“Visited 6/4/2019. Reminded me of visits to German brewhouses. This one was offering up three house beers and a decent food menu, and not much else. Large place, mainly geared up to diners. Taster platter available of 3 house beers for £3.80. Quality was ok, nothing special though. Attentive service. Glad to have visited at least once.“

“Visited 6/4/2019. This place opened November 2018. It’s easy to miss, as at the moment it’s not well advertised, but sits above Los Gatos restaurant which is the landmark to look out for. Hop Kettle have an interest in the place so their beers feature on around half the taps but there are a few guests too. 2 casks and 8 keg. Fridge is at the end of the bar. About 40 different bottles, with some quite obscure Hop Kettle brews and a varied selection of other brews from uk and further afield. Service was excellent. Relaxed vibe. A great addition to Swindon’s blossoming beer scene.“

“Visited 6/4/2019. Have now moved a few doors down and taken over the old Pig On The Hill pub but retained the Hop Inn name. Nice selection of local cask ales which is the main focus, supplemented by some keg and bottles. Busy on this Saturday afternoon visit. Nice friendly atmosphere, good service. Large sunny patio garden. Decent place.“

“Visited 6/4/2019. Opened November 2016 in a town that's showly developing a beer scene. Offer 12 cask/keg beers with some decent quality amongst them, plus fridges with 30 plus above average quality craft beers. Relaxed environment, friendly service. Must visit if in town.“

“Visited 6/4/2019. In the centre of the Old Town, has a good selection of local, national and international beers, some local ciders, plus if you're that way inclined over 200 different gins. Have 4 floor to ceiling shelf units of beers/ciders plus others dotted around in what's quite a large shop. Friendly service. Decent prices. Definitely worth a look if in Swindon.“

“Visited 03.01.19 on trip to 22 southern counties with OGJ and EE. Eight ales on cask, all serve without sparkler. A friendly local boozer in the middle of the railway village. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Only ten minutes from the railway station.“

“I have visited the Hop Inn a couple of times in recent months both in April and May I recall, when working locally. The Hop Inn is located on the Devizes road, Swindon Old Town, I have to say that I come to Swindon usually once a month and the layout of the place always perplexes me so I will not try to explain its location any further, suffice to say the Old Town is sort of on a hill/slight rise and is probably a mile or so from the rest of town (New Town?). This is a nice little one room place, mostly all glass fronted, a corner shaped bar on left as you enter, some seating in front and further seating off to the side

The focus appears to be more on Cask than Keg but there are options for the latter and there always seems to be a small but ever changing decent range of craft cans and bottles. I have never had a beer here as I pop by in my lunch hour, but have had a lemonade and have picked up cans and bottles from the likes of Siren and Northern Monk to take away with me.. The service is friendly and they appear to know their stuff, I think it is the male partner (one half of the the ownership) who I have spoken to on both occasions. It's a comfortable, clean, smart and tidy place which will appeal to a good cross section of folk.“

“Came here 8.11.2017. Nice red brick building and lay out, which is reminiscent of a church. 5 beers on tap. Had a pint of the Golden Ale which was absolutely ok. Food is a bit fancy. I had a crocodile dish which was actually quite good. Service was very junior and inexperienced.“

“Came here on 26.6.2017. Great English Pub with a strong focus on Craft beers. 5 hand pump beers and 6 others on tap (some Belgium beers). Liked the Arbor C-Bomb a lot, the White IPA is also quite good. Shame they did not serve food (only crisps) as I was starving. Do not recommend the Pub next door for food. Have not been in Swindon for a while, but believe this is one of the better places here.“

“Visited in October 2016. A Hop Back pub in the old railway village part of Swindon, that for many years was the best place to visit in the town. Still offers a range of the solid Hop Back and Downton beers, plus a guest or two. Service was friendly and efficient, and this pub is well worth visiting.“

“Good selection for Arkell beers. Decent bottle selection. 10 min walk from train/bus station. Lovely beer garden. Perfect when the sun is up. And 1 min walk from Swindon Town football ground. Absolutely the best place to get a beer before a match. The other pubs in the direction, from the train station to the football ground, was not very inviting. This place would be good anyway!“

“A really nice place. Modern looking restaurant with a fine patio. About 15 min walk from bus/railway station. Unfortunately not very good beers. And quite poor bottle selection. But you can get small tasting glasses. 6 different on handpull at my visit. So you do not have to drink that much. I advise you to stop at Glue Pot and stay there!“

“Visited on a Sunday evening in August 2015, about a 10 minute walk from the station this pub has been on the Swindon beer scene for ever! It’s a single roomed pub, large chalkboard with the beers noted, Hop Back and Downton plus an odd guest. Beer was well kept. Nice wooden features and friendly staff. Decent spot to drop in.“

“Visited on a Sunday afternoon in August 2015. It’s a lovely building split into 2. A restaurant occupies the Eastern half and the bar and seating the other. 6 beers on, tasting flights available with 3 thirds for £3.80 so decent value. Staff friendly. The food menu is a little pricey. Be prepared to part with £25 for dinner. I didn’t! It really is a cracking place to visit to tick the beers and glad I visited. Will arrive in a Securicor van if I want to buy food though.“

“Excellent old-fashioned one room pub. The small bar serves old and young fogeys alike, and the place is brimming with conversation. 8 ales: 6 were Hop Back on my visit. They also offer Downton and Longman as guests more often than not from the looks of things. 5 cask ciders as well, although nothing out of the ordinary. Bottles and polypins to take away at a very cheap price. This must be the best pub in Swindon, and it’s walkable from the railway station, so if you find yourself waiting for a connection, you know what to do.“

“Visited 27/10/2011. More brewery/restaurant than brew/pub situated in the old GWR weighbridge building alongside the main railway line in Swindon - about a 20 minute walk from the station. This was previously the home of Archers, and a lot of money has been invested converting the building into a venue primarily for eating, but with the brewery sited to the right of the bar and visible through large windows. Beers were drinkable, certainly an improvement on the predecessor’s and service was friendly with tasters being offered. Well worth a visit.“
