62 /100 Alma Inn (Bar) COTTON STONES In the small village of Lumb south of Sowerby and accessed through undulating country roads, this pub has a mix of old and new with a pizza restaurant attached. The pub is suitably older world in style at least with a predominantly wooden design and furniture and it’s certainly a nice place to enjoy your vice. In total contrast the restaurant is bright and modern in design and table furniture. It’s possible to walk between the two within the building. Outside is slightly disappointing, the extensive tarmac car park is right next to the concrete patio entrance to both businesses and it does look too urban for this very rural setting. Picnic tables are all around the car park and offer good views across the valley, but the best area to sit outside is the grass knoll by the side of the pizza restaurant which has the greatest concentration of picnic tables on it. There’s a choice of three ales on pumps. Has a resident dog. |
