“Expect a walk to get here, around most of an industrial estate. Typical industrial unit with bar on one side and picnic tables. Popular. Decent array. Worth including on a crawl.“

“A bit of a trek to find this around an industrial estate. Apparently the gates onto the side street aren’t always open. Usual bench seat under a few gazebos. A fair few of their own beers on tap and can. Nice enough but a bit of a walk.“

“A curious place. It looked like a trendy student coffee shop from the outside but being around 8pm at this point I decided to venture in with the off chance they served beer. Turned out there were 4 craft taps and a small fridge of beers. I picked up something from Downton Brewery. They also sold wagon wheels and space invader crisps which were showing on the counter. It seems to be an art gallery and community meeting hub. Very chilled out place as you would expect. The Marxist book club is every Wednesday at 7pm but sadly clashes with the Role-playing club :(“

“Visited February 2023. Ratebeer Birmingham Beer Crawl Stop 5 with Rich, Fergus, Colin and Gene. Un sitio con ambiente bastante hipster, cheo de cans e moi bo ambiente. Food truck con comida española. Cervexas en boa condición e bastante variedade. Un bo sitio para pasar unha boa tarde degustando cervexas. Next one please!“

“Visited February 2023. Ratebeer Birmingham Beer Crawl Stop 4 with Rich, Fergus, Colin and Gene. Neste caso, un bar con boa selección de craft moderna en Stirchley. No cask. Servizo agradable e a posibilidad de traer comida dun itlaiano cercano fixo a degustación de cervexas bastante agradable. Next one please!“

“Visited February 2023. Ratebeer Birmingham Beer Crawl Stop 3 with Rich, Fergus, Colin and Gene. Unha nave un pouco alonxada do centro da cidade. O espazo é bastante bonito e agradable, con visión da fábrica e un amplio espazo no que degustar as súas cervexas. Tiñan tamén unha food truck no parking. Servizo moi atento, quizás por ir con xente local eu diría que máis atento do normal (de 10). Degustación e merchandising dispoñible. Next one please!“

“This pub has a lot more going for it than the British Oak close by at least beer wise. Quite spacious, fairly modern. The bar in the main area is mostly macro and and a couple of Bournbrook own labelled beers. I can only assume these are re-labelled beers from one of the local breweries. I ordered from this side without realising there is another side bar with 6 craft taps from local breweries including Attic Brew. Some of them looked new to me. There are a signs with 'Independent Republic of Stirchley' on them which while being ridiculous does highlight the growing confidence of the area. “

“Great old architecture and impressive bar area. The rooms off the main area were quite gloomy. I sat by an old fireplace almost willing it to be lit and bring warmth and light to the place. Its certainly not cosy. Beer wise its pretty much macro. They did a Brixton beer on tap although I had tried it before. I don't think I'll be returning.“

“Visited on a Thursday evening. Small rectangular room on entering with the bar at the far end. Tables with comfy benches (I think) on the right. Small tables with stools on the left. It felt a little like I was gate crashing a small restaurant as the comfy tables were being served food and a different clientele to your tap room folk. Turns out they serve food Tuesday to Thursday 5pm to 8.30pm (as at 07/04/23). Still when it comes down to it the 10 taps on offer were more interesting than the Wildcat close by and it still had that Stirchley 'chilled out' feel. I like the place.“

“Frequented on a Thursday evening. Nice little venue, quite relaxed. Square room with comfortable seating and tables around the edges. Someone had brought their dog in which was causing almost a queue to pet the well behaved pet. 5 hand pulls (of which 2 were not used) and 8 tap options. I was surprised to find I had already tried around 7 of the 11 options available. Quite a few were well tried but good beers by the like of Siren and Saltaire. I tried one of the cask which was in good condition. “

“Visited on a Thursday evening, Easter weekend. A minute walk from Bournville Station, on the left across the road as you come out the station. Walking in you come to a canopied area with seating and a food vendor if you come at the right time. Next to this is more open aired seating. Inside the taproom itself is a very spacious functional area with plenty more seating and long wooden benches. There can be a queue at the bar but they serve quickly. There are about 15 tap and 1 cask options including a couple of guest. There is a fridge full of Attic beers available to take home as well. Was very popular when I went. Quite a few dogs that were well behaved as mentioned on a previous review. It has a busy but relaxed social vibe. Mostly twenty somethings but a few in the 40-50s range like myself.“

“Large popular modern place in a mainly residential neighborhood. Long serving bar with tons of staff, lots of picnic tables, outdoor area looks like a former car park with a large tent and more tables, and some uncovered seating. Nice range of house beers all of which were pretty tasty. Lots and lots and lots of dogs, amazingly well behaved, considering. Worth spending some time here.“

“In the bookies. Modern industrial taproom attached to the brewery with no view into the brewhouse, but you can see the fermentation vessels if you walk around. Large range of their beers, all of which were not bad, just plain and unadventurous. Flights of three thirds available. Food truck had fajitas when we visited. Only if you're in the area anyway.“

