“To be honest yes it’s touristic, but the location is nice and the beers more than ok so why complain for it !? I had a good knuckle and 3 beers . Ok place“

“Came here with Bernie on 31.7.2020. A Nano Brewery located in the 10th district opened up a few months ago by an Australian and his Austrian wife. They serve 6 beers in bottles only, seems they will invest in a tapping system later. Nice patio and friendly ambiance (could be more detailed oriented). The IPA and Scottish Ale were quite ok, the Porter and the Stout are better. Will come back and observe the development of this place.“

“We came here the second time on 25.7.2020. A nice beer bar with a very comfortable patio. 8 beers on tap including Zwettler Saphir and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Very friendly service and an interesting food menu. They open every day at 8:00 am and serve a delicious breakfast. Good addition to the Vienna bee scene.“

“This place has been open for a while, but somehow I never made it. Probably not so interesting for me, because they dont do mostly Hungarian beers instead of Austrian ones (they are related to zip's brewery). They have an extensive tap menu. I only had time for one beer, and tried the Dry Stout with Cocoa beans. Man, it was not good. Quite strong veggie smell. Its possible that it just sat in the keg too long. Overall the place is quite nice (and rather big though). Bit on the Hipsterish side. Patio was nice and decently sized too. I was surprised for the food. I did the veggie burgers. Usually its hard to do good veggie burgers, but this one was really nice. I might have to give this another try, but yeah, if you dont sell enough beers for them to stay good, just decrease the number of kegs for a while. At the time of my visit, they did 0,3l as the smallest size, so not super tasting friendly. If the beer I tried was in better shape I would have rated this higher, probably means I need to revisit.“

Beer Store Vienna (Beer Store)
WILHELMSTRASSE 23
“A surprisingly fine shop. It has hardly international beers, but the deep selection of austrian beers is amazing. You get the foll sortiment of several austrian craft-brewers, which you can't find somewhere else. The shop is small, but nice and the information of the shopkeepers is good. It's possible to have a beer in the lobby of the shop. The beers are stored in refigerators which keeps their aroma. Quite far away from the toutistical places, but worth a visit.“

“Quite far from city center or hauptbahnof, but you will get historical neighbourhood brewpub. Ambiance I liked a lot. Staff was polite, knwledgeable about beers and quick. I was there during lunch time and there were quite lot of people wanting to eat.Beers were OK, except weizen. Weizen was excellent.“

“New, modern brewpub in 4.bezirk. They have usually 8 taps, flights are available for reasonable prices. if you are lucky enough, you can talk with brewer. Two beers were tasty, other 5 average. For me still recommended palce.“

“Hotel with attached restaurant and brewery. The restaurant is huge, and quite spacious, they also have a rather large (and nice) backyard outdoor area. Place seems to be Brau Union (Heineken) affiliated. The beers were good though and in good shape. Rather traditional style oriented. They do an IPA, but rather an old school version of one. They have a broad bottle selection of bottles, looks like the Ammersin selection (and prices accordingly). Prices for their own beers are Ok. Food is a mix between traditional stuff and burgers. The food we had tasted ready made and rather average, and for that it was also a bit pricy. Overall Ok place, if you just come for the beers you could do worse in Vienna. Good for the ticks and the convenient location close to Westbahnhof.“

“New addition to the Craft beer scene in Vienna. 28 taps, which is impressive, unfortunatly selection is a bit bland, you get the Ammersin stock which basically every 2nd craft beer bar in Vienna has. They do have some interesting beers, but they are pushing the bigger craft brands like brewdog, tiny rebel or also bevog. Austrian selection is a bit poor. Nice that they offer tasters. 3 euros for 100ml is a bit steep though. Overall prices are a bit on the higher side. The place is right on the busy shopping street. When I visited we just stayed outside and I didnt actually have a look inside (need to visit again). Place seems to have two floors though. Overall Ok place, probably not very interesting if you are looking for Austrian beers. Nice that they have tasters though. I think they do Pizza mainly as food.“

