“Cut through this pub during my treacherours walk from the Dove to the Beerhouse in this non-pedestrian friendly area. Selection was of course Greene King, but I few I hadn't had before, all unexciting.“

“A far bit off the beaten track but worth the journey. Most locals were standing at the bar and I was welcomed into the group - by a fellow New Yorker who has lived near the pub for 30+ years. Friendly barman guided me through the six casks on offer and three draft ciders, even providing samples without being asked. Worth the detour.“

“Stayed in the rooms here, which were nice enough. Ate one dinner here which was pretty decent. Six of their beers on cask, nothing exciting, all variants of bitters plus a stout. Gruff staff. An OK stop and an adequate base for exploring Bury.“

“Wow, I followed the route (or so I thought) that a recent CAMRA pub crawl took from the Dove to get here, and it really shows that pedestrians in the UK take their lives in their hands. Next time I'll drink drive, it's safer. OK, Uber probably. Anyway, it was worth the risk and three near heart attacks. Nice range of both cask ales and keg beers from Brewshed and one or two of their partners. Interesting ciders as well. Flights of five thirds available, holy cow. I did not see any food. Helpful, friendly and enthusiastic bar staff. Worth a visit.“

Beautiful Beers (Beer Store)

“On one of my favorite streets in Bury, filled with characterful little coffee shops and restaurants, and just a short walk from the Old Cannon Brewery rooms where I was staying. Nice selection of mainly Belgian beers including the now hard to find Struise beers. Less of a selection of local beers, but he did have one shelf devoted to East Anglia with maybe half a dozen different small breweries represented, plus cans of Duration in the fridge. Very friendly owner, knew the beers well and had helpful advice. Decent prices as well. A must-stop while in Bury.“

“The website links to a wine shop, but this location sells beers from the Nethergate Brewery in Long Melford, as well as their distilled spirits. There is also a small bar downstairs where you can drink beers, wine or spirits in house.“

“Classy fancy place right on the square in front of the main entrance of the Abbey Gardens. Good view of said gardens from the dark wood paneled bar, just to your right as you enter; there is a tiny snug (one table) just next to the bar. Had you turned left you'd have entered a place the restaurant, lots of cushy informal comfy chairs though. And you could continue on to the lounge, where I would have been the youngest person there by 20 years at least, but that seems to be the spot for afternoon tea in Bury. It was the bar for me, where I was the oldest person there by at least 40 years. Table service. Prices are actually average for a posh place. Different beers on offer here than elsewhere, so it's worth a look.“

“Smart bottle shop and souvenir store right in the heart of the city, in the more or less pedestrianized zone. Beer selection goes beyond Adnams, swag on offer sticks mainly to the brand. Worth a stop if you're nearby.“

“Massive Greek revival temple in the heart of the city. The pub is upstairs, so sadly the only sense you get of the building itself is of the glass roof - interesting enough, but disappointing. Long queue for beer, for the standard Doom Bar and a couple from Greene King.“

“Visited around opening time at 11am, only to find out that this is when the homeless men of Bury stop in for a pint. I couldn't complain, since I am technically homeless too, although I bathe more often. Anyway, the bar area is small, a serving bar and three bar tables; the rest of the place is restaurant tables, and there's a medium sized patio as well, some of which is covered. Six cask ales, six ciders-in-a-box and six kegs on offer, with flights of any of these available. Lots of guest beers, mostly from Norfolk, and the ciders are mostly from Lilley. OK place, I should return in the evening.“

“Visited 16/6/2022. Breakfast before the beer festival. Superb historic building, yet another saved from dereliction by JDW’s. Pretty decent ‘spoons offering overall but the building itself is the high point.“

“Utilising the upper floor of the striking Corn Exchange building in Bury, it has a decent atmosphere in a symmetrically laid out pub plan with the bar in the middle of the room under the skylight. Mostly just nationally available cask brews on my visit.“

Beautiful Beers (Beer Store)

“Review is for the online shop. Had a positive experience. The best thing about this place is, for me, the selection, which is quite different from what I see in other bottle shops. This place has a ton of random Belgian breweries, some other European breweries, local breweries. I bought 19 beers and not a single hazy IPA, pastry stout or fruity sour beer, but lots of old school British styles and traditional Belgian stuff. Prices are extremely reasonable. Shipping was fairly quick, everything arrived safely. I'll definitely order from this place again.“

“Ten of their own beers were on at our stay; six on cask and four on tap, all of them available on a sample tray of five 1/3 pint glasses. The pub is located close to a roundabout, just a few minuets from the railway station. Half-moon bar in a medium size, quite classic pub room, including an open fire place. Helpful service. Our stay here was strengthened by good music from Kinks, Supremes and Oasis. (Visited with Finn 12.11.2021)“

“This cozy, medium-sized brewpub with the brewery in the cellar is located close to the main church in town, and not more than 5-6 minutes walk from the train station. Their range of six well-kept cask ales are supported by a few kegs and bottles. A sample tray of three beers are available in one-third pint measures.. Excellent and welcome service. On our stay there was great music in the back from Style Counsil, Jam, and Undertones. (Visited with Finn 12.11.2021).“

“On our visit in November 2021 they had about 120 different beers from 17 breweries in East Anglia (Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and Essex) supported by other British beers and some from other countries. We bought quite a few bottles from Suffolk breweries like De Vossen and Artefact. Excellent service. About ten minutes walk from the train station towards the city center. (Visited with Finn 12.11.2021).“

“This place is neither a cellar nor a kitchen store, but a decent bottle shop with mostly beers on cans and bottles from Adnams and their collabs. We bought some of their latest arrivals, and was very satisfied with the friendly and helpful service. Central location and fair prices. (Visited with Finn 12.11.2021).“

