“Wow, blown away by the Okere Falls Store, have driven past numerous times, but had heard they have an off license selection that is the best in the BOP. That sure seems to be true. Over 200 different NZ craft beers spread across 2 massive fridges. I found my favourite sour beer and a bunch of beers from the South Island that are hard to find in my area. A huge range of rare barrel aged beers that are hard to find too. A nice looking tap list, I think I counted 9 beers on tap. Good range and had some McLeods, which is my favourite NZ brewery! Food was exciting, had an amazing smoked brisket toastie that was out of this world! Highly reccomend, will be stopping here everytime I pass by to see what new additions are in the fridges. Better than all the bottle stores in Rotorua combined. Well done guys, I hope you see this review.“

“What a find, have driven past lots of times as parking on the main road can be a challenge. This time we stopped in. Wow. Blown away by the selection of takeaway beers in what feels like a cafe. At least 100 craft beers across 2 large fridges, easily the best I’ve seen in Rotorua. I found a barrel aged bottle I have been looking for for quite some time, consider myself excited!! There seemed to be a good representation of breweries from across the country. I was even more excited to see a tap list in this place . 8 different taps with a good selection. I got a flight tasting as I just couldn’t decide what beer to choose as I was driving. Food selection was pretty good and reasonably well priced, will have to come back for breakfast as that menu looked amazing. We will be back again for sure, our new favourite spot after mountain biking. So glad we finally stopped in. Absolute gem of a find in what we thought of Rotorua as a craft beer dead zone .“

“As hypothesised below, Liquorland is a franchise where each store curates their own selection. They therefore range from excellent beer selections to nothing of interest. This is a good one and I try to drop by whenever I'm in Rotorua. Lots of NZ brews from all the major players, and a few interesting things from smaller local breweries (I grabbed some Lakeman and Bootleg on my most recent visit).“

“A friendly beer (and coffee) focused place with an interesting selection of Croucher beers and a few other guests. Quiet on a sunny November afternoon, but busier when I passed by later.“

“I don’t know what the selection in a regular Liquorland looks like, but this is pretty good. I mean, in The Netherlands chain liquor stores are very hit or miss, but mostly miss. This one has all beers refrigerated, and a pretty nice selection of bottles and cans. Some locals, some brand new stuff, and a bunch of fancy (and very pricy) BA stuff. Some nice US bottles too. I didn’t really look at the selection of 6 or larger packs. Lots of NZ beer is only available in large formats, but here there was plenty of choice in single cans and some 500cl bottles too. Quite liked it, prices seemed reasonable for NZ to me (which means around $10 for a quality 500cl bottle or can, which is still quite dear). Would go again.“

“Been here a few times over the years. Beer selection is pretty good, with some more unusual Croucher beers and a few guest taps too. Ambience tends to be a bit rowdier than the average craft beer place. Food is very nice.“

“Ate here Monday July 4th. Quiet when I came in but it filled up later with small groups/families etc. Good selection of beers - I tried three of the Croucher on tap but they had others from other Craft Micro producers. Food was also good (nice thin base pizzas) - my only niggle was the first guy who served me didn’t mention the food specials which I only found out about on paying the bill. Worth a look if you are a Beer Head and happen to be in RotoVegas at the time. “

“2016-05-11. We popped in quickly for a night cap. It was pretty quiet on a Weds night. It’s a pretty standard high ceiling-ed British style pub. Lots of wood, mix of tables and booths. Rugby and surfing on the TVs. Tap list is just okay, we opted for beers from Monteith’s and Black Dog. Service was decent but nothing to comment on. As a pub it’s fine, but with Brew and Craft Beer Kitchen a few steps farther up the road I’d choose those first if beer is your priority. I don’t think they had any house beers on but perhaps I just didn’t notice.“

“2016-05-10. A little more polished than Brew just a few steps away, but not necessarily in an inviting way. Decent tap list with offerings from Good George, Moa, and Stoke on their website but I only really remember seeing GG on the wall, but perhaps I didn’t look hard enough. Decent selection of bottles as well. Decent option but I preferred the atmosphere and selection at Brew personally. “

“2016-05-10. Located in Eat Street, sort of large indoor/outdoor collection of bars and restaurants, it has a relatively traditional pub area inside and bunch of tables outside in the covered area. It’s sort of nice but also feels a bit like a mall food court. Tap list was pretty good with a decent selection of Croucher offerings, and other NZ craft beers. We were not super hungry so we opted to share some of their house bread and crumbed brie. Server was friendly but I think she thought we were a bit odd typing away at our beer notes :) Definitely the best craft beer option in Rotorua while we were here.“