Die Bierothek Wien (Beer Store)
NEUBAUGASSE 72
“New beer store that opened right before Covid got started (so a bit unfortunate for the owners). Seems to be based on a franchise concept that was imported from Germany. Probably because of that they have lots of German beers. Probably easily 3 times the amount of German beers compared to Austrian ones. German selection is nice, they have some Craft beers like Sudden Death or Flügge, but also lots of traditional styles. Many not that interesting, but also some Franconian stuff (Krug and others, but also Schlenkerla or Spezial). Austrian selection was not that interesting (yet), mostly lagers by mid sized breweries that are not that hard to come by. A couple micros. I came by because they posted a fb update about an Austrian micro that I have not had before (and not seen in Vienna before). Since Covid seems to be slowing down they seem to be posting constantly about new beers they get. Focus seems to be equally on craft and traditional styles. They have a double-fridge with a mix of bottles. Rest of the selection is not stored in fridges. Bottles can be drunk on site. Overall a good addition to the local beer scene. I hope they focus a bit more on their Austrian selection though. Prices were decent. Some stuff you can find cheaper in supermarkets, but overall good value for money, cosidering you can also drink on site. Depending on what you are looking for could be worth the visit.“

“Built in the location of the old "Perchtenbräu"; like the main-beaver-brew in Vienna it's for the "cool" people who like america-style pubs. It's strange that you have to order in eniglish language, but the beer is excellent. THe atmosphere is still from the rusty Perchtenbräu, but the toilets in the cellar is renovated. The food is ok, the beer is great, the place is fine.“

“We came here on 21.6.2020. Great concept: brewery, pub and hotel all together in the 15th district. Although Heineken/BrauUnion is owning this place I have to admit it has been very well done. 10 beers on tap: 3 brewed on site, 2 in Kaltenhausen (close to Salzburg, where the original Kaiser brewery is coming from) and 5 from other Heineken owned breweries. I had the Hoppy Lager, Wiener Lager and the IPA, all of them were quite delicious. Good bottle/can selection of Belgium, Austrian microbreweries, British and US beers. Golden brewhouse very visible next to the tap room and a few well arranged and furnished rooms. Good Austrian food menu. Very positive surprise, we will come back!“

“next to the brewery. a nice, modern shop based on the sortiment of Ottakringer. there are several other beers from other breweries (from Germany, Czechia, even Israel...) There are several shops with better collections of beer, but it is ok.“

“We visited the first time on 11.4.2020. The Next Level owners are selling here home brewing equipment, mainly Austrian craft beers and a few great German beers like Schlenkerla and Tegernseer. Small shop with a few Next Level taps. Well organized, good service and most importantly the beers are stored at cool temperatures in a separate room. We will come back!“

“THE place to go in Vienna. Amazing selection of independent beer. Always 10 beers & 2 nitro beers on tap, mainly from around Europe (Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands). Available in different sizes. The bottleselection in the fridges is stunning! Always Cantillon, Antidoot, 3 Fonteinen & Cantillon available. Not only core range, also specials. The personal is super friendly and helpful. They advised me to try the cheese platter. That one was stunning! Lovely cheese, nice dips and pairing very nice with their beers. Would highly recommend trying out this platter. Modern interieur, nice outside seating. If you are in Vienna, this is the place you NEED to visit if you love craft beer.“

“A place for the high society of Vienna due to the rich quaters nearby. Also many studends can be found here and it is easy reachable by subway U6. It is a old, rusty brew-pub with a nice garden and sometime live music. Till 2019 ist was a smokersrestaurant, why i didn't really enjoyed the atmosphere of dark wood and pictures of old VIenna at the walls. Food is fatty and mosty meat (classic old Vienese beer-food) and quite expensive. The beer is fine, but not my favourite (beer and restaurant) in Vienna.“

“We came here on 29.2.2020. A small bar in the 8th district serving 6 great BrewAge beers on tap + several others in bottles. Seems this bar is not owned by BrewAge but definitely is focused on their beers. Needless to mention that beers were great and we will be back very soon!“

