66 /100 Alfred (North) (Bar) 6 STONEGATE ROAD One room venue from 'North' Brewery with their own brews as well as guests on both their cask and keg options, served from the central to the back wall bar. The room itself in this 'bar' style hut appearance venue is long than it is deep. |
80 /100 8A STONEGATE ROAD, MEANWOOD A few yards down an alleyway at the side of North Brewing's Alfred bar. You enter the small square shop unit microbar through its pleasant equally small terrace area. The bar at the back of the room has mostly Meanwood brews on cask and keg but guests exist too, all worthwhile in selection. As a bottle shop too the left wall is full of fridges, which are full of crafted brew cans from the local area as well as up and down the country, and a few in bottles too. |
90 /100 8A STONEGATE ROAD, MEANWOOD An excellent tap room in the same place as the Meanwood Brewery, it's located in Meanwood being a village or suburb in the outskirts of Leeds. To get here I walk north-east for about 35 minutes from the Parkinson Building at Leeds University. Buses from central Leeds is also an option. A great little four-sided room in a backyard with a nice patio outside and next door to the brewery. 17 taps, four cask ales, that also includes two homemade wine. The bottle shop was not establish at my visit. Among the taps there were nine decent Meanwood beers supported by a few guest beers from regional breweries. Beers are served in thirds. A retro touch to the main room, lovely rooms upstairs where an interesting gallery can be found with Leeds paintings done by a local artist who told me about his artworks. Very friendly service, I really appreciated the kindness, hospitality and beer knowledge given by the girl at work. Brit pop in the back. Just a great experience. (Visited 03.07.2019). |
