“Nice location, nice setting, great food, beer choices were correct. Overall, perfect evening after an emotional funeral with my sister.“

“A hockey game was about to start at the arena next door, so this place reminded me of trying to get into Bluejacket when the Nationals were playing. The crowd soon left, though, so I had the entire beergarden to myself. Inside was full, as people were jammed in to watch the game on a makeshift big screen. There's a small serving bar inside too. Service was great even when it was crowded, and my server was the first Quebecoise I met on this trip that spoke no English. The beers were pretty tasty. Food was snax, poutine and pizza, maybe best skipped. Tone of parking, and I even found a spot despite all the hockey fans. There's a small outdoor play area for the kids; I saw no dogs. Worthwhile stop.“

“Unassuming corner building next to an Indian restaurant, large group of sidewalk tables, one giant umbrella, fire cage on a closed street. Nice location at sunset. Inside is very characterful, lots of wood, low beamed ceiling, curvy bar, couple of different side rooms. 12 house beers and one guest (Peche Mortel) on offer, I didn't ask about flights but taster sizes are possible. Beers ranged from boring to pretty good. Food was tasty although portions were small. Friendly efficient service, a nice contrast from the Molson-Coors (and I assume ABInBev?) owned place where I lunched. Worth a visit if nearby but don't go out of your way like I did.“

“Visited Sept 2020 during COVID. The taproom is closed so just bottles for sale to go. Very cool design in newly renovated building , big shinny brewery visisble from outside. Selection of bottle was good at comepetive prices. A few other food items sold...but some Pied de Cochon Maple condensed milk...decadent. Service was attentive.“

“Went to Le Trou du Diable for their 10th anniversary. Of course the place was crowed but there was still enough room between tables to have some intimacy and to be able to go to the bathroom without asking people to move their chair. The selection of beer for this even was of course pretty good since they even had guess beers from other breweries and also some Cantillon bottles. Wish I could remember the name of our waitress but we really loved her. She was funny, knew how to do her job, knew the beers available and could help us decide what to eat. The food was really good. I had a deer roll as the entree and a steak as the main course. Both were really good and paired really great with my X. This is definitely a place that I will visit again in the future.“

“Went here 2 times. Last time was for their 10th anniversary. Thank god the service is not like that every day. They only had one cashier for the event so we waited 3 hours to get / pay for 4 X bottles. Anyway, last time it was better even though there was a little bit of waiting time. So this place is split into 2: the shop where they sell bottles and pre-filled growlers and some other promotional stuff (T-Shirts, caps, tuque, etc) and the other side which is a bar. The staff is friendly, the selection is usually good. Both time I went they have some special releases (Buteuse BS, Dulcis Succubus, L’Ours) , some growlers and the usual regular stuff. They have some snacks at the Salon Wabasso such as cheese curds and other stuff like that. They really need to have a new cashier machine or maybe have an Ipad like at Hill Farmstead. Overall this is a great place to go since prices are much cheaper there than at my specialized beer store“

“Visited a few times since it opened. Lots of merchandise, posters, pins, bottle openers, glassware, sunglasses, you name it. There’s also a whole mezzanine dedicated to clothes. Selection-wise, about half a dozen beers in growlers (32/64oz), most of which are usually only available on draught at the brewpub and select bars, a couple regular seasonal bottles as well and few "Brassin Spécial" beers. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. On the other side of the building is a live music venue with some beers on tap there as well. Apparently brewery tours are available between April and September. Obligatory stop from now on.“

“For me the best place in Canada. I n our last travel, we arrive there so late, but they served us and they help us to found a place to sleep. The beer is excellent. I love this place, this town and their people.“

“Visited a while ago for a beer release, but I have heard they made a few changes since so I will need to revisit sooner than later.

Ambiance: It was crowded because of the release. Fairly large to accomodate almost everyone for the release so I guess when it’s normal business day there’s plenty of space.

Service: Quick and rather friendly.

Selection: Lots of merch, 1 beer on tap, usually a few bottles to go and pre-filled growlers.

Food: n/a.

Value: Prices are as good as you can find for Le Trou du Diable products, which means they are still a bit high but you won’t find TDD products cheaper elsewhere.

Overall: It’s nice that they opened this place for growlers fills and easy access to some bottles, but for the full experience go to brewpub just a few minutes away where you have have some great foods and a lot more beers on tap.

