“Visited on July 22, 2023, in the afternoon. Located east of downtown, near Highway 1, in front of a Sobey's. Suburb like store, nothing flashy. The beer, cider and ready to drink section looks like a wearhouse. OK selection, but that much in the local variety.“

“Visited on july 22, 2023, in late evening. Located on Water St in Uptown St. John, in front of Peters Wharf and next to Gahan House Port City, it's a semi hole in the wall. The most eclectic of beer place I've been in this trip in southern New Brunswick, especially in St. John where there is this english feel to it. A lot of green in the decor. The brewpub is kind of divided in two, the frond is the bar section, the back is where they have live acts. The beer tap selection has more than one brewery, including Long Bay and a few NB beers. I had their NEIPA, which was nice and I'm not a big fan of this style. Good service. A nice addition to the Uptown beer scene!“

“Visited on July 22, 2023, in the evening. Located in the northern part of Uptown st. John, in the former First City Brewpub that closed in the Fall of 2021 (which Trailway Brewing Co. would reopened it the next year), just a block away from the Saint John City Market. This place, where you'll find Trailway beers on tap and to go, is named for the street where they are located. A well lit pub, white walls with some decoration, no bar in this small place, mostly tables and stools at the window (and a small patio on the side street). Medium size tap list of their own beers, some are quite interesting, I had their triple which was good. Their other speciality are smash burgers, basically it's a meat patty that has been flattened to cardboard fine, and it was good. I went there because I was parked almost in front of the place!“

“Visited on July 22, 2023, in the afternoon. One of two home away from home Picaroons establishment, the other being in St. Stephen. Located on the corner of Canterbury and Grannan St in Uptown St. John, it's a medium size bar, with a "S" shape table, several high chairs at the windows, a street patio during the summer and an acces to Pomodori Pizzeria from the inside (no alcohol in that restaurant. Over 20 beers on tap, a good variety of styles. They even have beer for dogs (and for cats) that is non alcoholic. For food, you can get some pizza next door. A lot of merchandise for sale, even for dogs. Several beers to go, including growlers and beers from other breweries. The staff if very good in many ways. As you can guess it's a dog friendly place and sometimes there is even a Maine Coon cat (that I was hoping to see). Nice place all around!“

“Visited on July 21, 2023, in the evening. Located north of Route 100 and Route 1, at the northern end of a strip mall, with a Shopper Drug Mart, at the south end, and a Pizza Delight next to it. A medium size pub, mostly large tables, minimum decor and a simple looking bar. There is no beer menu anywhere, so you have to ask and somehow beer knowledge is not there fortay. They do have taps and cans. Food menu is mostly big portions pub fair, what I had (fried chicken with fries) was ok. The waitress was at less nice. However, it was a friday night and it closed at 9 PM, maybe this is far from a hot spot like Uptown on the other side of the two routes. That night I wanted to avoid Uptown St John, I should have had take out at the hotel!“

“A lively and colourful venue with 20 taps serving a mix of their own (six taps), guests (including six of sister brewery Long Bay) and a cider. Check the list behind the bar for what is pouring. Non-beer (cocktails) are available. Prices are standard for the area. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. Definitely not a wasted day spent here.“

“Located in Uptown, Saint John, NB entry is from the street into a basement-like venue with dimmed lighting giving it a rustic feel. The brewing vessels are at the rear of the bar area. The bar area is small and consists of three booths, a couple of bar tables and two bars with seating. There are only six taps, all pouring their own range of brews. Galss sizes are 12oz ($6.25) and 20oz ($8.05) and self-choice flights of four or six ($11) are available, as is merchandise. There is also a dining room area off to one side which is more open and better lit and seats about 50 at tables and a couple of tall bar tables. Food is pub-style fare, standard for the area. Service was OK.“

“Visited on July 20, 2023, in the evening. Located in Uptown St. John, on a uphill street, the exit door can be use for people with mobility issues. It has a semi dive like decor, the brewpub is divided in two section, the entrance leads to the bar/brewery section and there is a passage way to the dining room/bathroom area (and exit only door). Small tap list and even smaller cans to go selection, although there are growlers. I had an English Strong ale that was nice and i try their NEIPA that wasn't super hazy and very good. I had the fish and chips, but there was no one piece option, so I hardly ate the fries. Not bad, but there would be better in the Uptown!“

“Good place with a nice view to the harbor. They did flights of four and had about 6-8 of their own beers on tap and 10-12 other local beers on tap.“

“Great bar associated with Trailway Brewing. They will pick up brewing Trailway locally soon, but for now everything is brewed in Fredericton. No flights available. They have a good fridge with many of their cans. Excellent service.“

“Great bottle shop in the centre of the city with a really good range of NB beers in bottle & can all in a massive chiller. Think they even had a tap pouring area for growlers.“

“Best place in town I found that is brewing it's own craft ale on site. A good ambiance & friendly service. A choice of 7 or so different beers on tap. The saison I had was outstanding.“

“Magasin d’État similaire aux autres. Sélection intéressante mais limitée, au moins on y trouve facilement du Trailway. Service sympathique et prix intéressant.“

