“Close to Littlehampton railway station and the marina swing bridge this is quite a large Fuller's pub right next to the river Arun. There are a few smokers benches to the front, a bar as you enter, then a large restaurant area with river views but the best aspect is the patio area at the back with multiple benches and more river views. They had 2 beers from the Fuller's stable plus a local guest beer on my visit. It seems very popular for a town lacking decent pubs, not a beer hunters pub but certainly one to take the family.“

“A typical old skool community boozer. Carpets, oak beams and wallpaper. Newspapers for those that want them. Friendly locals. Three cask ales and half a dozen macro kegs, including Neck Oil. Dog and child friendly. In fact the landlords dog roams around the bar. Not far from the beach and I know where I’d rather be! 10 Pounds minimum for card payments but if your bill is less they give you the cash back.“

“A standard Spoons. Decent cask selection and better than most. Probably due for a returb soon. Not the worst place in the world.“

“Well they still have the London Pride plus Neck Oil and a few macro beers. Nice location on a sunny day with an outdoor patio but that’s about it.“

“Visited on 21st October 2017. Reasonable sized Spoons in the town centre, the decor was reasonable and the clientele seemed above average for a Spoons, a solid beer range, decent service and low prices. Whilst it's not the best pub in town it'll do for a swift pint.“

“Visited on 21st October 2017. Nice local back street pub about 15 mins walk from the station. A couple of rooms, real fire, smart decor and a nice feel to the place. Beer range was decent enough, picked up a new beer here. Service friendly, prices good. One of the better pubs we visited. “

“Large, deep and prominent pub on High Street. Set up for television sports and flashing machines. The beers are all from the G.K stable, even the so called guest, served in reasonable condition though.“

“June '23 review. My word this has gone down hill. Really very little on the beer front now, just 3 pretty average beers on the hand pulls and a single craft keg that you can get anywhere. It's a sports bar now with monster sized TV's dominating. Disappointed. 2016 review. This is a popular back street local but only just off the sea front, so in a way really well placed. Friendly and very inclusive, it looks to be a freehouse but may be a pubco thinking about it. They try really hard with their beer and on my visit there was a beer festival going on with really decent prices. It’s well worth a visit.“

“My word, this must have changed for the worse since Leighton’s visit. Only one beer available, London Pride! All the kegs bog standard. Felt like someone’s front room. Not for me.“

“The George is one of the better Spoons on the circuit, comfortable and clean, it looks well run at present. The staff were cheery and quick. It’s quite a large room, bright and open. Lacks a little on the choice front but okay. It’s fine.“

“This place is peculiar. A few tidbits:

The decor here is shockingly obsolete. The motif is something like cheap 1970s disco crossed with modern gaudy Middle Eastern.

The bar’s web address ends in .club. Let me repeat: . club.

Somewhat inexplicably, The Empress actually offers some obscure real ales. It’s beyond me how that jives with the club ethos, the occasional stand-up comedy nights or the low-brow seaside tourists this place seems to attract, but there you go.

I don’t remember why I decided to check this place out, but I’m glad I did. Not only did I stumble into some new rates, I also got to experience what must be one of the ooddest real ale drinking establishments in England.“

“Located in the heart of the town away from the seafront of this resort town, this is a very traditional Wetherspoon in terms of style and ambiance with a good mix of clientele throughout the day. There’s a large open space to the left as you enter and the tables stretch back into the building as far as the kitchen at the back wall. Ales are on two rows of pumps at the bar. If the weather is good the attractive walled patio area along its side is worth checking out.“
