“This place has been recommended to me a few times and have been meaning to try it out. However I wasn't expecting to do so as a funeral wake, nevertheless I was there earlier today. Lovely looking rustic old building. Down here as a restaurant but I think it would be fair to just call it a pub. The inside is quite dark and was rammed so didn't really take in the decor. The walled garden has a lot of tables and was a sun trap on this lovely April afternoon. 18 taps but a number were repeats. Must be tied to Greene King as they had their own branded beer which I presume was that one GK do, plus a couple of those Craft Academy offerings. As well as some standard macros lagers (Spanish, Italian and two Czech) and ciders they also had local offerings from Little Beer, Tillingbourne, Surrey Hills and Hogs Back. The food was buffet style but really lovely so my wife and I plan to come back for a meal. The only negative were the bar staff but the three of them were perhaps overrun by regular punters and the large turn out from the funeral. It took forverer to get served, they were somewhat abrupt to other customers and then served other people before me. However, whilst I was expecting good food, they also take the pub part seriously. Can't comment on value as there was an extremely generous tab.“
