site has information about Hotel Schwan, Gastehaus, Urbrau and Biergarten. We visited the Biergarten in Am Stadtgraben 1. The Höhlentrunk was our main target but also other beers from St. Georgen Bräu, Buttenheim. Minigolf and "freibad" nearby. (Visited June 29th 2011)“

“World class beer, decent pub. Fairly standard village brewpub setup, with a small courtyard out the back which is nice despite the absence of greenery or a view like Hufeisen. Friendly locals, tasty food in large serves even by Franconian standards. And of course the beer. The fantastic beer. On top of that, bottled Mager Dunkel is just as good as the stuff on tap, so it’s worth stocking up. There aren’t many Franconian breweries you can say the same thing of.

“This place has been packed every time I’ve been here - must be the locals’ favourite. As there were no other tables available in the main room the waitress urged us to sit at the stammtisch. We thought she might’ve been playing a sick joke on us but it turns out she wasn’t, even though the locals were stunned to see Australians at the stammtisch they were clearly too gutless to sit at. So yeah, awesome service. And awesome beer. Höhlentrunk is obviously great, but the other St G products are in great shape too. And they serve some other brand of landbier or some such which was alright too. The building is chock full of old brewing gear, which for once is actually genuinely interesting. They do seem to want you to think they are still a brewery though. Only ate a schinkenplatte or something but it was good.
Would also wholeheartedly recommend their biergarten down the street - tasty beers from a kiosk and you can watch the kids on the playground or the folks playing minigolf. An excellent way to pass an afternoon waiting for the proper bar to open.

“Nice place, but it’s hard not to consider it the third option in Pottenstein. Fairly typical village pub feel inside, the small courtyard has an awesome view of the rocks above the town and you can see the beer fermenting too. Ate there once, it was quite good. Beer quality has been variable. One visit the dunkel was very good, another seriously yeasty. Definitely avoid the bierbrand. Geez. I want to like this place more but the dunkel was bordering on undrinkable last visit. Minus a million points for discontinuing Dr Moo but still keeping a bottle at the bar to tease me.

“Lovely old building. Tap is traditional. The terrace out back is nice in the sun, but offers no view of the gorgeous hills. Beerwise, I preferred the helles to the dunkles.“

“Dark, spacious pub on the mainroad passing Pottenstein. The main reason to come here is the excellent Höhlentrunk, which is available only here, alöso in bottles. The is also a little bottle-shop on the right side of the building. Absolutely worth a stop.“

“Formerly Wagner Bräu, and owned by the same family. Still housed in the same big old brewery building but they no longer brew on premises. All the brewing equipment inside is gorgeous but not being used. The house beer Höhlentrunk is made by St. Georgen Bräu, Buttenheim. The interior is now a very nice, characterful beer museum and dark, spacious pub. There is also an inner sanctum bar area where all the locals congregate around the taps, which is unique for a Franconian bar. Bruckmeyer has a beer garden in another part of town, we assume they serve the same beers.“

“Pottenstein is a 2 brewpub village (this one and Hufeisen just down the road), so ideal for a lunchtime stop. Fairly standard, half-timbered Bavarian brewpub look. Pleasant place. Makes a wider range of beers than Hufeisen. Unfortunately, having spent longer than expected in Hufeisen because we got chatting to the proprietor, I only had time for the Dunkel here, which wasn’t up to much. Didn’t eat. Mager does bottle their beer so you should be able to pick up bottles here, or somewhere around the village, but we already had an excessive stock in the car so I didn’t bother.“

“Pleasant, fairly typical, Bavarian village brewpub with a pleasant shaded terrace. As the weather was scorching throughout most of our German trip, we spent a lot of time in busy gardens, rather than the deserted interiosr, of German pubs and this one was no exception. So I can’t really comment on the decor, architecture or atmosphere inside. They were obviously brewing when we were there as the place was redolent with the aroma of boiling wort. Three of their own beers available - the usual "Holy Trinity" of Pils/Helles, Dunkel and Weizen - and no evidence that they make any other seasonals. The Pils came in bottle - don’t know whether that is normal. Didn’t eat. Pottenstein makes a good stop, possible best done at lunchtime because there is another brewpub (Mager) just down the road.“