“Located downtown among a bunch of restaurants in the covered pedestrian area Eat Street. Indoor and outdoor seating. It is local brewery Croucher’s taproom, but there were a few guest beers too. The ANZUS and Singletrack IPA’s and even the 2.5% Lowrider IPA were horribly diacetyly. Probably a temporary draft line issue, since I’ve had some of the same beers elsewhere and they’re fine. Not good but hopefully will be cleaned up, so I’m not rating them too harshly for it until I get back there for a 2nd visit. The Patriot black IPA was clean and tasty.“

“November 2013. Mainly Croucher beers on tap, very busy on our visit, but service from the staff was good. Food was good and reasonable for the money.“

“November 2013. Large UK styled pub, nothing special on tap, service was slow as place was not really busy. Food was typical for a pub and not to expensive.“

“Taps split almost evenly between Croucher and guests on my visit at modest prices (for NZ) particularly for the former. Spacious both inside and out. Friendly, courteous bar staff and relaxed atmosphere within the city’s dining area aptly named ’Eat Street’. Small bottle selection. Food looked good and well priced; I didn’t sample though others assured of its quality.“

“A relatively new place, not associated with the Aussie chain of the same name, I give them a huge thumbs up for providing the best craft beer selection in town. In addition the guy helping me out knew his beers and had tried most in the cabinet. All the major craft beers like 8 wired, epic, yeastie boys, croucher, liberty plus a bunch of good selections from abroad. Prices pretty much normal for Kiwi craft beer. By the way the fish and chip shop run by the Maori next door has some great prices.“

“Enjoyed 2 tasting trays with plenty of IPAs. Also had a Patriot in bottle as it was not on tap. Open mic night was entertaining. Best place for beer in Rotorua, no doubt.“

“This is the brewery tap for Croucher, and it doubles as a coffee roastery during the day. It’s in a small pedestrianized area, but there is parking in the nearby streets. They had six Crouchers beers on when I visited, as well as two guests from brand new local breweries. A guy was playing Johnny Cash tunes on a guitar and a kazoo while his wife played some sort of electric box thing, very entertaining. The food was tasty pub fare. Beer samplers are available, four for $18, or $20 with nibbles. Well worth a stop.“

“Enjoyed the full Croucher range here and got a bottle of the PAtriot BIPa to take away (carry-out disacount!) Met with the brewer who happened to be in for a post-work pint and friendly staff too. Food menu and coffee both looked good but alas had already eaten. Two seasonals on from mata at the time. plenty of pavement space for outside dining in warmer months“

“Pleasant and cozy beer bar that showcases the Croucher range, including seasonals. Guest beer from Mata on my visit. Food options are decent, tasty and of good value. For the area it’s hands down the pick of the limited beer venues. Enjoyed thoroughly.“

“Home of Croucher but with some other beers on tap and in bottle. Not a very big or exclusive selection, but it is a nice cosey place with a friendly staff. Food is just okay. Don’t expect haute cuisine, but decent fish & chips.“

“This was a disappointment. The only beer that was their own was the "swine lager", which didn’t seem interesting (from the description), and all the others came from macros. Nice food, but not a place for great beer. I had a Speight’s Distinction Ale, which wasn’t bad. Food took long to arrive.“

“A large busy pub with only mega swill available on tap, which is expected around these parts. Staff look extremely bored which I would be too if I had to work there. Have a Mac’s Black then leave.“

“A bit of a standard big pub layout, and worst of all, the stardard mainstream NZ beer fare. I assume people go there for the TVs....“

“Barely worth having this place on the database now IMO. On the day of our visit, aside from the usual NZ macros they had just one crappy house lager (Swine) on tap. The building is the best thing about the place. It’s a former police station (hence the name) and has a bit of 1940s character, with some nice old prints on the walls inside. The staff were friendly - they always are in NZ - but the pub grub was drearily predictable and very greasy. Probably the worst meal we had in NZ. The Swine Lager was pretty dire, so we didn’t hang around. Deserted the day we visited.“

“Pretty standard pubbish atmosphere. Was pretty busy the night I was there, very load with a mix of lively conversation and way too loud TVs. There are two house beers that used to be brewed on-site but brewing has since contracted out to Mates Brewing. The two beers are pretty typical with the porter being the better one by far. They also have taps of NZ macros. Food is good, typical pub grub. Fireplaces add a nice touch, but the TVs have to go.“