“This is the production brewery location opened by the guys that started the brewpub just down the road. A bit like Dieu du Ciel’s model, this is where they have the serious brewing equipment and they produce their bottled beers. They have a store with lots of merch, fresh bottles and pre-filled growlers for prices equal to the lowest prices you’ll find on the region. They feature one beer on tap to sample while you browse. There is a small "pub"-like section attached, it’s a stage where local bands or improv groups and such perform on some evenings (check the facebook page, these are ticketed events). You can get beer there during these events, but no food. If you want the cozy brewpub and superb food experience, you have to go to the other place (the brewpub) but this is a great place to get some beer and merch to go.“

“Absolutely magical brewpub located in the middle of nowhere by the river in Shawinigan. Great atmosphere, great people, great brews and an even better food menu crafted daily with fresh products by their French chef. Would highly recommend their buffalo steak. For beers, you can enjoy their sampler sets to discover their various brewing styles, often a delicate mix of Belgian and Californian inspirations with a local twist. They also brew a few quality collaborations with some of the most renowned craft breweries. A must experience for beer fanatics which should be worth the epic trip.“

“Crowded, thighty packed and noisy on this Friday night. But after a couple pints of liquid deliciousness and a bison tartare, you easily forget the inconveniences. Good service despite the place being full. Food was fantastic, not cheap but you get what you paid for. 15 taps and 750ml special release bottles. Very reasonable prices. This place is hard to beat.“

“I was there on a Saturday night. Ambiance was ok, but there’s was lot of noise (I admit I prefer quiet brewpub). Service was good even if the place was crowded. Good selection of their beers on tap as well as 2 invitee. Price are decent. Nice brewpub and one of our best brewery in Quebec.“

“Well located next to the Saint Maurice river, nice spot! Servic is great and fast, the waitress knew about the products she was serving. Food is great and not to expansive. Ideal to discover the Trou du Diable’s beers. You can order a "plateau de dégustation" which allows you to taste small sample of all the beer available.“

“In town for memorial cup, what a gem. 12 beers on draft 10 in house 2 guest beers. Food and staff were fantastic, they had a lot of lighter session beers, wheats, blonds, a very good American style ipa, my favorite, a good dry stout. One guest tap was DDC imperial stout, nice. All in all a very good brew pub. Picked up a bottle of a saision in Trois-Rivieres what a beer.“

“A very beautiful brewpub with helpful personnel. Their beer is already known all the way across the province of Quebec, thus no need to comment on it (ok, just here: it’s amazing). What’s most interesting about the place is the quality of its food, which GREATLY surpasses that of any brewpub I had ever been to in my life. Great food, great beer, great ambiance. Too bad it’s so small and one has to reserve 3 months in advance. Also, too bad there isn’t also one in Quebec City, or in Montreal, or both!“

“After many, many, many, many, many, many, many years (but maybe not that much) of wait, I finally went to this establishment at the end of June, 2011 --- a date I will always remember --- untill I forget it --- !!!
Ambiance is top notch --- this place has the most beautiful decor I had the chance to see in any brewpub or beer places I got to visit during my (young for the moment) years of beer mania. It also gets jammed pretty quickly so come early. The food that we ordered was oustanding by brewpub standard (it is surely rivalizing with The Alchemist and Bobcat Café on this matter). I got a delicious hamburger (made out of tasty lamb), while my father got a incredible steak tartare de bison. Beer selection was pretty nice, ranging from good (La Blanche de Shawi, La Pitoune), to very good (L’Amère Indienne) to uber-good (Dubaï Pillée!!!). This last beer was so delectable that I couldn’t resist and ordered it 3 times in a row, enjoying it in front of the superb St-Maurice river.
For sure, this is a must-go and I will definitively return, when I’ll be out of here.“

“I went to Le trou du diable in the end of november of 2010. It was a Saturday evening, the place was packed, but they still managed to find a place for me and my girlfriend to have dinner and a degustation. I had a delicious ’’Tartare de Bison’’ and had the chance to sample every beer available. I had an indigestion after that, but its kind of my fault (crude meat is not for me...). The staff was friendly, the beer were excellent and the food was great. Do not miss that one!“

“Second visit to this pub, very nice ambiance, quite cozy. The staff is friendly and the bar offers a rotating variety of their beers, which have always been in fine shape according to me. They also have a nice rotating selection (about a dozen bottles) of fine scotch, but it is available at a premium price. The food is awesome, the chef prepares lots of meals with local products and fancy meats like bison, trout, duck etc. Kitchen is open Tuesday-Sunday from 5 PM to 11 PM. The place is getting to be well known around town, if you want a table in the evening, you better call to make a reservation first. Or just visit in the afternoon when it is quiet. They have some good snacks available if the kitchen is closed. Prices are definately within the reasonable range, very good value.“

“This place has it all. It looks very nice, the athmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The food is excellent, they buy a lot of quality local products and I was always amazed by the quality of the food there. Then, the beer, there’s always a selection of 8 to 10 beers, and the quality ranges from good to excellent. Le Trou du Diable is definitely my favorite place in Quebec to have a meal and a couple beers.“

“I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of the place as it is situated in a beautiful town in Quebec. I had a tour of what by next year will be their V.I.P. area which means that a great brewpub will become that much better. The beers were very interesting and pleasantly enjoyed. I enjoyed a beer pulled out of their cellar with Jean Chretian’s bodyguard, La Buetese Grand Reserve. Look out for the one as it was quite pleasant and is going to be their first offering from the bottle. Oh and a good relationship with Dieu du Ciel allows them to sometimes have thier beer as a geust beer. “