“Unassuming small brewpub, inviting atmosphere, casual, clean, and friendly. Experienced this on a Friday afternoon, not busy but steady.Three beers on tap due to recent city events and tourism consuming inventory. Anniversary Amber Ale was outstanding. Nice malt balance, not hoppy, caramel and slight pine. Tempered with a strong ABV that really gave it a nice rounded flavor. Chatted with regulars coming in for growler fills and all praised ongoing quality. Brought back a growler of Amber and enjoyed a week later. Outstanding.“

“Pub-style restaurant with 9 beers on tap, also some bottles. Waitress knew nearly nothing of the beer, chalkboard menu didn’t list brewers or styles. Food order was okay, fish and chips was quite good. But all of the little things that we asked for (no dipping sauce for the kids, gravy on the chips, a copy of our receipt) were ignored. Not a great place, but an okay place to stop if you don’t want to eat in a hotel.“

“Busy brewpub located near my cruise ship and in downtown St. John. Five taps of their beers and a limited bottle selection. Decent beers brewed here. No complaints on service or price.“

“Ok stop in. WIFI available. Decent selection. Nice cozy downstairs bar area excellent for drinkiing beer on a cold rainy day. If you have only one stop in the area there are several brewpubs nearby. If you want to sit down and relax with a beer this is a good place for that. People beside me ordered chowder. They said it was great. It was a huge portion that neither of them could finish.“

“Visited Aug-2011. Great location! Ate some bruschetta, which was pretty decent. Place has a huge sunny ceiling and fun laminated cartoons on all the tables. Beers were in good shape, tried a couple that were fine but not going to knock any socks off. Staff was friendly (if a little slow at the end getting our bill). Would recommend if already in the area.“

“Nice atmosphere of wood and brick combo (medium lighting) with seating at the bar, tables or the patio. They have a decent selection of beers on tap or in bottles (better selection than the taps) as well as wine and liquor. The food was Canadian pricey but good. “

“Nice place to stop in downtown St. John. Good little beer selection of their own stuff from light to dark ales. Decent food and good prices. Always received great service here too, would recommend to anyone and will be back when I’m in the area.“

“Drove 10 hours from NJ for 8 days in the Maritimes and Saint John was our first stop...so as a craftbeer lover...Big Tide was my first stop in Saint John. Although the craftbeer pickings in NB are slim...this establishment is actually not bad at all...and certainly a great find after our lengthy travels. I found the people very welcoming and helpful and the food (just had appetizers) quite good. Although none of the beers were stongly hoppy as I prefer...I was not expecting those styles to be common in the eastern provinces. Nonetheless, the beer was very decent and one of their ales quite close to my preferred style even if a bit mild. I would highly recommend this place for anyone traveling through Saint John or on their way to/from the Bay of Fundy sites.“

“This one was a solid little brewpub. Nothing special, but worth a stop in Saint John, especially if you are looking for craft beer as there are not really any destination places in town.“

“A local place, but I hardly ever go there. If you were coming from out of town this is a decent place to try some regional craft beers, no other place in town has more. However, as a local it is deeply disappointing as there is rarely anything available that cannot be bought for less at the provincial liquor store. The food here is good, but a bit overpriced and overworked for pub food. Fois gras poutine? Draft is $7 a pint, which is probably the highest price in town, but that’s what you pay for a trendy/touristy kind of place. I’ve found service is a little inconsistent, especially if it is busy.“

“Visited on a very very wet Thursday eve. Nice enough old style wooden panel type place, pretty quiet except for the rock classics on the stereo. Not my local area but good looking beer selection on tap and bottles, tasty food and the young lady serving was very helpful. Expensive (even coming from London) but that may be a Canada issue I suspect.“

“Nice little brew pub. has three or four of their beers on tap while I was there. Decent prices for the area...12 oz glass for $5 and 20 oz and 20oz for $7. Has a nice view of brewing area near the entrance and bar. Playful atmosphere..each table has an old cartoon on it. The beers are lightly filtered and easy drinking style but still worth the visit while in the area. “

“Funky little place in the heart of Saint John. Good food. Nice ambiance. Selection featured about 5 or 6 choices. We had the "wood", a selection of four brews. Included the bitter, IPa, hefe and ESB. I ended up with a 20 oz glass of the double IPA. Very good. Not sure how value compares to other places. Very good and decent overall.“

“2011-08-01. Came in for lunch and sat in a booth in the bar area. I quite like the posters laminated on the tables - ours was Scooby Doo- Atmosphere was pubby, a bit dark and sparse, and overly warm today. We later discovered that there is a second dining area, with a huge window open onto the street, and was much nicer. Food was decent. I quite enjoyed my fish burger, though it needed a bit more sauce (I thought 50 cents for a side of mayo was a bit cheeky, but didn’t bother to protest). Server was friendly but a bit slow when it came time to get our bills. House beers were hit and miss, but generally decent. I would come back if I was in town but probably wouldn’t go too far out of my way if I wasn’t already going to Saint John.“