“We came to the new Beaver Brewing location in the 5th district on 7.3.2020. Really happy to see that one of the best breweries in Vienna is expanding. They had 8 beers on tap including 2 guest beers (Der Belgier, Next Level). All beers are good. Small U-shaped bar, dark ambiance. Food menu looked good, typical US bar food. We will come back soon for sure.“

“We came here on 6.3.2020. Small beer place with a comfortable bar. 5 beers and 1 Cider on tap. A NEIPA from Browar Stu Mostow (Poland) 6.2% was the highlight. A nice bottle beer selection, a good mix of US and Austrian Craft breweries. The bartenders were not very beer interested. Overall another good beer bar in Vienna.“

“We came here on 21.2.2020. Located at the beginning of Mariahilfer Strasse. Large restaurant area serving Pizza with scissors. The bar is strange as you cannot order beers from the staff behind the bar. Instead you can order using an App. The beer selection would be good, but many beers were not available. Also some of the food choices were not available anymore. Beers are tapped without foam. Overall a more touristic place, beer culture is not the focus.“

“A quite new place in Vienna. Modernisic, stylish bar with several craft beers on tap. When I was there, there was Tap-takeover from Bierol with beers nearly not available -except at the brewery. Although the english-speeking guy next to me at the bar didn't want to communicate, I enjoyed my stay. The toilets look quite unpleasant , but only the door is disgusting and the interial is modern and quite clean. Prices are, everyone has to decides of he/she is willing to pay 6€ for 0,33l beer.“

“A place located next to the entrance to the (Lower) Belvedere park and palace. Crowded with tourists, we got a small table in the basement. Beer selection included traditional lagers (helles, dunkel, märzen, pils), weizen and according to the leaflets also some chilli-beer. Five samples of 0,1 dl are avalaible for 7,90 EUR. All beers were fair, from the food selection we only tried the apfelstrudel. Suitable as a stop during the sightseeing, as the location indicates, to get food&drinks.“

“A brand new place situated in the park near the Upper Belvedere (the location on the map is not correct). I was not able the find the beer offer online, then there I realize that the selection is the exactly same as in the Salm Bräu next to the Lower Belvedere (helles, märzen, dunkel, pils and weizen), all fair. 0,1 dl samples are also avalaible. The restaurant is set in a nice, quite place with a good view although some construction work near in progress. Decent and modern restaurant.“

“Recently reopened place under a brand which already operates two breweries in Bratislava (Meštiansky pivovar). So the beer offer is the same - light and dark lager, both very decent, the food selection was quite wide. The helpful and careful staff was quick, but the place during early Saturday afternoon was not so crowded. A great place if you prefer onsite brewed Czech-styled lagers“

“We came here on 2.2.2020. Brand new brewery located in the Belvedere Park. Brewery (Salm) in separate building with good visibility from outside. Very nice restaurant area with great view in the park. Beers are mediocre (Pils is far away from the style, Weizen come much closer). Food was outstanding.“

“We came here on 1.2.2020 one hour before closing time (midnight). Would not classify this place as beer restaurant, but definitely has unique flair and should not be missed. Food was typical Austrian and very good (serving til midnight). Beer selection is nothing special (we were drinking wine).“

“Next to Salm-Bräu the most touristical brewpub of Vienna. It's always full and if you want to have lunch, be sure that you have a reservation. The beer is good and it is the only spot i know where house-brewed IPA is served on tap. Due to the touristical visitors, there's a menu in English, Italian and Russian and these languages can really be heard in the restaurant. One problem is that the number of toilets is not approbriate to the number of guests. It is a nice spot, but not my favourite.“

“A cosy, calm place not in the direct center of Vienna. fine house-beers. warm, welcoming staff and a small black dog living here. The food is nice and fine for beer - also some meals for vegatarians. old-school interiaor wirth dark wood. Actual newspapers to read for cusomers When I was there, the cook forgot my dark braed with a fried egg - after 10 minutes i asked the waiter and it was brought in an instand; then the waiter asked every 10 minutes, if everything is ok. Unfortunately I wasn't able to try the Stout, because the quality was not ok, so the didn't sell it (better than giving it to customers and saying, it's fine -thanks for the sincerity)“
