“Visited this place as the Alpine Brew name caught my attention when driving by. It was quite a disappointment when I realized that there wasn’t that much selection. Mostly the most obvious US beers and some German and Bavarian beers. Only 6-packs. I left the store empty-handed. Quite close to this on the same street there was another store called Bavarian Bottle Shop. There I found some Oktoberfest single bottles in cold.“

“Rustic-themed touristy package store with a small but decent selection of mostly German macros and regional micros. Of course they have all the industrials if you need that too. I did find a couple of bombers from Clown Shoes which were a nice surprise. Everything is available in singles which is a plus, and the staff is friendly if not especially beer knowledgeable. Prices seemed reasonable especially given the uber-tourist location.“

“Went here with some friends after a hiking trip. There is a bar/pub downstairs with a restaurant upstairs. The character is nice, but the quarters are tight and the building has obvious signs of age. That night a game was on so the bar was full, but service still seemed prompt at the bar, the restaurant was a little slower when we got our table. Several German beers available as well as some other craft brews. They have all the steins and weizen glasses you can use and even offer the beer boot. The food is good, a little pricey, but good. the goulash is nice and spicy and the schnitzel sandwich with some German mustard is ok, nothing spectacular. Both the barmaid and chef are from Germany. Overall a decent place for a German beer drinking evening.“

“The food was great as was the accordian player. I went to this as I also found it on You-Tube with good comments. Great food and a very good Beer selection. I just wish they had Ayinger Octoberfest... at least during Octoberfest celebrations. Couldn’t find anywhere in Helen and it’s my favorite Marzen. Still, Helen’s Octoberfest is an event you don’t want to miss.“

“This is a little local pizzeria located just outside Helen, GA. I went there following a rock climbing trip because everything in downtown Helen was packed because of a biker convention. It was far better than I expected. The pizza was delicious and the service was prompt and friendly. The beer selection was respectable, with plenty of craft beers and local brews. Overall, a nice place with good pizza and beer.“

“Since there wasn’t a store entered yet, I felt like it might help anyone who gets the pleasure of going to this tourist trap at least one stop with a decent beer selection. The town is German themed so to start they have lots of German beer, most of the well known German breweries, Paulaner, Warsteiner, Erdinger, etc. They also have the full Schlenkerla lineup which was nice to see. Additionally they have plenty of macro, about one cooler door of micros, another cooler of locals from Sweetwater, Terrapin, and Atlanta Brewing. Lots of singles for the 500mL bottles and I asked for a single of a six pack and the guy working the register broke it which was nice. 750s of Unibroue stuff also available as well as pricy 9 dollar ceramic bottles of the three St. Sebastiaan beers. Overall a solid place, just remember no beer sales at all in the down on Sundays, you can get served in a bar for 5 bucks a pint if that is your thing, it isn’t for me.“

“This is not a fancy beer garden or a restaurant with a great selection of food. But for a small bar in the middle of no where it has an outstanding selction of beer. Good people and atmosphere and best of all the CORN DOGS ARE FREE!!!!“

“It is hidden down a little alleyway in the middle of Helen. Attached to a Fudge shop and the Restaurant of the same name. The sign that caught my eye read, Steins for Sale. 2L Boot Glass for $70! So I wandered in and found a selection of German Beers that were unlike any I have found so far in Georgia. The flavored Warsteiners were here. A vast selection and different varieties of Augustiner, Aventinus, Weihenstephaners, and many others that I have not been able to find even at Green’s ! Very impressive. Lots of beer glasses for sale, lots of steins for sale as well. We ate in the restaurant that was attatched. Best German food in the State!“

“Original thoughts Apr 18, 2006 ------- The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired. It’s pretty small and loud. It’s definitely more of a sports bar, but if you’re into that thing then you’d probably like it a lot more than I do. The quality and freshness of the beer has always been good for me and things look like they’re kept up well. The reason I will keep coming back to this place is the food and beer selection. This place has an astounding selection when you consider its location. This is hands-down the best beer bar in the Helen area. It also has some of the best food. They also have a really nice bottle selection with stuff from American micros (my brother had the Stoudt’s winter seasonal last time) and several Belgians, if the draft beers don’t cut it for you. Overall, this is definitely a must-visit whenever you’re in Helen! Re-rate 1/26/2007 ---- I have been here several times since my initial rating (most recently yesterday) and am still impressed. Service has been a little better the past few times. Food’s still good. Prices are semi-high, but the beer selection is completely unparralled in Northeast GA. On-tap highlights were all current Terrapin beers, Dale’s Pale Ale, and stuff like Hoegaarden, Lindemans Framboise, etc. Still Top Notch for the area!“