“Large food oriented pub on the main road through Stirchley. Large open plan main room with a smaller couple of additional room. Beers are mainly local on the 6 craft line. Attic when I visited. Also have 8 or so lagers and a couple of rebated Bournbrook beers.“

“Nice place, though has somewhat of a restaurant feel. 4 cask lines, 6-8 keg lines, good variety of styles and breweries. Fridge was full of cans and sharing bottles, nicely chosen ciders. Bar chap couldn't serve people fast enough so he could get back to reading his book, which was quite endearing to see.“

“Small box room with a basic dive bar feel. 10 keg lines, mostly seshy pales, with a Good King Henry's and a Lindeman's gueuze; one canned Oliver's cider, four natural wines. Had no idea they did food during our visit, no menus on table or at bar. Maybe they've stopped..?“

“A super taproom inside the industrial unit brewery. All seats were outside when I visited during the summer months. I assume they come inside when it’s colder but I’m not sure where they will go. The place is new, clean and functional. Very modern and clean. Some money has been spent on the bar and toilets which is nice to see. Food is provided by an external caterer outside the brewery. Well worth a visit and close to Birmingham, Attic, Cotteridge and Stirchley in the Cotteridge / Stirchley triangle. Google had one hell of a job finding this place but once you have found Waterside Business Park it’s not difficult.“

“A very spacious venue inside the brewery with seating for almost 200 people, but during the summer months there is ample seating for people who prefer to sit outside. The place is very functional. Inside it’s lovely and warm during the summer, but I imagine this place is like a fridge during the winter months. They have 15 taps and one hand pull with around 20 cans / bottles. They have some local guest beers too. Cards only. No cash. Not far from Cotteridge, Glasshouse and Birmingham. Part of the Stirchley / Cotteridge Ale Trail! Food is usually available from an on-site vendor.“

“A sizeable, modern looking and expensively decorated taproom with comfortable seating for 90 people. They have four cask ales and 12 taps, plus a small can selection. No guest ales, but plenty of Birmingham specials. Friendly service. Not the easiest place to get to. I walked from Kings Norton station in 20 minutes but maybe a bus or an Uber is a better option.“

“Large brewery taproom adjacent to Bournville railway station. Lots of bench seating inside and out. Regular live music and food pop-ups. Around 12 of the breweries beers pouring, mostly on keg. I found it noisy - and expensive for a brewery taproom.“

“Small brewery taproom in a unit at the end of a private industrial estate. Don't walk along the canal as there is no access, you end up the wrong side of a tall fence. It's mostly an outside space with a smaller space inside. Around 8 of the brewery's beers on tap plus cans to takeaway.“

“My 2nd of 2 stops in this part of South Birmingham having just arrived on the mainland. Parking right outside the shop & a friendly welcome and a passionate owner. A very good selection of beers, bottled & canned from around the UK & Europe. This would be my preferred place to start my next trip.“

“Review during Covid Lockdown release phase 1, outdoor's only. This is a pretty normal factory unit in one of the many industrial parks in this area, it has the advantage of being close to the canal, even if it is impossible to actually get to the canal due to security fencing making a much extended walk. There were plentiful benches on our visit on, luckily, a very sunny afternoon. There was a good range of Glasshouse beers on draught, backed up by their canned offerings. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful making a decent afternoon of it. Glad we went.“

“Just a short 10 minute walk from the Attic Brew Co. Tap and on a different Industrial Estate, near the River Rea walk. We visited during the Covid outdoor drinking period but the benches are in a sunny spot, some are covered. They seem to be running a booking system that we couldn't find anywhere but also reserving benches for walk ins, the staff were most helpful in locating a place for us. Non of us could get the on line ordering system going no matter how hard we tried so they had to take ours manually, they did have a list for us to work off. It's well worth the walk to get there and there is a nice vibe going on.“

“First visit on Saturday 17th April 2021, during Covid restrictions. Just a very short walk from Bournville Train Station and into the Industrial Units. There is plenty of seating, roughly half under canopy, luckily it was a sunny, warm afternoon so we had pleasant warming sun. Lots of beers to go at with the brewery gearing up and a nice range of styles. Logging in and ordering on an app proved a little tricky but overcome successfully, worked fine once going, really friendly staff and swift service. All in all well worth visiting even in these difficult times, great atmosphere.“

“Great beer store close to Cotteridge Wines. Actually we had not checked out this place in advance, so we just went to Cotteridge, like we have done before. When driving into town from there we noticed their sig and found parking just in front of the store, and it was well worth a look. They had a great selection of local beers as well as some national and foreign stuff. I would definately go back if in Birmingham again, and it is easily combined with Cotteridge and the nearby breweries.“

