68 /100 CLEVEDON LANE,
“A multi-roomed country pub just outside Portishead and close to the M5, which explains why it is frequented by a mix of locals and tourists passing through the area. The main attraction is the building itself, which dates back to the 14th century in parts, and includes ancient fireplaces, a collection of muskets and village photos from the late 19th century onwards, including Adge Cutler and the Wurzels enjoying a pint of cider in the pub’s garden in the early 1970s. Beer wise, expect the standards of Butcombe, Bath Gem and Courage Best, with a guest beer from somewhere like Exmoor or Great Western. Ciders are more exciting, with six or so from Thatchers, including some of the more unusual ones. Food, either rolls or casseroles is good value. Worth a visit, especially in the summer when the garden is lovely.“
