54 /100 Cobblestones (Bar) 71 EASTOVER Whitewashed stone pub by the A38 a 5 minute walk out of the town centre. Five or six on cask & keg on offer, plus real cider. The terrace out the back is nice on a sunny day |
66 /100 Fountain Inn (Bar) 1 WEST QUAY One room pub alongside the river next to the town bridge. A selection of mainly local cask, not a very inspiring selection but usually kept OK and cheap. Seating out front, very pleasant when the sun comes out |
58 /100 Carnival Inn (JDW) (Bar) 37 ST MARY STREET Two roomed pub in the town centre. Decent patio out the back. The selection of cask beer isn’t usually terribly inspiring. Standard JDW fare. |
62 /100 Carnival Inn (JDW) (Bar) 37 ST MARY STREET By the church in the town centre, this pub occupies a couple of very different, but adjoining buildings but it’s pretty much a uniform look inside. This is however comfortable and convivial enough. Stopped here for food in 2012 as it’s not too far away off the M5 and the ’Curry Night’ was doing just as well here as it does in other pubs in the chain. There’s lots of local pictures on the wall including a frameless one of Bridgewater Castle. |
50 /100 Carnival Inn (JDW) (Bar) 37 ST MARY STREET Despite the older surroundings to this Wetherspoons it is quite a modern, large roomed building inside. A little barn like, gets full of breakfasting people early on, very popular in this town. Service was quite quick really but the beer range not brilliant on my visit, just the JDW national range. |
58 /100 Open Bottles (Beer Store) 37 EASTOVER A good little beer shop, plenty of West Country and beyond bottled real ale. The stock tends to be bottles you will not find in supermarkets but are still sold at competitive prices.
