48 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Decent selection of English beers but I'm a Belgian fan and Asda only supplies 1 or 2 Belgian beers. |
64 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Asda tends to be our go-to supermarket chain, but it isn't for the beer. The range isn't terrible, but it isn't on a par with the likes of Tesco or even Morrison's. You can usually find a hoppy pale at a good price from the likes of Siren, Seven Bro7hers and Vocation as well as quite a few BrewDog. Certainly a better selection than even two years ago. From what I can tell they don't rotate their selection all that often, but enough so that I can grab a haul of new rates once or twice a year. For deliveries, expect more than your fair share of substitutions. |
44 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS There is a decent volume of bottled lagers and traditional ales although mostly well known brands. There are some craft options available but not to the level of Morrisons. The main issue is the churn of new beers is almost non existent. I shopped here recently after a 3 month gap and there wasn't a single new beer. |
54 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS As you’d expect from this supermarket chain. Reasonable prices and some offers. Generally a few regional beers so a different selection in different areas. |
60 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Free wifi. Decent selection of craft beer but Tesco and Morrisons are better |
50 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Huge supermarket chain, part of the Walmart group. This has certainly upped its game over recent years in some supermarkets but can be sporadic. Imported American craft beer can be found. |
58 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Minimal, but clean environment, in other words a soulless place. The choice of beer and cider is pretty good, I would say slightly better than average with some good deals to be had. |

62 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Supermarket, visited several locations including Cheltenham and Stafford, have used online once. Garish green and beige decor means I can only give it 1 for ambiance, worst look of any supermarket I think. Service is about average for a supermarket, no real complaints but nothing outstanding either. Selection has improved a lot in the past year or so, obviously stocking a large range of lagers and traditional stuff but upping their craft game now, competing on a level near Morrisons and M&S. Nothing to blow your mind but great for people new to craft beer. Value is obviously quite good with it being a supermarket and them typically stocking lower priced stuff, when the craft offerings are on offer there's some good deals to be had. Overall worth checking out if you're fairly new to craft beer, but it is just a supermarket so not much more to be said. |
52 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Seriously upped their game of late, ten years too late, and now no longer consistently the worst UK supermarket for beer but worthy of mention as a source. Selections currently favouring the northern English, canned and hoppy. Got so excited on my last visit I had to requsition a second trolley. AND THIS IS ONLY FOR BEERS I HAVE NEVER SAMPLED OR SEEN BEFORE. They’ve got plenty of others too. No ambience- it’s a fucking supermarket and as the chaviest of the lot, you’re as likely to get pick pocketed as buy something decent. Service? Got IDd at that stinking hellhole of a megastore in Leicester aged 38, bless the myopic old fools. BONUS POINT. Up there with Booth’s these days and definitely worth a look. |
62 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Not the best supermarket chain in the UK for beer selection but they do carry a few decent bottles and sometimes surprise you with a special or two. |
48 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Visited in Keighley, West Yorkshire. Normal supermarket with a choice of local and general beers. |
48 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS An ok selection of bottled ales and some easy to get Foriegn beers. Not much in the way of change of beers, overall probably the worst of the supermarkets. |
46 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS A good choice for a busy foreigner on the road. Review of basic English beers at good price. |
62 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Quite often mainstream beers. But absolutely well wort a visit for foreigners like me. Always something new. |
40 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Review based on vists to several Asda stores, but most recently the large store at High Wycombe. The cheapest of the "big 4" UK supermarkets and it shows. The beer selection is distinctly average - almost all of the UK choice being the standard pasteurised range from the big regionals. The service is generally abyssmal and moronic, although you do occassionally strike it lucky and find someone intelligent and friendly (usually they’re students on summer/ weekend jobs). That said, it is significanty cheaper that the rest of the "big 4", and if anyone is new to rating and wants to do the UK "standard" beers cheaply, this is probably your best bet. They regularly have the majority of their beers on cheap multibuy deals (3 UK beers for £5 at the time of writing, including even the stronger 6%+ beers), and have recently introduced a range of £1 beers. Their own-brand range (both in beer and food) is generally decent too. So, yeah, it has its place, but if you’re looking for anything even slightly unusual this is not the place for you. |
56 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Were on our last England holidays in the Asda supermarkets in Eastbourne and in Cowes / IoW. The selection was quite small in Cowes, but bigger in Eastbourne because it is a superstore there. The beers were ok but mainly mainstream and nothing very special. It is worth a look-through, yet no must. |
54 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Review is for Hamilton and Blantyre (that was latest visited) selection is pretty good for a foreigner vs brittish, a few local, and several macro foreign pale lagers. 100 + different ones. Less variation from time to time vs Sainsbury... |
36 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS What Colin said pretty much sums it up. Asda in Park Royal has a basic British range and the value is quite good, especially multiples. Mainly full of shitty imported lagers though. Nothing to see here |
52 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Review based on a couple of random Asda’s, Woking and Stevenage.
The latter had an OK range, the former not so hot. Just regional staples such as Marstons, Fullers, Robinsons etc. Pretty low budget supermarket in general so the range tends to be basic british stuff and cheap overseas macros.
You sometimes come across a good deal, such as 4 Courage RIS for £5, but compared to the other large supermarkets Asda are firmly bottom of the pile for me. There will of course be some stores, larger ones, that do have better ranges but I’m basing my view on an average store. |
56 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS This is the headquarter building in Leeds. Their supermarkets stock a decent range of ales including some local crafts for each store. Owns brands and popular lagers sold as well as plenty of ciders. |
74 /100 Asda Supermarket (Various locations) (Grocery Store) ASDA HOUSE, SOUTHBANK, GREAT WILSON STREET, LEEDS Good selection of European and British beer with good deals available |