“A well-kept, old fashion, independent pub just outside of the main center in Bury St Edmunds. A sheltered drinking yard in front of the pub. Six cask ales and a few craft beers among the taps. Friendly service in cozy surroundings. (Visited with Finn 12.11.2021).“

“The beer café is a part of Greene King's visiting center at the brewery. A bottle and souvenir shop to the right of the entrance and a rather small café to the left. Six beers on cask and six on keg. They do beer flights of three 1/3 pint glasses. Polite service. Opens early and closes late in thee afternoon. (Visited with Finn 12.11.2021).“

“The Wetherspoon place in Bury St Edmunds has a very central location, right in the middle of the town in a huge, grand I listed building from the 1860s. The design of the old Corn Exchange has been well kept, including monuments and the grand entrance door. The building in itself is worth a visit. Otherwise it is ordinary spoons with 12 hand-pulled cask ales and a decent, cheap, traditional breakfast. Our first stop on day crawl in Bury St Edmunds. (Visited with Finn 12.11.2021).“

“Slightly set back from its road in the centre of town this smallish shop-unit packs in lots of brews from the Low Countries along its longest wall with some harder to find ones too. Opposite on the service side a couple of stacks of local brews are available. It's quite refreshing in modern times to see a still mainly bottle rather than canned ale retailer!“

“In one corner of several brewery buildings together on the fringe of the centre. This is a pub, shop and the start of the tour, whichever suits! All the beers are naturally from Greene King or their owned breweries and prices are good... but I guess the beer hasn't travelled far.“

“Had to check. Yes, it was 10/08/20. I had not stepped into a time machine. Worn but friendly, as was the guy who I guess was the barman. Two ticks from 5 beers. All East Anglian. There was an old Norwich Brewery pump and I suspect it had been there since the last time the bar was redecorated. Not particularly busy but it's away from the centre. The other customers were a mixture of regulars - OAPs and PE teacher as far as I could tell. Old school local freehouse.“

“Visited on 10/08 when I met up with SHIG. However I'd driven passed it earlier in the day and thought it looked an interesting little place. It's on what I'd term as a service road - it's been built at the rear of another building I presume. Somewhere between a pub and a micropub. Should probably be called Oakes Garage for accuracy. However internally it is a traditional pub style. Was pretty busy for a Tuesday at 18:30, with people sat inside and outside - although the crowd was thinner when I dropped in a few hours later on route back to our hotel. Something like 5 kegs and 5 casks (possibly more), all East Anglian. 5 new ticks for me from the likes Adnams, Grain, Woodfordes, Lacons, Mauldons and Bishop Nick. So decent for regional ticks even if the beers themselves were not overly exciting. Would be interested to know if that's the norm or if they get in beers from further afield as well. Friendly staff and warm atmosphere. Overall a decent pub.“

“Have seen this public house brewery change over the last forty years Positioned just outside the town centre it has both casual visitors and regular visitors Whilst not the biggest of venues it has a great atmosphere can be bit clicky on a Sunday afternoon I have had good at this venue but it’s the ale I go for Gunners daughter will be their flagship ale and the bitter is also very good Selection varies week to week and usually local ales are sourced My last visit mauldons has two beers on tap“

“Не был в магазине но сайт вполне солидный. Очень уникальный набор пивасов. Как пример впервые в жизни я увидел сорта пивоварни Fantome. Есть редкие и топовые бутылочки из Северной Америке. Доставка хорошая с приятным буклетиком. В целом все советую, сайт разве что требует небольших косметических иноваций.“

Beautiful Beers (Beer Store)

“Online review. Website is a little old school but perfectly function. The selection of beers available is pretty massive and contains a lot of regional UK beers, also good for Belgian beers, they even frequently stock Westvleteren (all three of them) albeit it at expensive prices. Other than those specific beers the pricing is pretty standard. Packing was fine, beers were wrapped in cardboard pieces, air cushions on top of them to prevent movement. In terms of communication I had no notice of my beers being dispatched, it was only when I logged into my account that I found out they had been, which happened quickly. One of my beers was accidentally substituted for another, I complained and received a very apologetic response the next day, even offering a refund. I chose not to accept as I was keeping the beer and it was just a simple human error, no big deal. Will most likely be ordering from again in the future. From reading reviews I get the impression their physical shop is even better than the online one.“

“This rating is for the online store. Great selection of mostly UK beers but also from other countries. They also have a selection of mead. Within an hour of ordering they had already packed my box and returned the extra charge for shipping out of the UK. It was 25 pounds for shipping to Denmark which is not bad at all. Quick shipping and solid packing.“

“Set up a brewery tour on Sunday, it was great because they were closed so the 4 of us on the tour had free reign. The guide was great and very informative. We got to try all the beers on tap, several bottles and 1 to go all for £18. They have most of their products for sale in the cafe as well.“

“One of the bigger Adnams shops with the best range I've seen too in any of their shops which I've visited with probably 40+ different beers available. As perhaps something of an interloper in an otherwise GK dominated town I guess it had to put on a good show. Staff were very friendly. Worth a visit if looking for some new Adnams ticks and they seem to get all the new stuff in here as it comes out.“

“8 cask, 4 keg plus some Brewshed cans and a couple of ciders available on this, my first visit (don't normally get to Bury on a Saturday). Quite modern interior, good service, friendly crowd. Small car park alongside with space for 6-8 cars. Closest place to station (which is worth a visit anyway). A place I'd visit more if it opened before 5 on a weekday.“

“Big and quite modern interior, comfortable environment and a decent place to stop on the way back from Beautiful Beers to the station. Beer selection is what it is. Quite heavily focused on GK's Craft Academy beers which are so-so. Definitely better than waiting at the station for 40 minutes if en route to the train and the Beerhouse is not open.“