“Very busy brewery unit on a Friday evening. They had 13 of their own beers on keg and a couple of ciders as well. There was live music, so the place was loud, but the weather was good for February, so we were able to stand outside, where we also picked up some fantastic burgers. They beers we tried were solid.“

“Medium sized shop with bunch of different beers. Very good selection of both UK and imported beers, but I'd say not a 1000 of them. Some good US bottles I haven't seen around a lot. They do have a good selection of ciders, even some ice ciders which are pricey, but I guess that's expected. Found some good modern UK beers I couldn't find elsewhere. If you're in the area pay it a visit.“

“Quite large pub spreading over several big rooms. Not many people inside beside us on a rainy afternoon. 6 casks, some decent choices (Titanic Plum Porter and Purity Mad Goose), but nothing super interesting. Was a decent stop while waiting for Indian place to open, but it's not a must visit by any means.“

“Visited around 7 pm on Saturday 08/06/19, Cotts Convention V. Located near to Bournville station but we took the hassle free Uber option from Cotts (£6) and moved on via Uber to Burning Soul (£8.50 for reference). Located in a modern brewing space I was surprised how busy the place was ... packed to the rafters with no spare tables with a crowd of Langley 30 to 40 something locals and a plenty of furry friends! The place was well staffed for the crowds so we didn't wait long. Ok prices with half's or pint's on the beers ... unfortunately no tasters or thirds to aid the ticker. 7 of their own beers on tap plus a Paulaner lager. Beers were of a good standard ... no duds ... a respectable 3.47 average from me across the board. Friendly vibe and well worth a visit ... they also had a good cart outside.“

“Heard about this bar so decided to go and see what was on. It is a bar and Turkish Restaurant on Pershore Road close to the British Oak pub and on the 45 and 47 bus route. There were no cask ales on but a selection of 10 craft beers. Wild Beer, Burning Soul, Wiper & True, Salopian, Northern Monk, Verdant, Wylam, Paulaner, and 2 from Gueuzerie Tilquin. There was a shelf behind the window with high stools and a number of tables and chairs back to the bar area, with clear notices of the beers available on the wall. Beer could be served in thirds, halves, two thirds and pints. Bar is card only though and no receipt given but can be sent to you by e-mail. Enjoyed the Wiper & True Milk Shake Stout“

“New to Stirchley this year and they have hit the ground running. Part of the #StirchleyBeerMile initiative, which sees an informal linking of beer/food/retail sites along and beyond the borders of the Stirchley High Street. The unit is fitted out with a large forward facing bar with generally at least 6 rotating beers brewed on site plus 1-2 guest beers from the locality. Food is supplied on site from a rotating pop-up setup featuring the best and brightest that Birmingham's streetfood superstars have to offer.“

“For 40 years Stirchley Wines has been a force majeur in providing beer to residents of South Birmingham. Whilst the range is definitely smaller than its closest neighbours its obvious that a lot of thought has gone into carefully curating a range that is an essential guide to the great and good of brewing today from all corners of the world. On top of their extensive selection of bottled beer; Krishan and his father (Amrik) have more recently introduced a growler filling station. A counter pressure filling system sits proudly on the counter and has an ever-changing selection of beers from the likes of Alpha State, Magic Rock, Marble, Summer Wine, Crooked Stave, Thornbridge and many many others for fans of taking fresh beer home with them. The staff are friendly and approachable and above all else are incredibly knowledgeable seemingly about everything on the shelves. Happy to chat away and give personal recommendations about the wide ranging selection on the shelves. With the recent focus on the regeneration of Stirchley High Street and the introduction/rapid development of the #StirchleyBeerMile this is an essential visiti if you ever find yourself in the region.“

“This is a neat little venue which is very close to Stirchley Wines and Spirits. They're planning to move to bigger premises so at the time of writing everything is in a state of flux. However they're keeping going with restricted hours. The beer selection is pared down - three cask, one keg and five bottles - but everything they have is worth drinking. Friendly, and pricewise it's very reasonable. Cant wait to try out their new digs, but for now this is more than enough.“

“The British Oak is one of those breathtaking Victorian pubs that beckons you in. Like Scotty 0001 said, it's relatively unspoilt and quite atmospheric. Beer choice leaves a bit to be desired though. Six cask ales, the most interesting of which was Wye Valley HPA. A few US bottles (Lagunitas, GI, etc) so no ticks for jjsint. Service also seemed a bit like an afterthought although people were very pleasant. Having said all this, I enjoyed my time here.“

“An exceptional beer shop about 10 mins walk from Bournville station (or CotteridgeWines in the other direction). No space to drink in,but there's a really decent selection here. Not as big as Cotteridge perhaps but they carry a lot of different stock. Picked up a Founders, Anchor and Scherlenka, all of which were new to me (although many more 'exotic' breweries were available). Owner/manager very passionate about good beer. Another destination in this part of Birmingham.“
